I love these burritos but it is really hard to find them. I wish I knew what stores carry them in the Los altos/Mountain View area

The bartender was phenomenal--friendly, knowledgeable, and crafted some of the best drinks I've ever had. The oysters were unbelievably fresh and absolutely to die for. Since it was an off-time, I also had the whole patio to myself. I ordered the Garden Gimlet (which I finally learned with a hard G, like "gift"). The drink arrived ice-cold (which hit especially well on such a hot day in Capitola) with a balance of punchy fresh lime juice, delicately herbed syrup, and the classic botanical sophistication of gin. The drink also comes with a decorative edible flower. I don't know my flowers too well but of the two different flowers I had in the two gimlets I ordered, both had a very subtle licorice flavor (nothing at all close to jäger) and an herbaceous quality. Pro-tip: dip the flower in the drink for an even more complex experience. The drinks and the ambiance were both excellent but the service took the experience to the next level. I had the pleasure of being served by Erik, who is normally the bartender but was also my server today. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and served a consistent and delicious drink each of my rounds. I certainly benefited from it being slow the afternoon I visited because I got some extra time to chat with Erik about some of the things on my mind that brought me to grabbing a drink overlooking the water in Capitola. Definitely say hi if you see him working sometime; he's a wise soul.

Now let's get to the food. I can only speak for what I ordered. My espresso martini made with tequila instead of vodka was UHMAZING! Best one I've had so far. The baked Brie was mouth watering, the crostinis were so good and crispy. And the top sirloin was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Loved every bit of it! And the cheesecake was good but I wasn't a fan of the peach compote. My friend loved her cosmo and her gnocchi. And she loved the peach compote. So it worked out for us. Will definitely be back next year!

Located in the beautiful Mediterranean-esque coastal city of Capitola, this unique and elaborate restaurant has been in operation dating back to 1947. Originally built as a log cabin, this place has gone through evolutionary changes over the decades while preserving the historical rooms (both inside and out) that can seat hundreds of guests at any given time. Located directly off of Wharf Rd and adjacent to the Soquel Creek, this place captivates the heart of Capitola and surrounding areas in every way possible. As far as getting here, you have the option of driving your personal vehicle while Shadowbrook offers a dedicated lot to park. And of course there is always Uber/Lyft. But if you want the ultimate experience by arriving here in style, I HIGHLY recommend booking a complimentary Shadowbrook shuttle. My lady and I were staying at the "Best Western Plus Capitola By-The-Sea Inn & Suites" (only 0.8 miles away) and one of the hotel staff called the restaurant to have us picked up at 5:30pm on Friday 9/4/2026. However, this isn't any old shuttle. Nope, we were picked up by a restored 1955 Checker Cab! Not only did our driver drop us off at the restaurant, but he also took us through some of the amazing views of Capitola! We felt like celebrities that were living in a fantasy world. When we arrived, we made a short walk to the entrance that eventually led us towards the red Shadowbrook cable car. This tram/gondola goes down a slanted track making its way through a dense, green hillside. Once we got to the primary entrance to the actual restaurant, everything was a breeze just in time for our 6:00pm reservation. I have to say, the attention to detail here is on a whole other level. The massive amount of foliage combined with the overall beauty and aesthetics of both the interior and exterior dining areas really prove that every seat here is a winner. We were fortunate to sit at the outdoor patio area which provided a serene view of Soquel Creek and all of its surroundings. Our server, Sean was absolutely fantastic. He brought out (2) food menus and a drink menu as well as warm ciabatta bread with whipped butter. As for their food selection, they carry a vast array of traditional upscale American cuisine. I ended up ordering a 6 oz. cut of their "Chateau Prime-Top Sirloin". This char-grilled Angus steak included potato gratin, Shiitake mushroom sautéed spinach, Baker's bacon, and topped with chef's butter. My lady went with their "Ricotta Ravioli" which included edamame puree, sugar snap peas, and topped crispy tarragon butter. I went with a refreshing "Coconut-Lavendar Lemonade" while she opted with a glass of the "Salmon Creek Merlot". Total time to receive our food after ordering was roughly 30 minutes. I was perfectly fine with that as this was a place worth admiring every single minute. When our entrées did arrive, everything was showcased and beautifully presented. As for my sirloin, this had the perfect 'char' while retaining all the juices (as I had requested it medium). The potato gratin was creamy with the addition of infused cheese. I particularly loved the bacon chunks that were part of the spinach. I also tried a few bites of her ravioli and that too was perfectly balanced with the creamy ricotta and edamame puree. All in all, both of our dishes were a 9/10. After we were done eating, our server Sean was gracious enough to even take a picture of my lady and I complete with the creek as the background. I will say that everything from the main dining room to the Rockroom Lounge to the Rooftop Terrace to the exterior dining spot where we ate, this place is a real gem. Reservations are strongly encouraged but not required. Hours at the Rockroom Lounge are from 12-10pm while main dining hours are from 2-8:30pm (with extended hours to 9:30pm on Fri/Sat). Whether you're here for date night, a birthday, anniversary, etc., this place is as good as it gets. Finally, with world class service, million dollar views, amazingly delectable food, and an experience that I will never forget, I am giving "Shadowbrook" restaurant in Capitola a perfect five star rating.

