Spencer was very thorough in asking me all sorts of questions regarding the kind of wood I wanted to use, whether I was interested in delivery, etc. Spencer arrived exactly on time with the doghouse in tow and even stuck around for quite awhile (must have been at least 2 hours) to help lift the house into the backyard. The doghouse was sitting unlevel on our slanted ground and Spencer built a wedge on the spot to keep the house level. I would hire Spencer again anytime I need any more handy work done! Even though Spencer couldn't come out right away to give an estimate (due to working somewhere remote when I requested it), they kept me informed of what to expect and delivered perfectly. Spencer does really good work and also put up with me not knowing exactly what I wanted. He even installed a different switch and a light fixture for me at no charge. It was time to replace a deteriorating privacy fence at my home. I decided to replace it with a…read moreblock wall in order to minimize future maintenance. It was shared fence with two other neighbors and they agreed to share in the cost. I asked four different Companies to bid on a new cinder block wall. In the end only two Companies provided quotes. The prices were similar. I chose National Concrete based upon Brian La Fuente and his honest and straight forward approach. The project consisted of demo an existing wood fence and build a 219 linear feet cinder block wall with Orco split face blocks. The National Concrete team for my project was 3 highly skilled and very efficient craftsmen. I was amazed at the fast pace of the work for only three guys. They did not take short cuts. The crew worked straight through on the job. In the end it took four weeks to complete the fence including all city inspections. I think the work quality was top notch. He quoted me $2100 for the job, I thought get let's use him. First day great he comes in with another guy and starts drywall! Then Marvin disappears for hours... come to find out as his coworker is working his butt off, we find Marvin smoking down the street in his car. Weird?! But ok. Then over the days went just by himself he's extremely slow at his job, shows up at random times, blames his girlfriend and his grandfather for his inconsistency. This goes on for 6 DAYS!!!! Hasn't even finished the drywall. Might I add I'm paying him everyday... bc I'm nice, as well as feeding him! Finally I ask him what's the prognosis he tells me he miss quoted bc he didn't realize materials cost so much. I agree with him to just finished it and I'll agree to pay more than he quoted. He asked for $800 more... once again agreed but unsure I wanted to continue with him. He also didn't have any of the drywall equipment as well or a car. He uses my ladders and my buckets laying in the garage and absolutely destroys them! As well as not hanging up curtains. Our garage was coated in drywall dust... now we are on day 7 (drywall NOT finished) I finally tell him to take a day off so I can clean. ALL OF A SUDDEN HE STARTS telling me he's gonna clean! I said don't come today! He kept insisting... I ended up hiring 3 people, pulled everything out of my garage, cleaned is scraps and a truck load of drywall and went and dumped myself. Also spending $250 in mops and cleaning stuff. ALSO BUYING CURTAINS AND INSTALLING THE CURTAINS AROUND THE WORKPLACE LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO! I had another guy come quote me to fix this drywall and was blown away how unprofessional Marvin was with my garage he was mind blown! Finally I ask him to just fix the drywall and I've paid you more than the original quote and I'm done with you. He does a terrible job, leaves my house without cleaning, had putty all over my garage and gym equipment!!! JUST LEFT! Once opened up, we discovered termite damage at the bottom of the framing structure between the two door frames. Jon shored it up with wood.
