Delicious! I've been eating here for nearly a decade! They make the best coffee aperitif!

What an amazing treat! First of all they are doing an excellent job with Covid. They check your temperature first. The seating is very spaced out. We felt very safe while eating here. Our server was amazing! And the owner visited our table several times to chat. He was so enjoyable to talk to. But the food oh my goodness the food!! I am ready to get back in the car and drive back right now! The poutine was some of the best I have ever had. And the beef burgundy was worth the drive alone! We will be making this a regular date night location. The ambiance of the restaurant makes for a perfect night out! Thank you Goats for an incredible afternoon! Oh this place was so much fun to try out. We went a few nights ago, and it wasn't crowded at all. I do hope to see more people next time. The menu was limited, but the food was absolutely amazing!!! I had the Beef Bourguigon and it was so delicious!!! Very tender meat served with sweet potatoes hash. Great choice! I'd easily get it again. I love how the place is decorated. Looks really cool! We had 3 apps and 3 different cocktails! All delicious. The bartenders were engaging and the atmosphere was fun

First came to this establishment over 30 years ago as GoatFeathers; a super cool coffee, cognac, dessert place to go. Having returned to USC for a game and wanting to travel memory lane in Five Points, so happy to see GoatFeathers still there! Once inside, ambience the same, but new name as Goats, new owner and an apparently renewed effort to revitalize the once super cool spot. Greeted by the new owner, an engaging and involved entrepreneur/restauranteur, the vibe is still cool, but also reenergized. Very nice selection of wines and spirits. Excellent menu choices and well priced. We chose the crab pops, buffalo fried oysters and duck tacos to share for the two of us. Plenty to eat and all equally delicious in their own right. Loved Goats and will most definitely return when back in town as this place is a treasure to five points! read more

