We kicked things off with the hot crab dip served with garlic bread, and it was absolutely incredible the perfect appetizer to share and FRESH!! For our entrées, we ordered the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, Fettuccine Alfredo, Lobster Ravioli & Beef Tenderloin, and the kids' Chicken Tenders with fries. The chicken tenders were a little under-seasoned, but every other dish was phenomenal. The seafood was fresh, the flavors were rich, and everything was cooked beautifully. What truly set this restaurant apart was the service. It was some of the very best we've experienced at any restaurant. Our server was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made our entire meal even more enjoyable. We couldn't leave without dessert and are so glad we didn't! The strawberry cheesecake and the Jack Daniel's Chocolate Mousse were both delicious. The cheesecake crust, in particular, was absolutely incredible and one of the best we've ever had. Food was good. Expected more flavor / spice from a Cajun based menu. Everything that I tried was closer to bland than spicy. But everyone has their personal preference. Service was very good. We arrived at 5:00. Only a few tables were occupied. We had a party of 8 & could not be seated until "I see everyone's faces." Two in our party were elderly & took 3-4 minutes to get in the door from parking. I felt like I was on the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld. We ordered 4 appetizers, so it would not have been an issue to be seated just a few minutes ahead of them, in my opinion. A cozy Cajun spot in the heart of downtown Boyd, Texas! They have a rotating menu and they don't allow substitutions. The food is excellent. I don't think I've ever had anything that I didn't like and I think I've had every item on the menu. Some of my favorites are the shrimp and grits, the seafood hush puppies, and the red fish. Outstanding as always! A group of 10 of us early in a Saturday evening and we were well taken care of by our waiter. I did miss his name because of the noise level. I had the halibut which was perfectly cooked. My husband had the jambalaya pasta and he couldn't quit talking about how good it was. We've been looking forward to eating here since it was on tv many years ago, and we were finally in the area close enough to make a stop for dinner on Friday night. As we entered, all that we could smell was fresh paint. And not the clean fresh smell of paint, but more of a pungent won't be able to taste anything paint. We overheard others asking about the smell as they had finished eating and the hostesses said there was painting going on next door. I had looked over the menu online before arriving and noted the snarkiness and sarcasm - don't ask for substitutions and incomplete parties will not be sat. With 2 of 3 of us there, we were snarled at and tossed a pager and told to let them know when the other person arrives. Ok, I get it. It's a small place, it would slow table turns to seat incomplete parties OR we could've added to the ticket by purchasing appetizers and drinks while waiting. But ok, we waited a whole 2 minutes and our 3rd arrived. Very excited to try the food and figured out our order. We ordered the crab dip and bread. The bread was good, but the crab dip was no more than real crab (at least!) mixed with cream cheese. It was visually unappealing and tasted just as lackluster. My cats would've appreciated it. Needless to say we pushed it to the table's edge and the server thought it meant we wanted it boxed to go. Got 2 of the TV dinners (very cute concept!) as it was basically a bento box of assorted items from the menu. The gumbo broth was good, the protein in it was quantifiable, but tasted like there was not much simmer time or seasoning to let all the flavors gain some depth. The texture of the shrimp & grits was slimy and inedible - and I've had many shrimp & grits which is one of my favorite dishes...but not here. The goat cheese salad was amazing! Best thing I had overall. And then came dessert, we ordered the bread pudding and the fancy dessert was cornmeal blueberry upside down cake. The bread pudding was all wrong. The formed shape and smooth texture was nothing like a bread pudding should be. The blueberry cake was very close to a Cracker Barrel blueberry pancake, but even more overloaded with berries. At least it sort of felt good for you. We didn't eat much of those either, and the arrogance of the ambiance didn't even cross our server's mind that we were displeased. I guess he thought we just wanted to take it all home? The server's service was good, except for reading the table. The hostesses were too preoccupied with her family also dining there. The prices were fair for the serving size and food quality. The atmosphere was nice, except for the overpowering paint smell. Needless to say, we won't have any reason to return. I know this is a favorite restaurant for the area, but we were not even slightly won over. That's ok, that's why there's variety, choices, and the freedom to choose. Best of luck! read more