This food was not good, and I genuinely pity all the reviewers on here speaking to the contrary…read more Wasabi Sushi is an order-at-the-counter sushi joint. Yet when you pay at check-out, the tip amount defaults to 18% (yes, a default 18% tip at a fast-casual restaurant), with the alternatives being 20%, 25%, or custom. The lone employee who made eye contact with us was nice, but again--this is a fast-casual restaurant! The edamame was soft and unseasoned. The only condiment on the table was soy sauce (no low-sodium options available) and sushi rolls do not come with wasabi nor ginger. "Bento boxes" are essentially combo meals. When we sent the first edamame back because it was mushy, we received another bowl of flaccid beans back moments later. I suspect they are steamed in bulk, possibly in a bag in a microwave. My gripe with this place that finally pushed me to publish this review was the fried soft shell crab roll. PLEASE, for the love of cuisine, spare yourself from this roll. The crab is fried harder than a well-done Kentucky fried chicken leg, with a sweet sauce smeared over the top to distract from the flavorlessness of the contents. To add insult to injury, one piece had unfurled when this landed at our table. I have never, ever received a deconstructed sushi roll that was not immediately replaced. A minor aesthetic inconvenience for me; but a good illustration of the lack of concern for attention to detail here. I did not enjoy any part of this meal, which cost over $100. My biggest takeaway from this dinner is to never take Reddit reviews of Santa Cruz restaurants seriously again. Of course, nobody asked how my food was.

This has ruined me for the prolific mediocrity of sushi in Northern/Mid California. If you don't really like sushi, it's probably because of places like this. If you like sushi, don't come here or you'll leave upset that you spent $100 on under-seasoned rice and soft shell crab that tasted and looked the same as the (dry) katsu chicken. It makes me sad that the people eating here don't know that it can be better than this. Ambience was comfy and nice. Pretty chill, you order for yourself and they bring it to you. Staff was nice and replaced the mushy edamame upon request. (With more mushy edamame) If you want good sushi, leave the country, spend alot of money at an omakase place or go to Las Vegas. If you want to put food in your stomach after giving someone money, this place will do.

We went on a Monday for lunch, and there was no wait; we were seated immediately. Our waiter, Josiah, took good care of us throughout, and a manager also checked on us while we were eating to make sure everything was good. I had a mai tai that was amazing with fresh pineapple taste. I also ordered the Baja fish tacos. The fish was cooked just right with great toppings, including large pieces of avocado and a Chipotle sauce. My friend ordered chips and salsa and the clam chowder. The chowder was good, and the chips were fresh, but the red salsa was very bland. Not just mild with no spice, but bland, like not even any flavor. The green salsa was slightly better. Even so, we both enjoyed our meals and drinks and thoroughly enjoyed the view. I would definitely come back here for drinks and food! Main reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the salsa, but everything else 5 stars.

We had a pretty large group - not particular big (but close to 10 people) but we had to be split up in 2 booth tables. They do have a kid's menu which is great for family with kids. It does come with a drink, we got milk for our kids. Surprisingly, the portion is really good for the kiddos! We got a quesadilla for them and it was definitely more than enough food for 1 kid. We should have just had the kid share 1 item. The cost of the food all felt a little pricier than I hope, but the food wasn't bad. I got the bajo tacos and it was a good size. It had deep fried fish in them. I felt the dipping sauce that came with it was pretty good too. My husband got the quesabirria tacos which I thought was pretty good. However, I felt the dipping sauce that came with it was a little saltier than I like. I thought the service was good too. The wait staff did a good job in making sure we had what we needed. We also had the ceviche as a starter and I enjoyed it as well. We had a positive experience here. We would probably return. Parking here is also very busy and hard to get.
