    Gojo Combo

Amazing food and the best people! I've come here every week for the past 6 weeks while overcoming a medical issue with my stomach. My friend recommended Gojo after I asked her for help and she said this food helps her diabetic mom too. My family comes once a week and enjoys their cultural decorations, food, and company. Who knows, maybe the company helped heal my stomach too! :) Let me tell you - the food is not only delicious, you GET SO MUCH. The photo is half of the Gojo Combo. It's also reasonably priced for the amount and quality of food. Never too spicy, always seasoned great, tender meats and veggies. We'll be back weekly even once my stomach is healed!

The norm is when something is on your table when you walk in and sit down you are not charged. When my group sat down each person had a bottle of water at their place. Before we walked out, each of us had to pay for the bottle of water that was at each person's place. There was no notice. I asked for a check while leaving. I got one but it was not itemized. The water cost about $3.00 The waiter noticed he gave the wrong dish to someone. After the patron told the waiter he had eaten from it, the waiter wanted to exchange dishes. Objections were voiced. The waiter kept saying it was OK. The other parties said it was not. Eventually the waiter acquiesced. These were not expensive dishes. Their primary ingredient is dried legumes, not lobster. There was a about a cup of the legumes in each one. There was no excuse for this. Go-Jo is place where you are deceived about what is included is not one to be trusted. Where one-half eaten bowl of split peas is imprudently exchanged for another's. It poses a danger to our health.

Downright home cooked Ethiopian food full of flavor and authenticity. The veggie dishes were soooo good...coupled with the spicy Awaze Tibs and the meat dishes... such a satisfying Ethiopian food fix. The restaurant is a no frills hole in the wall ...but the authentic meal and coffee ceremony set up is legit!

The owner and his wife are very kind! We had dinner and ordered a combination platter which was very fun. We got to try a little bit of everything and now we know our favorites for next time. He helped explain everything and didn't rush us.

We enjoyed our dinner at Gojo! The vegetarian options were all excellent. The meat options, the sauce was great however the meat texture was a bit tough to eat. Loved the decor. Service was a bit slow but very friendly staff so we didn't mind. We will be coming back!

Pretty solid, inexpensive, good-value Ethiopian food in a no-frills setting. I showed up looking for a quick lunch, and that's what I got. I ordered their veggie combo ($16 plus tax), which comes with 7 different veggie dishes and injera. The highlights were definitely the misir wot and the shiro (middle and bottom middle), with the other dishes being rather middling. Good portion, good value and pleasant service. Solid spot.

A friend and I ate here recently. We did sort of question the looks and location, however once inside we were warmly greeted. We both had the Gojo Combo and I have to say of the three Ethiopian restaurants we have tried in the valley this is the best of the three. The combo gave us a great taste of the veggie and meat options. Yum! Definitely recommend.

Food was quite good and service was good enough. The major concern was the fact that there was a mf bottle cap in our dish ! Not sanitary. I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but they need to take more precaution because trust me, this was not appetizing... On top of that, when we notified the worker, he reached with his bare hand in to grab the bottle cap and remove it, saying "sorry". Sorry for the bad review but I had to bring this to attention

Café Lalibela was closed this week and I was craving Ethiopian food so I decided to check this place out. The restaurant is a little hidden gem in the area. The family that owns the restaurant is very friendly. The interior of the restaurant is simpler than Café Lalibela but the food is just as good. The meat combo is a good way to try the different meats. I do wish the portion was slightly bigger because it was so good!

Any bad review about this place is pure delusion. The food here is amazing and seasoned to perfection, every time I come here the flavor is consistent and the previous time. I've been to other Ethiopian restaurants and this one reigns superior. The service and ambiance is okay, nothing too crazy or exciting but I'm not letting that get in the way of how good the food is. Don't second guess trying this place because if you do then you're missing out on a good food experience.

Great service! Incredible food! Food was great and portion sizes are stuffing for the price. Will definitely be my go to for Ethiopian food now!