This place has gone through quite a few changes with the new owner. Menu is still pretty much the same but there are some really nice standouts. The Lobster Ravioli was superb. About 8 soft pillows filled with lobster meat with a nice Alfredo type sauce. It also comes with six shrimp, diced asparagus, blistered tomato. Good sized serving, excellent preparation and one happy Wife. I had the shrimp and crawfish etoufe. Was a little disappointed in this one because the sauce was very thin, less viscous than a light gravy. The shrimp were great, the flavor of the sauce was excellent and the asparagus and steamed rice were good. I also had a cup of shrimp and crab gumbo, still a standout of all gumbos. Finally my MIL had the vaunted Bento Box with crab cake, gumbo, shrimp and grits, and the gogo salad fill a beautiful Japanese bento box. She couldn't sing its praises enough. We shared a fried green bean appetizer which was crispy, cooked perfectly and served with a wasabi ranch sauce. Deserts were the "To Die For" and house made salted caramel Ice cream. All of it perfection and served by knowledgable severs, quick and professional with food runners spot on timing wise. The place is super clean, lighting just so, and a warm atmosphere. We have been here 3 times since our move to this area Now to be fair My friends rant and rave of how great authentic Cajun cooking it is Well it isn't that level of a backwoods Cajun restaurant But It is a good to great place to eat I have their redfish dish which is quite good Prime rib - which was almost cooked to perfection Deserts you can't grow wrong as they are all made from scratch The other drawback is this is such a staple of the better restaurants in this area you need to arrive early as the outside is usually a long one read more

We had dinner here last night. We were told it would be about 30 minutes until a table was available and we actually surprised we thought it would be longer. We ended up being seated within 15 minutes which was AMAZING! Once seated we were able to order pretty quickly as we knew the menu very well I can't believe I've never reviewed this establishment before. my friend ordered the dinner with the shrimp and crab gumbo a great choice for someone that wants to try a little bit of everything. We also had the hot crab dip which was amazing and I had the shrimp and grits which was delicious. We were so full that we passed on dessert but look forward to trying one in the future. First time checking this place out. I am highly allergic to crab so I should have reviewed the menu before coming. A lot of the food has real crab so if you love crab... this place is for you! Hush puppies are served with a marmalade sauce and what tasted like a honey mustard style sauce. The corn bread catfish was very good, plump and fresh. The bento plate was good, served with gumbo, crab cake, shrimp and grits and salad. The redfish pontchartrain was good, a little on the over cooked side but sauce made up for it. The food, however, was delicious from the gumbo to the salads to the salmon to the pasta, and it was ready on time! Glad we did takeout because the line was out the door. We have been meaning to go and give this place a try since we moved here last year. Man, I am so mad we waited this long! The place is called GoGo Gumbo in Boyd. Everything is house made and freaking amazing. What you see pictured is called the TV dinner. It's a Bento box with crab cake and slaw, chicken and sausage gumbo(you can upgrade to crab and shrimp gumbo), shrimp and grits and a GoGo salad(baby greens, baby spinach, sliced pecans, feta cheese and house made balsamic). Also my daughter's Cole slaw and one of the hush puppies from her dinner. She gave it to me willingly! Everything on the plate was freaking amazing. The crab cake was tender and almost melted in my mouth. Shrimp and grits was cooked to perfection and creamy. Salad was crisp fresh and down right delicious. The gumbo was seasoned perfectly and piping hot. I almost melted the roof of my mouth. Not pictured is the key lime pie. So fresh and tart, again simply amazing! This is not my first time here and can't excuse myself for not posting a review before. We have driven up from Fort Worth 3-4 times, specifically just to eat dinner here. Thankfully the dining room is finally opened