I mean, you get everything you need. But the management here is not so great. When I came in grabbing all the quest bars (Limited edition Pumpkin spice!), the employee kept staring at me like I was crazy. Within 5 minutes I grabbed my bars and headed to the cashier's. This location has a larger selection than some of the other GNC locations I've frequented... a good thing but with all the choices I could spend a lifetime in this store! The sales persons at this location are a bit too in your face at first yet when you ask them regarding a certain product, they seem lost in answering... at least then they leave you alone to do your own shopping! I work nearby and walk to the mall at lunch and always cruise by this spot for some chewy vitamins. I like the Glutamine best. They never say a thing about me being a regular or taking vitamins, etc. They are always friendly and offering advice. About today: I met Justin (Hope that was his name... it was hard to see). Big dude. Knew his stuff. Knew science too. Probably the smartest guy I have spoke with at GNC. He was really helpful and immediately created a good environment for questions, feedback, etc. My suggestion: Come to this store if you want good service. They don't have the same products as all GNC locations, but that is really common. So call ahead to see if they have what you want. read more

Typical GNC experience. You walk in the store to buy something and an employee who clearly doesn't work out tries to sell you items you don't need. Think I got pitched to try about 5-6 different things when I walked in to buy the 1 specific product I needed. Can't hate on this particular location though, it's pretty identical to any experience in a GNC. Guessing their employees get some sort of financial reward for selling more products, but all it does is irritate me and makes me not want to return. Regardless, they had some good deals running and I was able to buy what I needed. Next time, I'll just buy online or go to a different business to avoid the awkward, forced sales pitches that are pretty much unavoidable at any GNC. read more

First time at this location. I went in to quickly buy some whey protein.. that's all I needed. But then the manager approached me with an upfront stern tone "you do not want to buy that product" and he tried to upsell me by steering me toward GNC protein. When I politely declined, he still kept guilt tripping me into buying it, so after a few minutes I said sure I'll take the GNC protein instead of whey. (Only because I was in a hurry and had to leave) After that the guy told me I should purchase some C4 energy. I said I've tried C4 and I don't like it, it makes me jittery. I haven't worked out in 3 years and I'm just starting to get back in the groove, all I need is this protein. So he tries to steer me in another energy boost direction to some offbrand similar to C4. Even after that I told him "sorry I don't take energy powder and I'm in a hurry, this GNC protein is good enough for me." THEN AGAIN he tries to sell me on water pills and I said no I got to go. Then he brings me to the vitamins and says I need to buy vitamins. Even after saying no I don't want vitamins, he still kept circling back on the subject. Just to get away from this guy and out of the store, I dropped the "I'm broke" card. Which it worked! He immediately backed off. Words of wisdom to GNC: Don't turn into a low life car salesman. Not a fan of this location. After reading reviews, I'm not the only one who felt rushed and "interrogated" to some degree. I always buy the BPI brands of BCAAs in watermelon ice but in Otay. I was in the area and this location was close to where I was shopping. When I go to use it, the product is clear. I'm used to the color change to pink and the flavor tasted different. I called and the person who answered couldn't figure out his own name to save his life. Let alone know what product I'm talking about until I repeated it many times. Still didn't know and said well I don't know all the products here. Hung up on him and talked to someone else who had better knowledge and customer service skills in Otay of course. I haven't had a chance to return as Otay confirmed BPI hadn't Changed their formula and to return it if I want to. I was back inUTC area and finally had a chance to return it. This was the same guy I spoke to who knew nothing about anything over the phone who is now helping me. Questioning why I was returning, not in a kind manner, and trying to get me to trade it for something else. I said dude. All I came here to do was return a product of your store which I don't want and have a receipt to get my money back. I told him I ended up buying something else and he said if you exchanged it why are you returning it? REALLY!? Are you high? Lost my patience with this guy. Horrible staff here. I walked in with a friend and wasn't acknowledged for a while. Then when I did have a question, I was blatantly told by an employee that works there that "Only one product works in this entire store, you should use that stuff" without offering any additional explanation about why I should be purchasing the blatantly more marketed, higher priced And standing there for about 5 minutes longer. I decided it was time to leave without purchasing anything from this store, wouldn't be surprised if there was a sales contest for this particular product. In any case I would steer clear of this place. The people I dealt with are the reason I did not purchase anything and walked out. I was at UTC a few weeks ago and passed by the little GNC store thinking maybe I'll go in and try some vitamins and stuff. An hour and half later I came out with a Detox Kit, 30 day supply of BeFit vitamins, 2 big jugs of Lean Shakes, 2 blender bottles, and a stainless steel water bottle (which I got for free!). The staff was very helpful and helped me find what I was looking for. I also joined their membership and got 20% off my entire purchase. There was also a lot of sales going on. Overall, I thought that the service was excellent and they were well stocked with supplies. read more

