I heard that Goebel's BBQ was some of the Best in Southern Oregon so on one of our trips back from visiting the many waterfalls on highway 62 we stopped and they allowed us to sample some of their beef brisket. We tried it plain sliced and with sauce. WOW! It was very moist and Good. I purchased a pound of the brisket to eat when I got home. Had a wonderful meal plus froze some for later. The mild smoky sweet sauce was excellent too. I would have to agree that it is some of the BEST BBQ in the Rogue River Valley in Southern Oregon. read more

Wish you could smell this authentic Texas barbecue. We were afraid that they would run out of ribs and brisket so we called in our order. Fabulous kitschy BBQ with a cool shop next door. We sat out front on picnic tables and enjoyed our meal. The ribs and brisket had a fabulous rub, the meat just fell off the bone. Barbecue sauce and pickles were on the side. We ordered a pound of ribs and a half a pound of brisket, it cost $22 and we couldn't eat it all. The menu was wonderful, sandwiches, tacos, sides, soups & specials. They are open 11 AM until 8 PM. Laura is fascinating, she came to Oregon via Texas. She shared how she had to bring the smoker from Texas, so cool! The food was so delicious that we ordered more to bring with us to Crater Lake tomorrow for lunch. Hopefully it will get to Crater Lake and we won't eat it first. OK our barbecue was just as good the next day. It was packed beautifully the bread was not soggy, the brisket was juicy, everything was perfect! Funny my husband doesn't like turkey, he tried the turkey salad, and loved it, then I told him what it was he was really impressed. Wish we could celebrate Thanksgiving with you! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place two months ago when we were visiting Oregon and have been hooked since! It was on our lists of places we must visit again before we leave. I'm not a fan of beans at all. Matter of fact, I am the number one hater, but my god the goebel beans changed that. We smelled the bbq while passing by on the way to the rafting drop-off point. I swear I smelled it again 1/2 down the river. After an afternoon of rafting, I wasn't going to leave Shady Cove without it! I had a sliced brisket sandwich for $10 and it had a hearty portion of smoked brisket that a nice thick smoke ring on the edges. I liked everything about the sandwich and even though I had the bbq sauce put on the side, I used the whole cup because it was delish (flavorful, not sugary sweet)! Excellent BBQ find. Got lucky a couple of weeks on our way back from Union Creek with pork belly burnt ends for an awesome snack. The car was enveloped with such a luscious smoke smell and the taste didn't disappoint. Came back yesterday to try an actual meal. My chopped brisket sandwich was the best I have had since being in Texas. Just the right combination of smoke and tanginess. Large portions on the meat too! Cowboy beans were on point too. My husband said the smoke flavor on his Turkey sandwich was excellent. Kids tried pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw and potato salad which all provided the balance of BBQ and salad. Service was great! Food was ok. We ordered brisket sandwich potato salad and macaroni salad. The brisket had a smoky flavor but not much of anything else, did melt in your mouth. The bbq is certainly on a par with Texas barbecue. Turns out Laura the owner moved from New Braunfels Texas to Oregon a few years back. We ordered a pound of spare ribs and a 1/2 lb of brisket and sat outside on her picnic table and enjoyed this meal. The meat just fell off the bones. Both were cooked with a fabulous rub and barbecue sauce on the side was delicious. Dinner was $22, it was more than we could possibly eat. As we were leaving the next day for Crater Lake Natl Park, we ordered a little extra. We had enough for lunch the next day as well as our next day dinner. I saw this little shop on my way up to Crater Lake and made a note to return to try it. The ladies were friendly and let us sample both the sliced and chopped brisket. I decided to get 2 chopped brisket tacos which are served on flour tortillas with pickles, onions and BBQ sauce. I also tried the mac-n-cheese, Goebel beans, and country potato salad. The Goebel beans were a bit spicy but had a lot of flavor. The food here tastes better than the food served at Crater Lake (also Crater Lake dining hours are limited during COVID-19). I'd recommended requesting BBQ sauce on the side instead of having it pre-smothered on the brisket. Since it's quite a drive from Crater Lake, I appreciated that they had a restroom for customers in the store. read more

I've been wanting to try Goebel's Countey Store and BBQ after reading the reviews on Facebook and here. It did not disappoint! I ordered the two meat plate with two sides and a roll plus sweet tea. Desert was banana pudding. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful as was the brisket. I usually hesitate ordering brisket after so many bad meals in the past at other BBQ's, Goebel's was exceptional. Great smoke, tender and mounts, not dried out (I ordered chopped). The Goebel Beans were a white bean in a sweet sauce, not overpowering and served topped with smoked sausage. The Mac and Cheese was tasty, I like a little more cheese but the flavor was good and you didn't get grit texture from the roux. Banana pudding was fresh and flavorful. The only thing I'd like to see added is a sweet (KC style sauce option). Excellent and worth stopping if you're in Shady Cove. read more

Amazing food and the most courteous hosts one can find! While on our way to a different bbq place, we spotted this as they had a board saying 'Texas' bbq and boy! what a find this place is! We ordered family pack sliced brisket, sausage, jalapeño poppers, unsweetened tea and banana pudding. Each and every dish is exceptional including the unsweetened tea - it is properly brewed and not a syrup mixed with water. Banana pudding is heavenly! Well, so was everything we loved the food here so much that while on our way back to WA, we took a 30min detour to pick up food that lasted a week for us lol This truly is texan bbq with the perfect smoky flavor, even in the sausage.
