I clarified w/owner Blake my move details verbally & text regarding time constraints. Tenants lease a dock from the City, it closes at 7PM. The moving truck must be out, then the freight elevators close at 10pm. Job was to start at 2:30PM. I reminded the guy who arrived first (Will) of the timeline. 2nd, one of the guys was 10-15 minutes late. But the charge clock was started at 2:30 anyway. They showed up with no dolly or tools. Luckily I had one. Then the late guy actually knew my neighbors & frequently stopped to call out "Jenna" the whole time. My brother & I had moved everything downstairs except two recliners & a shoe rack. We boxed everything up that we could, for easy packing of the truck as I'd recently been hospitalized & wearing a heart monitor on & my bro wanted to make it easy as he had a flight. Boy were we wrong. Took them 1+ hours for the boxes alone. 30ft max from house to curb! to load the boxes alone. They kept asking for more boxes, I asked them what else can you do. We were on a timeline. I asked Will if he told his partner about Being at the dock by 5pm. He said he no, I did, & confused he asked me if this was a load/unload. I went inside to call the owner. Blake asks me if the guys said they could stay. (So they thought the bad a 5 hour load job? How?) At 5:30p we left with 85% of my things. Gave them the address an instructions on how to get to the dock. I arrived at 6:05PM. They're lost, I give directions again. I start unloaded. 6:13p they pull up. I literally with my heart racing helped unload the truck even the fridge. Oh yeah and they broke and scratched up so much stuff as they were loading/unloading. We just now had to get the items off the truck before 7pm as the truck had to leave the city dock but there are cameras w/an officer so my items would be safe as they made the move inside. But here's the kicker. At 6:46pm, we have finished unloading the truck. Wait! You read that right! The same truck they "loaded" for almost 3 hours. It's 1BR apt worth if things, a fridge & two bikes. Anyway, I take them inside, show them the path & how to use the elevators to get moving upstairs. The guy tells me after the 5 hour mark the rate would be $37.50/hr due to the confusion or whatever. I gave them the fob and key to the empty apartment so they could work while I moved the truck. I left at 7:09pm. I got back, & yes the truck rental was far due to it being early in the month. I had to drive 40 min one way then get access when I got back, as I'd left my fob w/them. The movers didn't answer my calls (likely to lack of service down at the dock). I get down to the dock finally expecting to see some progress, all they'd done is move my things 50ft from the dock to the elevator door. Now outside of the cameras & police tower view. I asked them in awe why not upstairs. The guy replied "oh we wanted to get it all closer to the door so it's less walking". Now I'm pissed. It's 9:13pm. No way to get it all upstairs by 10pm. I called the owner again!! Asked why did he send me guys incapable of doing this job! He basically listened & offered to send me another crew the next day at a discounted price. I said how? As I'm paying NOW. He charged me the full hourly rate anyway as I stopped the clock! I was paying for nothing basically because I had help load/unload. Sick no less. Well from 2:45p to 9:19pm the second photo shows how I ended up with this company. The owner called back, said he'd thought about it & would get someone out the next afternoon for no charge! Duh! I already paid YOU. MY THINGS ARE OUTSIDE in a tunnel, unsecured! I said I'd have to sleep outdoors now b/c they moved it outside of security! I'm livid and just say ok. I called my brother who's made it home to Houston to start asking for help finding emergency movers while I load the elevators. I made two trips upstairs by myself before 10pm. SMH. The emergency movers showed up & since it was after midnight I ended up paying the same amount I had to the first company for TWO HOURS of work!!! Luckily I'd been making videos of the progress to build a time lapse of the move & captured their slowness. I can fully support this review with visuals!! DO NOT use them!! You're wasting your time & your money. I don't know anyone who wants to trash money!! The owner did text the next day, asked if I still needed them. I simply replied "nope". Worst experience moving ever. They weren't qualified nor prepared & the owner knew that! Because when he called me back to offer the "free" guys he said the guys he'd sent were hard workers but the other guys were his best & basically confirmed they needed supervision! Then why not send a supervisor????? We'd done all the work centralizing all the items for easy access!!! Please avoid them.

