We've had a myriad of issues with our older Toyota RAV4 SUV that's been otherwise amazing and reliable until a few months ago. A friend referred me to GM Specialities and spoke highly of their customer service, great craftsmanship, honesty, integrity, knowledge, and efficiency. I didn't hesitate to call and had the pleasure of speaking to their general manager, KC. He was every bit as amazing as I've heard. Unlike other shops that have little to no customer service and want to get you in for a diagnostic appointment at any cost, he was gracious and kind enough to educate me on potentially preventing further damage to the vehicle. While we were hoping it was salvageable, I didn't want to do anything to possibly worsen the situation. Our car has been golden until the alternator, battery, and radiator went out back to back. We did a slightly overdue tuneup and replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs. Unfortunately, it's had a misfire issue we couldn't get to the bottom of. He instructed me to have it towed to the shop and not to drive it as we could potentially ruin the catalytic converter or engine. KC was able to get us in for an appointment the following day, and their diagnostic estimate pricing is far better than any dealer, and they do a much better job. Unfortunately, a blown head gasket was our fate, but I'm glad we finally have concrete answers so my family can move on and purchase another reliable and safe vehicle that we'll love and make memories with. It's clear the shop employees are well educated and taken care of, and I wouldn't hesitate to bring our other vehicle in any time. Great, reliable mechanics have become more and more difficult to find these days. Have faith and trust they'll do great quality, honest work, and do you right. Remember at the end of the day, life happens, and while some things are outside of our control, your best bet is to always stay on top of routine car maintenance to ensure the maximum life and safety of your vehicle. I had just moved to the area and had yet to find a trusted shop for my Hummer H2. I went to two other places for the same Catalectic Converter problem and then found these guys. My truck is older (2005) and not only did they fix the problem at hand they recommended a few other things above and beyond. I normally do all my normal maintenance on my c7 at home, however I turned to kc to help me with an intermittent transmission issue when the car was cold. Kc also repaired a failed proximity sensor that created a keyless system error in the driver's information center. Kc recommended a transmission fluid and filter change to a new gm spec, as well as firmware updates to the transmission module.. 200 miles later I am happy to report my Corvette shifts like it is brand-new, and no recurring keyless system faults. Kc was in constant communication, and I appreciated how I was able to pay the invoice before I picked my car up. I highly recommend gm specialties to any corvette or gm owner.. great work! read more

KC and his crew did a fantastic job for us. They had to replace all of the actuators for the HVAC system. They also performed a quick but thorough goings over and found a few semi- major issues. My husband and I are big fans of Clark Auto Body (next door), and a few years ago, Bob suggested that my husband take his 98 Lincoln Mark VIII to GM Specialties next door. These cars are a piece of work. My husband loves his Mark and will probably drive it for the next ten years. But working on them, let alone finding parts, is an art and an experience that is probably not on the short list for most mechanics. It's like some underground cult of Lincoln owners have all the bypass rules of how to fix these things because in many cases, there are no parts available, and if there are, the cost to fix it exceeds the total worth of the car. But these cars can be fixed if you are willing to do a little research and do some things that I am pretty sure you won't find in any how-to manual. For example, if your HID headlights go bad, there is a fix that cost about $2,500 (yes, that is US $$). But there are plenty of work-arounds where you can buy a certain bulb, wire it to specs (underground, I'm sure), and whola! You just saved about $2,250. But finding a shop that will even venture into the dark world of these work-arounds is an entirely different thing. They have been helping my husband fix his Mark for quite a few years and because of their professionalism, and always willing to give it a try, they get our Toyota and F-150 now and we won't even take our cars anywhere else--not even for oil changes. And like a good contractor, there isn't anything they can't do. We just took our 2006 Toyota Solara that has 95k to get an oil change and tires rotated. I was sure it needed brakes since they are the original ones. Nope...not yet. Brakes are fine. We'll check again next time. Yeah, it's hard to find an honest mechanic. But when you do find one, you realize you don't have that dreaded awful feeling when you drop off your car. You know that whatever they say it needs, it actually needs. And I think they are more than reasonable--which probably also has to do with being in the same location for who knows how many years, and not in some Auto Mall w/super high rent. And every single one of the employees/managers are really nice and pleasant. I can't say one thing or one area that needs improvement here. read more
