I'm so glad I discovered Laura at Glow Studio on the corner of King and Keeaumoku, right above Paris Station. The location is convenient and has free parking in the back. Note: Don't confuse Glow Studio with The Glow Spot on Ward--that's a different business owned and operated by someone else. Laura has many years of experience doing waxing and is very skilled at her job. You can tell how professional and precise she is by how long she takes. She really does use the full 30 minutes of the appointment to ensure your brows will look great. I like that she also advised me that it's best to let your brows grow out (no tweezing) until your next appointment as this allows for them to grow more in some areas as well as more evenly, which helps with the overall shape. Making an appointment online via her website is simple and quick. Unlike other businesses doing waxing, haircuts, etc., I appreciate that the booking system Laura uses doesn't require you to enter your credit card information or make a deposit to reserve an appointment. Laura's place of business is also very clean and nicely decorated, creating a relaxing atmosphere. For those who are extra cautious during this pandemic, Laura sanitizes after every customer. She also wears a mask and face shield when waxing. And of course, customers are required to wear a mask as well. For payment, she puts her phone in a plastic bag for added protection, then you just tap over the bag to select your tip amount. She sanitizes the bag after each customer. She also holds out the card reader for you, and you insert your card and remove it; she won't touch your card at all. Hand sanitizer is available too. Laura is THE BEST on Oahu! For many years, I've bounced from one salon to the next, trying to find an eyebrow specialist that I liked. One never stuck and each time I would go to someone new, I'd walk out with either little-to-no hair left OR will low self-confidence due to rude/unexpected comments about A) my lack of eyebrow hair and/or B) my facial acne. At my first appointment with Laura, I felt instant comfort when she reassured me that I had more eyebrow hair than I realized and that my facial acne wasn't anything to be ashamed of. Instead of degrading me, she gave me helpful tips and advice about my skin care routine. She reminded me that it's not only what I put ON my skin that matters but what I put INTO my body. Laura is a WIZARD! I always have a hard time finding a good eyebrow waxer because my usual people are always moving, I found Laura on yelp and decided to give her a shot. I have thick eyebrows and they are my pride and joy and Laura shaped them up and made them look fantastic! She asked me which shape I prefer and really took her time to ensure that she gave me what I wanted which I really appreciated.