I had provided multiple rolls of elastic wrap and many pieces had no covering whatsoever. We had damaged furniture, pieces of art that were destroyed, and more scratches than I can even count. The movers said they had never seen anything like this. I purchased all new boxes from Home Depot and they were not even stacked in a logical manner. They sought clarification at a few points, and it was clear that they liked and respected each other. It wouldn't surprise me if they had worked for years together. They worked like a well-oiled machine, meticulously and carefully. They completed the work an hour and 15 minutes ahead of the projected time, all the while treating items with respect. We had packed many boxes and moved them ourselves, but there were many Home Depot moving boxes left over. They used those boxes, thus saving us the cost of paying for their boxes. I really appreciated this. Also,they are going to move the boxes that we ourselves packed, which saves us money. I was very appreciative of the amiability of the moving crew, of their care and precision in packing, of the fact that they were considerate of our desire to save money everywhere we could, and of how pleasant they were. These are the facts: I hired Carte Blanche Moving for my move and now I am missing $1000 cash from my home. Carte Blanche Moving (3 men) moved my belongings from one location to another. I fed them lunch as well as gave them each a tip for their work. Come to find that we are now missing $1000 cash. During the hectic rush of moving, we didn't have any furniture at of our new location and so we placed some items inside the towel closet which is located inside of the main bedroom's bathroom. The door to that towel closet door was closed. They had complete and unsupervised access while inside our home. No one has been inside the home aside from my wife and I. Fact: $2000 was inside the closet prior to them arriving. Fact: We are suddenly missing $1000 after they left. Once the Carte Blanche movers left, my wife opened that towel closet and grabbed the cash to deposit into her bank and immediately realized that there is now $1000 missing from the total original amount of $2000. No one else has been in the home or even had access to all the rooms in our home while left unsupervised/unattended. Looking back, it makes sense how I now find it odd that two of the movers (males/early 30's) remained outside for over 15 minutes after bringing down the last piece of furniture and I found it odd that they never even went back inside my home to thank my wife and I for providing them lunch. I called Carte Blanche Moving owner, Steve Belken, after realizing that I now had $1000 missing from my home. I made sure to tread lightly on trying to explain that I am now missing $1000 cash but that it was there during the move. As expected, we get his apology about the "misplaced cash", but he denies that his employees would ever do such a thing. He also says that I shouldn't have left valuables out in the open. Those were his words. And that his company is not liable for any theft as it says so in the contract that I signed. He says he "knows them" in which I had to interrupt and to remind him that one of the three movers was brand new as I saw another training him. I was honest and upfront with him and told him that I will be filing a police report with my local authorities. He understood that part and didn't seem to have an issue as police generally do nothing in these types of situations. However, as soon as I mentioned that I would also go online and leave reviews based on my experience working with Carte Blanche Moving, he quickly threatened me with legal action if I were to do such a thing by saying how this would "cost us both money so it's better not to do that" although I am the one who is out of $1000 dollars. BEWARE of using Carte Blanche Moving. Although I have no personal malice toward Steve Belken himself (as he was not the the one who came into my home and personally stole from me), but to justify that I should not have left anything of value out in the open and that it should have otherwise been locked away to avoid theft is not exactly comforting to home owners who hire his company/employees who have to come inside your home to move your personal belongings. Is this the company you really to do business with? A company who hires thieves and then takes no responsibility when things go missing. Now it feels as though we have been personally violated because Carte Blanche Moving set me up with dishonest individuals. I am not saying this will be your experience, but this was mine and it's very upsetting and troubling. Just be aware that if this happened to me dealing with Carte Blanche Moving, then this CAN HAPPEN TO YOU TOO. I have also attached a photo of the police report to show that is a serious and concerning matter and to also help in warning others about Carte Blanche Moving.

The two men that arrived were very courteous and took very good care of our items. This was probably the easiest moves yet because I had confidence in the movers, knowing they knew how to handle our items so they wouldn't dent or scratch. We were looking to have over 1,000sf of hardwood installed in 3 rooms and a hallway, finished and hand scraped to match existing flooring. The company came to our house, measured, and Damon sent us a quote. I responded to Damon, asking when the company could get started. Additionally, because I view this as a fairly sizable investment in our home, I had questions about the installer who would be doing the work. Specifically, I wanted to know whether the installer had experience hand scraping, as I know that process can be difficult and time consuming. I also asked if Damon had any references for the installer, or even any pictures of recent work--perhaps a bit high maintenance, but I though it was a reasonable request. Damon simply responded that they could start in 3-4 days. He did not address the questions I had re his installer. I knew that 3-4 days wasn't possible, because wood has to acclimate in the house for longer than that, so I asked him about this, and also repeated the questions re his installer. He condescendingly replied, "but you only asked when we can start the job, and we can start in 3-4 days." Once again, no response re his installer. So I asked about the installer and his experience again. Damon's response was "We do 1,000 hand scraped floors a year, sir." I explained that I was less concerned with the number of floors the company installed, and more concerned with the specific installer First Floors would hire to do the work. So I asked him again. His response was that the company had done a "banker's house" and also a former president's house. At this point, I told him I'd love to use his company, but that I needed more details on who the installer would be, specifically his experience hand scraping. I again asked for recent references. Damon responded "I have come to the realization we are not the company for you." I found the contact info for the owner, Richard, and emailed him, explaining that I thought the resistance to my questions was bizarre, especially considering the fact that we're in uncertain financial times. No response. I've owned a few houses, done lots of work on all of them, and have never been in a situation where a company is not willing to provide info on the people who will actually be doing the work in our home. I think that's highly suspicious. Also, the fact that he was ready to install in 3-4 days, in a humid climate like the Dallas area, is problematic in my experience. I can't speak to the quality of their work, but their customer service is garbage.