I normally don't like to take the time and write reviews but as I was eating my meal I looked at my boyfriend and said I'm talking about this I had skimmed over Goat's before thinking nothing of it. It's Saturday night and we had planned to get some sushi but a wave of laziness hit and we didn't feel like dinning out so I skim all of the delivery apps while correlating with Yelp. I see Ruth Chris' has a 20% off deal going on so I take a peak and see $25 lobster Mac and cheese...I'm like OK...I want that, but do I want to spend that much on just Mac and cheese?? I got on Yelp and sort by top rated. Goat's catches my eye again. I see they have Lobster Mac as well and for $15 as an entree. Now I'm excited! I want to try it all the duck the poutine the garlic aïol the oyster po boy. Goat's doesn't use and delivery apps but for these prices I don't mind the drive to 5 points. I call in and ask for the lobster Mac, Philly and po boy with a side of garlic aïol for our fries. The lady says they don't have oysters so I ask what's the next best thing. She suggest any of their Phillys so I order a chicken and a beef. We pick up the food, I notice it's a hip little artsy joint. The food smells great. I can feel it's steaming hot on the ride home which is always a plus. We set up open all the boxes and I dove right into the lobster Mac. Holy crap. Wow. So good! Yes! Creamy sauce, perfectly cooked noodles, chunk after chunk of lobster. Melting bite after bite. I was in heaven! Next was the Philly. About a 6-8in white roll, soft. I got it loaded with onions peppers and mushrooms. The beef was well seasoned, the veggies cooked, the cheese melted it all together creating this creamy delicious filling. Ah! The bread was so soft and not chewy. This isn't one of your messy greasy Phillys so if you're looking for that type, this isn't it but I am definitely putting this Philly at the top of my Philly list. I'm about to dig into their shoe string cut fries when I notice the garlic aïol is missing and for that I give 4.5 stars. My boyfriend seconds this rating and agrees what a satisfying experience. Philly cheesesteak fans, rejoice! This place is a really cool spot to hang out, with the bonus of food. It is swanky and sultry. It reminds me a lot of Speakeasy a block away, except that this place has lots of food. I came here with my friend for wine and enjoyed the interior decor. I got a wine flight which came with 3 glasses of wine for $12. Not bad. I liked the wines and the presentation was really nice, with a little slip of paper and a pencil for me to take notes on. The waitress was extremely friendly and the three of us chatted for some time. The owner also came by and wanted to know which wine I liked best. I also ordered a philly cheesesteak sandwich, which I had seen several people on Yelp rave about. They were so right! It was pretty much a gourmet sandwich. It had a lot of mushrooms, onions, the cheese was creamy, and the meat was sliced just right. It was so large that I was only able to eat half so I took the rest home. It was accompanied by an equally huge portion of fries, which I thought were just okay. They could have benefitted from a little seasoning, but not truffle or garlic (two toppings I particularly can't stand on fries). But the philly steak was just perfect. First time here in South Carolina. Stayed in the hotel room the whole day because of the tornado warning. Then get bored later in the afternoon grab my phone and start searching at yelp. Goat's caught my attention specially when I saw their menu particularly the oysters. I ordered Oyster Po-Boy Banh Mi Sandwich and it's mouth watering, yummy! They have full bar and their price is unbeatable. Oooppps! I am not done yet. So, I finished the Oyster sandwich and I ordered Buffalo Fried Oysters and men they are extremely yummy! Whew! I wish I could extend one more day so I could try the rest in the menu... give them both my thumbs up including my toes ... wow!!! Don't leave SC without trying Goat's. Based on the reviews it may be that my expectations were unrealistically high, but maybe those reviews were less than objective, on the other hand. Anyway, I was underwhelmed. I ordered the Buffalo oysters as an app and the Philly cheesesteak as my main. And a glass of Cabernet Franc. The Franc was the best part. And it was so-so. The app and the main arrived at the same time, and the Buffalo oysters were approximately the same temp as, say, warming lights. And since they landed with my main, I was faced with the slightly irritating choice of either eating them first like the app they were supposed to be (and letting the sandwich cool unnecessarily) or eating them second (in which case, cold as the pre-warmed Atlantic ocean), or sending them back. Inasmuch as it had taken them both far too long (for these dishes??) to arrive and I was really hungry by then, I went with the first option and ate the lukewarm app. Maybe they would have been better if they were warmer? Not sure. The cheesesteak gets rave reviews -- just not from me. Penn Station has a tastier Philly cheesesteak than Goat's. Of course I could just be a cheesesteak snob? Never accused of food snobbery before though... Service was slow, as you may have guessed from my review. After she served the meal, the (solo) server visited my table once. And this was a Tuesday night crowd -- as in, maybe 3 tables occupied. Maybe. I am disappointed to have to write this as I generally like almost everywhere I eat and I like to give props to great local places. Maybe they had a bad night. So sad I went 4 years in Columbia before coming here! Not a college student bar, even though it's in the middle of 5 Points. When I went last night, it was mostly an older crowd. Right when you enter, there's a display case of different cakes and desserts on the left. The inside is super cozy, lit by string lights that cover the entire ceiling. I'd rather give 3 1/2, but I'll round up rather than down. Took my daughter, son, and his roommates here for dinner tonight - the night before the UGA game. Got seated quickly and the waitress was attentive. We ordered 5 appetizers - the crab dip, mussels with cream sauce and fries, salmon crostini, brussel sprouts, and the duck poutine. The mussels were good, not great. Needed a little more flavor. Salmon crostini was good/very good. Duck poutine was good/ok. Nothing Canadians would claim. The crab dip was meh. I'd pass. But the brussel sprouts were the bomb. Our main dishes - all of us got either the lobster Mac n cheese or the Philly cheesesteak. Both were excellent. So on food I'd give it a 4-4.5. The atmosphere inside was really nice. Good vibe, good music, cool lighting and art - just a little too loud on the music - especially since we were at an oblong table - no chance to hear the person farthest away. Service - our waitress was super nice and attentive. Wish I got her name. Only problem was it took 5 of us about 2 hours to eat. The kitchen was sooooo slow. It's a busy weekend, and this place was crowded - just not hopping to the point it matched our wait. We started with the appetizers. Three came out - slow - and then about 20-30 minutes later the last two came out. We ordered our mains then, and had to wait about another 45 minutes. That's fine if you are just relaxing with friends, but we told them we were in a small hurry because my son and his roommates are in the marching band and needed to be up by 5:30 am. I have had many good times in the past with this place. The owner is awesome ! The drinks are awesome as well. Yesterday 12/16/2021 I noticed The bartenders and servers stand in groups drinking wine and tend to have an attitude when having to care for the clientele. Had to wave down a worker after waiting more than 10 minutes to get another beer. I've never seen a company who lets the servers drink while at work consistently while standing in groups talking to their friends. My friend spilt her drink after just ordering it and was told that she couldn't get another drink but yet still had to pay for the drink that was spilt. Then the bartender maren came up with a glass of wine in her hand and proceeded to tell us while rolling her eyes and laughing that any normal business would not refill a drink that was spilt. read more

