We rented some plain ol' pedal powered bikes for the day, and they were total crap. The frame and brakes were fine, but the shifters clearly hadn't been adjusted in years and the chain was probably an original and skipped all over. They kept shifting out of gear when you didn't want them to (climbing) and not shifting when you needed them to. I said something to the staff when we returned and they just made an excuse about being impossible to stay on top of maintenance when people "abuse" the bikes. My bike even had a seat post that wouldn't lock in - so about 5 miles away from the shop and it had slid down all the was to the frame - I was climbing hills in a bike that wouldn't downshift and a seat about 5 inches too low. The shop knew the post bracket had one stripped nut when they were adjusting it for me, and tightened the other one mightily - but it wasn't sufficient. We got by and made it back safely after putting about 15 miles on them - including a miserable climb to diamond head trailhead. I'm sure these guys have a great business with things like scooters and other more popular items, so I'll avoid giving one star - but they should not send people out on the crap bikes they have. I implore them - just don't advertise renting regular bikes if you can't maintain them at a bare minimum usable level - take them off the menu. read more

Rent here everytime I come to Honolulu. Was here in January and rented for 2 days and had no issues. Super easy drop off and pickup, deposits come fast. A lot of bad reviews I see if of them is about keeping deposits. I got reminded 3 times before I left to take a walk around of my moped. So make that the first thing you do. Recently went end of Aug beg of Sept. can't remember names but the crew working morning Sept 1st female at the desk helped us and was very helpful on where to go as it was just me and my girlfriend. We declined the coverage because we only got it for 4 hrs. When declining they're not crazy about it or make it a big deal but they do mention that anything can happened and we'd be responsible. Younger gentlemen was also talking to us about places to eat and what to watch out for. Said he just moved there within the last year or 2. Gave us a rundown on the brand new fleet of mopeds , the do's and donts and off we went. Came back September 3rd with a group of 7 and the same pair of workers helped us and recognized us from a couple days before. We booked for 8 hours and they were able to accommodate us and get us out the office quick. Very helpful again and we all declined coverage again. Except this time literally 5 mins upon departure a lady was on her phone and hit my cousin off her moped causing minor damage to the mopeds paint and brake lever. My cousin had road rash and small cuts on her hands. We sat for about an hour thinking how much this was going to cost us . We exchanged information and enjoyed our day as the moped was still in tact and rideable. Upon our return we immediately told the younger gentlemen with the longer blonde hair about the incident. Never asked questions about the moped , proceeded to pull out a first aid kit and clean her scrapes and bandage it. It made us feel way more comfortable and that the company cared more about her wellbeing. Thank you brother! Now we inspected the moped and he did it all Infront of us so he didn't hide anything from us. We got the bill (which the driver paid for) and he wished us well. I've been missing my motorcycle so some friends and I decided to rent for the day and cruise around the island. The staff was extremely friendly, my bike (Honda Rebel 300) was in beautiful shape, and the location was easy to access. We just parked along the Ala Wai and were able to walk over to the shop. The owner was working the register when we were there and was super attentive - he was helping the guests in front of us but overheard us talking about wanting water and offered some cups for us. Pro-tip, spend the extra few bucks for the Loss Damage Waiver because: 1. better safe than sorry, and 2. they let you have the motorcycle until later in the day. This was perfect for us as we didn't have to rush our cruise around the island. Will definitely be coming back to Cruzin when I need to get in my motorcycle fix! read more

Traveling is bound to encourage you in trying new and thrilling activities. So it was only a matter of time before we tried riding mopeds for the first time! This is definitely a popular way to transport around on the island and is amazingly efficient on gas. You can book your moped day of but you have a better opportunity of taking these bad boys out if you reserve your slot in advance. We booked ours the day before for six people, premium mopeds too. Checking in does take some time. I advise you arrive about 15 minutes before to give you ample time in choosing the right sized helmet (although not required while riding), having the employee bring your moped(s) out, then giving you a quick demonstration on what and what not to do. We had three women 5'3" and under riding the premiums. It was a little difficult but doable, however, I recommend renting the regular sized moped if you're shorter than this. They're also extremely heavy, be careful! FYI, there is an option to reserve for the whole day. Our reservation was for three hours which sounds like a lot but it goes by fast! We rode all around Waikiki and a little outside of the area too. The fuel gauges on all our bikes didn't even go down, crazy! Cruzin' Hawaii even mentioned to us don't worry about returning it on empty. No wonder! Lol. We all had a wonderful time and would absolutely return! I rented the most expensive motorcycle and it was a terrible experience. I got the damage waiver and only rented the vehicle for a day. It sat in a driveway most of the day within my eyesight. They found some damages that were already on the vehicle and accused me of the damages. Don't waste your time with this cheap, scam store. Go to a real motorcycle shop. Even their beach and golf used equipment for rent is subpar. they're clearly there to get as much money out of you as possible. It's a very sad and upsetting experience, avoid at all cost if you don't want to put up with this crap! They should change their name from Cruisin Hawaii to Cheating Hawaii! read more