Gojo Ethiopian food is amazing ! Quick service. Easy pick up. My sister and I have returned a few times since we tried this restaurant. So far never disappoints and the serving is huge. I would definitely return again and I recommend this place if you are a fan of ethnic food in general and Ethiopian food

I love traveling to Africa and have visited a number of times. I haven't made it over to Ethiopia yet. Café Lalibela serves authentic Ethiopian cuisine with recipes that have been passed down through generation. The family that owns this place are passionate about sharing their culture. One of the family members came out and greeted our table. She shared a little bit about the history of Café Lalibela and how they made their way to Tempe. The staff also described the food that we were about to eat as they brought it out. We ordered a couple of platters and enjoyed eating it communally. The menu consists of Ethiopian favorites like Doro Wat, Tibs, Kitfo and a variety of vegan and gluten-free dishes. I am a big lentil fan and love that lentils are a big part of Ethiopian cuisine. I had the Lalibela Deluxe platter in front of me most of the evening and enjoyed the flavors and spices of each of the items. Ethiopian food is so vibrant and colorful. If you have never tried, they do not use silverware to pick up their food. Food is eaten with Injera - a spongy pancake-like flatbread that you use to scoop up your food. Café Lalibela has beautiful African décor all around the restaurant. They have a small shop in the front that sells gifts, food items, tea and coffee. I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans to take home.

Flavor was alright, I guess not too sure what to have expected. One of the meats that were given to us, which happened to be my favorite, there was literally maybe three pieces to it, then the rest had a bit more. Ended up just letting my friend eat the whole thing since there wasn't as much protein as we thought there was going to be. The meal was suppose to feed two I believe. The appetizer we got was probably the best thing we ordered in my opinion.

The space has a classy, mid-upscale vibe definitely giving "bougie" in the best way while still feeling comfortable and inviting. We visited on a Saturday, and the live music was phenomenal. The musicians played a great mix of current songs, which created an amazing atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The staff greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. I also loved the thoughtful touch of offering personal handheld fans to guests if they got warm. The bar was another standout. I really appreciated that the cocktails are crafted using African or Black-owned liquors, making the drink menu feel unique and intentional. If you don't drink alcohol, they also have a wonderful selection of mocktails and natural teas, so there are plenty of options for everyone. The food took a little longer than expected to come out, but nothing unreasonable. The portions are generous, and the prices are fair for the quality and amount of food you receive. We ordered the oxtails, jollof rice, broccoli, peri-peri chicken, and pineapple chicken. Everything was delicious, especially the oxtails and jollof rice. My only recommendation is to be prepared if you're not a fan of spicy food the piri piri chicken definitely has some heat. Since they don't offer ranch or similar cooling sauces, just keep that in mind when ordering. Overall, Latha offers more than just great food it's a full experience. Between the beautiful atmosphere, live music, welcoming hospitality, thoughtfully curated drinks, and flavorful African cuisine, it's a restaurant I would absolutely recommend. I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

And this is why: We arrived on a Tuesday around 5.30 pm. The posted hour for opening was 4.00 pm. The doors were locked. I called the restaurant. The voicemail eventually answered with the business hours and that they were busy serving other customers. We looked on Yelp for other Ethiopian places that had Kitfo and/or Gored Gored. I saw the restaurants other (first) location and called that number. It was answered and I asked about the restaurant not being open. I was assured that someone was on the way. We decided to walk around the deserted shopping center but then found an Albertsons there. We needed a few things, so we went grocery shopping. Upon returning to the restaurant, we found it open. No one was there, so we stood there for a short time. Eventually a smiling man greeted us and asked if we were the ones who had called. I nodded and he profusely apologized for the delay. After a while of sitting at a table, he returned to take our order. We wanted Kitfo (raw), Chicken tibs, and the 4 veggie combo with tikel gomen, gomen, misir wat, and yesuf fitfit. I had never had the last and was excited to try it. Since there were no Ethiopian beers like Harar or Bedel, we settled for a Modelo especial draft, our favorite Mexican beer. The waiter (who was the owner of the two restaurants, as it turned out later), asked what we would like if there was no Kitfo, the main thing we were there for. We decided to get beef tibs, in that case. Eventually the food arrived with no Kitfo, but beef tibs, Misir wat, tikil gomen, gomen and salad. He was unable to do the yesuf fitfit. He offered a substitute and we got the keyser. The food was good. Not the best Ethiopian food I've had, but authentic tasting. The salad lacked acid. It was salty, but I don't mind that part. The veggies were done correctly. The beef tibs were heavy on the rosemary but pleasant in taste. There were only onions, no hot peppers like in other versions. As always, we ordered too much. The owner, Andu, gave us a complimentary piece of cake to take with us and recommended we visit his first restaurant in Phoenix where we may have gotten kitfo. In my 4 star rating, I only considered the food and the lovely service we received. I did not consider that the opening times were ignored, and we could not get 2 of the dishes we wanted that were on the menu. The next time we are in town, we will try the Phoenix location.