I've been coming here for a while but as of late I have been disappointed with the staff. The last couple of times my party has been ignored at tables because our waitress and bartender have been drinking and chatting at the bar. We had to call for her to come over which I made us feel uncomfortable since there were people at the bar who were getting attention and we did not want to distract other patrons. Last night a friend's glass slipped out of her hand shattering it and getting it all over the table. We did have one waiter come help wipe it up with paper towels but she left the roll on the table and told us we could get the rest. The table was sticky. When we were about to close out my friend asked if she could remove the drink from the tab since she was two sips in and you could tell by the amount of liquid on the table that it was not just ice. Maren, claimed she was the manager, when in reality we know who the actual manager is. She told our friend that if the, "company makes, it we have to buy it." It put a bad taste in our mouth to see them talking behind the bar drinking wine when our friend who is sitting in her own drink had to pay for the drink with no reimbursement or one on the house. They were not too fond getting called out for being slack and rude, but we felt as if something had to be said. We all asked for our checks and the bartenders asked if we could, "could just go" and "I don't even leave a tip." Some of us wanted to leave tips because the waiter was alright but Maren was unnecessarily rude. When we asked for the copy of our slip when they ran our cards we did not have a customer's copy, so I will be checking my bank account for additional charges. We left Maren said have a great night, which was comical because her kindness was insincere. We left to go to another bar which we spoke about in goats because, quite frankly we did not want to be there any longer. Maren showed up there and glared at us. Totally uncalled for. Bad experience overall. It was not busy but our server stood around in the service area talking and not working. Took 20 mins to get first drinks. Again they were not busy. Appetizers took forever and half of them didnt show up until the food came. When we ordered, 10 minutes later they tell us they are out of one of the dishes. We ordered something else and it was out. Their menu has on like six entrees but they were out, beer was warm and only got two rounds of drinks in an hour and a half. Never saw any management. The owners need to assess their staff. I grew up hanging around the previous incarnation of this joint. There was a newsstand nextdoor called Intermezzo and the two were connected by a small hallway, of sorts. In that hallway was a phone...a free phone...slightly hidden and free to the public. My friends and I used to use it to call the weed man or our parents. When I got my first credit card I maxed it out eating deserts here with my friends. All that being said, the new owner has done an outstanding job keeping the original spirit of the place while giving it their own personal touch. When my wife and I celebrated our anniversary there recently, she said to me, "It's like a dream". Now, I don't know about you, but I think that's just about the highest accolade you could ever give a restaurant. It might've been the complimentary champagne talking but hey...none-the-less. So, I really don't care for oysters. I'm just not a fan. I've tried them many times and it just never did it for me. Opie insisted I try their Buffalo Fried Oysters and I obliged. Okay, yeah - suddenly I love oysters (not quite, but these were damn good). I don't recall the entrees because I got drunk right around the time I ate the oysters and we were having an absolute blast. I do remember us looking at each other and making noises, indicating we were REALLY enjoying the food. Overall, it was every bit a 5 star experience. The atmosphere is surreal and enveloping. The drink menu is off the charts. The food will alter your previous understanding of your own taste. Also, almost forgot - music in a place like this is a very big deal to me. This is now my favorite bar in Columbia! I can't speak on the food, I only went in for drinks, but I love the atmosphere. The art work, the lights, and decor in here set a relaxing and unique ambiance that is hard to find in Columbia. Yes the bar is in five points, but dont let that fool you. This is not your typical Five Points college dive bar. I had the Lavender Kiss cocktail and it was fantastic. Not too sweet, not too strong, but just right. The bar tender was attentive and friendly. We are new to the area and decided to try Goat's after another restaurant closed as soon as they sat us. We were past the point of hangry, with a toddler and a newborn who was more than fussy. Upon walking in, it was beautiful. The lights on the ceiling, the music, all of it, it was perfect. I lived in Savannah and it feels a lot like the eclectic bars you find downtown there. It wasn't a college crowd. Once we sat down, we quickly realized it was not a kid friendly restaurant, no high chair or kids menu. I was willing to leave, but our waitress Nicole was amazing every step of the way. There was a huge fish tank that the toddler was amused by, we were pretty secluded in the back, and if the toddler did make a noise it was drowned out by the music. I decided to step out of my box and order the duck poutines, unfortunately they were out of duck, but I got the garlic frites instead. They were awesome, I have no clue what I dipped them in, but it was heavenly. I ordered the goat burger, I didn't really get to eat but a bite Bc the baby was fussy. That bite though, was epic. My husband fed me bites of his philly cheese steak, the cheese was perfectly melted, the bread was the perfect mix of soft and toasted, it literally melted in my mouth. My mom ordered the beef bordelion, y'all this was perfection. It was savory and rich in flavor. It was butter soft and the best tasting thing I've ever had. When you first walk in, they have cakes at the bar that are too beautiful to eat, but we decided to try the turtle cheesecake. If I thought the rest of dinner was amazing, I don't know how to describe the dessert. Literally, out of this world. I could eat here every day for the rest of my life. Wow! Everything is great here, from the decor to the food to the alcohol. The beer and wine selection far outsize the seating capacity, giving you amazing choices in an intimate setting. We were looking forward to a nice meal here. We ordered burgers. They were dry, absolutely no moisture at all. No sauce on the burger. Had to request ketchup and mustard. Apparently they must have been rationing the ketchup because they gave us about a tablespoon in a ramekin for two people. We ordered the tots with cheese sauce and scallions and that was tasty, however they were probably regular frozen tots. We would not go back. read more

Absolutely an awesome restaurant. Friendly staff and a quaint setting. We had a few speciality drinks and they were perfectly prepared. For dinner we had the lobster mac and cheese as well as the beef bourguignon. Both entrées were absolutely outstanding. The lobster macaroni and cheese was creamy and flavorful. The beef was savory and tender and the sliced bread was delectable when dipped in the beef bourguignon. We finished the meal with a salted caramel brownie for dessert. Again we were not disappointed.