If you're staying around Waikiki a 2 wheeled source of transportation is a must! I can only imagine how much time we saved by not having to look for parking everywhere we went as it's VERY busy. Just roll up to your destination and boom. Now don't forget to find a bike rack or tall pole to lock the bike up to! (Motorized bike theft does happen here). Plus it's far cheaper than a car rental and we spent less than $10 on gas in a total of 4 days. Now onto the reason why I didn't opt for 5 stars, PLEASE clean the rental helmets. Yes helmets are legally optional here and most people don't wear them but personally I'd prefer to have one on in a worst case scenario but the helmets were so gross with dirt, DANDRUFF, & FLAKES I unwillingly didn't wear one the entire time. & no it wasn't just a one off helmet that may have just been missed but all of them were disgusting :/ Mahalo! read more

MOPED LIFE This review is months overdue. But it needs to be written! I like random fun and I'm very spontaneous. If I ask you "do you wanna ride with me" I'm not talking about sharing an Uber. One of the funnest ways around the island is on a moped... without a helmet... and just cruising. Picked this shop because it was between the condo in Honolulu and my homeboy's hotel in Waikiki (easier to get to and less people traffic). Arrive, drop a deposit, sign some documents, get a quick overview, and tutorial... and off we go. The mopeds aren't the fastest transportation but it is convenient and fun. And at times, scary! No need for a bike licenses, only a regular drivers license and some common sense. We rented the mopeds for half a day because we got there around noon and had to return the mopeds by closing. We had no boundaries and can go anywhere on the island as long as we return the mopeds at full tank. Locals like breaking into the compartment of rental mopeds so don't leave anything of valuable there. And each mopeds comes with chain to lock up the mopeds. Our route: - Waikiki - diamond head - Hawaii kai - The Kahala (to see the dolphins) - and back - gas station across the street for fill up Try not to get hit by cars or run over any pedestrians, especially at Waikiki. We were zooming through the streets and there were times I felt scared yet had a liberating feeling at the same time. As we returned the mopeds we received free Hawaii shirts. Go next door to the shirt shop if sizes need to be exchanged. I've been a passenger on sports bikes before but never rode my own moped. And it was thrilling zooming at 40-50mph on my own two wheels. Will be adding this to my next itinerary when I come back... next time go around the entire island. Good times! read more

Moped/scooter rental was something I looked into for our trip to Hawaii after seeing someone mention Cruzin Hawaii on their IG story. It looked like a fun way to get around the island at your own pace. For the price, this is a great way to see Oahu! You get the equipment for the whole day, and they offer late returns (10PM) so you aren't stuck with the 5PM "during business hours" return time. We booked online, super easy and received email confirmation. Finding the place was easy. They have so much equipment available for rent from scooters and mopeds to motorcycles and even water equipment. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the equipment and offered a map with suggestions. We rented two large mopeds for the day so we could go further. That was a suggestion on the website. Not sure if the gas gauges were broken or if the fuel mileage is that good on a full tank, but we went all the way to Kailua for lunch and and back and the gas gauge still read full! We did have some confusion on how to open the seat storage, so we made a quick phone call and they were able to walk us through it quick. Just make sure to ask questions prior to leaving on how to operate the lock as well. Just good to know information for when you make stops because you will. This is literally the most fun and convenient way to get around Oahu. You see mopeds and scooters getting around everywhere. Rules of the road still apply. I felt safe with the equipment. We had a great experience with the mopeds from Cruzin Hawaii. This is my first time renting from them but it was my son's second time. Both times, the service and experience was great. In the last rental, we had 8 mopeds and this was during the third week of September. My son reserved all 8 mopeds online. It says the deposit was $400 but it only held 50% of the total plus deposit which was a little less than the $400. At the end, the correct amount was charged. That part was kinda confusing. The staff was great and helpful. They show you what to do and not to do. For new riders, use the left hand brake. It'll avoid accidents from trying to brake with your right hand where you also have the throttle. Hawaii doesn't have a helmet law but you are required to take one. You can put it in the moped storage if you decide not to use it. Some of the mopeds are a little slower than others but it was still a fun ride. read more