back up after being closed for months due to Covid. Get here early at they open at 4pm and close at 9pm 4 days a week. Bring your own booze to if you want. You'll never expect New Orleans style ( and quality ) cajun food in the middle of a country town. That's exactly what you'll experience. Once you step inside the restaurant you'll feel like you're on the gulf coast. We started with the seafood hush puppies. These are little nuggets of pure pleasure. The outside is crispy and inside soft and packed full of flavor. Hands down the best hush puppies I've eaten EVER!! My wife and I split a bowl of shrimp and grits then the smoked seafood plate. So I'll start with the shrimp/grits. Seasoned perfectly and large scrumptious shrimp - and they don't scrimp on the shrimp either..LOL The seafood plate is A LOT of food and every bite better than the last. It has two LARGE scallops, stuffed lobster tail, shrimp and salmon. As if that's not enough a healthy heaping of the best mac n' cheese and green beans. Everything cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. Even down to the perfectly seasoned green beans. Make sure you leave room for dessert. The homemade desserts are every bit worth the drive as the entrees. We chose the To Die Four and Bread pudding. My choice was to die for cake that was mouth watering good. It has layers of fruit, cream, graham cracker and wafers and this incredible raspberry sauce. We were so full I had to pack 1/2 of it up and take home. My wife had the bread pudding and loved it. Now, I'm not a bread pudding fan but this was so good I took a second bite. This place is worth the drive.. Birthday month is coming to an end. My sponsor made a great selection. My sister Colleen joined us on this adventure. A small downtown row of shops houses this restaurant. Limited parking so we parked remotely and walked over. I selected the TV Tray - described by our server as "it has everything on it" , well 4 items. But they were fantastic. My sponsor ordered the Jambalaya pasta dish, my sister ordered the fried catfish. As an appetizer we had the Hot Crab Dip with Garlic bread. Of course we had to have dessert, they each had the Bread Pudding with Ice cream. I had a chocolate type cake with a lot of whipped cream. I give it a three but I want to give it a 2.... I think I wanted to give it a 2 bc I drove an hour to the place and waited 2.5 hours to be seated. (Rolls eye emoji) While we wait outside in the heat everyone is saying how outstanding the food is. I think they all put a little too much on it. The food is eh... it's ok. Nothing stood out to make me want to make that drive and wait that long for the food. The ru in the gumbo was burned but the sausage in the gumbo was good. Barely any chicken in it. The fish was cool, nothing to RAVE about. The pasta wasn't memorable but I DONT think it was NASTY My wife took one bite of the crab cakes and didn't finish them. Small town location, but packed with folks! Saturday night and our wait was only like 20 min so not bad. Sat at the counter with my wife and while not a booth or table, still was nice. I really am excited that our friends took us here, before the COVID19 Quarantine. Planning to go back, as soon as we can! We are from New Orleans, and from the time to walk in, until you leave it feels like you are in a NOLA restaurant. It is BYOB, so each couple brought a bottle. The restaurant gave us their pimento cheese to try complimentary, which was very nice, especially because it was delicious. We shared the Crab Dip, for an appetizer. I I had the Crab Cake dinner. It was delicious and the French Fries brought back memories, of eating on the Lake Front, in New Orleans. My husband and one of our friends had the Shrimp & Grits, which they really enjoyed. Came in town while on a visit to a local golf resort and was informed by locals to try out Go Go Gumbo. I'm a big fan of cajun/creole food so it was nice to get a recommendation that I love. Not sure if I'm with the hype on this place.....the service was great overall, very high energy and lots of hospitality...but the food was sorely lacking. I started with the soft shell crab appetizer and it was covered in a salty batter...much like fish batter and the crab was undetectable. The salad was just OK....wasn't a big fan of the cilantro ranch dressing... The stuffed shrimp were pretty bland as were the rice and veggies that came with it. So there is always so much hype about this place so I've given it 3 x the chance and I'm just not understanding. The gumbo is subpar. It had two pieces of shrimp didn't see any crab meat and the roux was bland. The soft shell crab tasted like fish as tho they cooked it in the fish grease.