GNC at Westfield UTC in San Diego has horrible customer service. Went in around 5pm Dec 22, 2018 and there were two groups ahead of me with one open register. The line was short but it took so long because each customer from the group was trying to figure out their rewards program phone number since the cashier kept asking if they want to sign up. "Try this number then" and when the phone number was not found, the salesman holding the tablet kept saying they can sign up. But everyone ahead of me didn't want to sign up and were harassed. When the second group of customers left, the salesman spoke poorly of them in front of me to his coworker. Here's my turn, trying to buy some protein bars and when I was asked for a phone number, I said I'm not part of their program. The salesman responds "I asked you if you've been here before and you said yes. We could've saved time by signing you up while you were waiting in line". (While waiting in line, the salesman asked everyone if they've been to gnc before, not if we're signed up for a rewards program. These are Two different things). Then he kept telling me to sign up, saying I'll save $10 but I said I didn't need want to. He said it'll just take 10 seconds. I said "no, I just want to buy these and leave". He persisted "everyone is required to sign up". So i politely told him that I can either make the purchase or I can leave. The response was "it's up to you" so I left. Way to ruin my Xmas shopping and I felt so bad my friends were waiting for me outside in the cold. GNC, you need to hire better workers who don't harass customers to meet quotas or implement customer service trainings. There are better stores out there (your competitors) + the convenience and better priced options on amazon. read more

Worst place ever!! Wasted me 2 hours!! I was to return an item. The first time I went there, the clerk said he couldn't return that for me, because he didn't have the permission. Only store manager has it, but he is on vacation!! The second time when I went there, the clerk said it's over 30 days. But it's not my problem that it went over the 30 days limit. It's because the manager was on vacation!! Btw, the receipt never shows I need a store manager to return an item! Also, the clerk was so rude and used racial discrimination words!!!! read more

As other customers said, the staff (seems manager) is horrible. I've had similar experience before when I came with my friends, but didn't have a choice because this GNC is nearest one. Again, this manager is not kind at all and just recommend expensive stuffs. Also they recommended some 'new membership' but then we misunderstood their explanation and purchased it. We wanted refund $43 new membership but the manager said it's not refundable. He didn't mention 'non-refundable' things before we bought it. I told him I'll call customer service and he said 'oh, you definitely contact them' with very sarcastic tone. I just called GNC customer service and of course they are okay with refund of membership. I'll definitely contact GNC customer again for claiming this manager. read more

Health-kick fans unite! Yes, getting healthy is getting in the way of my decadent foodie-restaurant review, but what good is eating for pleasure if you don't look fantastic doing it? So, GNC for my vitamin hunt it was. B-12 complex? Check! Zinc supplement? CHECK! Biotin for shiny healthy hair and nails? CHECK! CHECK! I stopped off at this local GNC while down in La Jolla at a medical physicians' conference. The staff was helpful. My MD friend/companion was impressed at the selection. It was a productive visit. However, they were missing MCT Oil, a necessary ingredient for my Bullet Proof Coffee concoction. (See bulletproofexec.com for details if you are a health nut). So, I cannot give them a 5th star. I cannot stand this location. I have never been able to just walk in, buy what I need and leave without the managers trying to upsell me or judge my purchase. I politely make it clear when I walk in that I don't need assistance and that if I have a question, I'll find them. I didn't have one foot in the door before they attack like vultures. This is the only location I ever have an issue with and now avoid. The ONLY reason I returned today was because it's the closest one to work and I won't have an opportunity this week to go anywhere else. When the manager heard me tell one employee that I didn't need assistance, he still approached me and asked if I had ever taken the product that I was holding because I was comparing the ingredients to another, similar product. I let him know I did not need assistance (again) and he rudely stated that he was just talking me to me like a human being. Um no, a human being starts out with "hello, or how are you today?", not with their pitch to get you to buy a more expensive brand or a different product altogether. It's a store. Selling products. Products I use and run out of and need to buy again. I hate feeling like I have to explain myself on a quick lunch break errand and will never return to this location again. Last time he asked WHY I was taking a water pill, so I graciously explained that I bloat around my period that I only get every three months and it helps with the discomfort. I could tell it was TMI, but what if it were for a medical issue? Just let me buy my damn product. I'll be buying online or from amazon from now on. read more

I usually dont have a problem with people trying to offer "coupons" etc with an email. It's their job to promote so I understand. But when they give false advertisement and force customers to give personal details just to meet their quota. When the customer tells you that they are not in the mood to deal with this, and the clerk prevents the customer from making the purchase because they "require" personal information. Do GNC require this information for purchases? Because I do not see that anywhere. Do the workers there even understand customer service? The prices are not even that great. If you dont want to feel like being bullied just for buying something, dont go here. If you see consultant:10 on your receipt you'll know what I mean.
