This place was clean and had a dark ambiance with warm wood finishes. They had lots of seating and the service was fast. We ordered the Traditional Hand-Pulled Beef Noodles and the Dan Dan Noodles. Traditional Hand-Pulled Beef Noodles (5/5) had a clear, rich flavourful beef broth. The noodles were perfect in texture and consistency. It was chewy and bouncy. We enjoyed the taste of the Sichuan peppercorns and the star anise. The beef slices were tender and were thinly sliced. Dan Dan Noodles (3/5) was fragrant and aromatic. It had peanuts which brought out the nutty flavour of the dish together with the spicy sesame sauce. It was savoury with a slight kick from the chilli oil. The bok choy was cooked perfectly with a crunch to each bite. The texture of the noodles in this dish, however, was a bit tough and was unpleasantly chewy which was quite disappointing since the flavour of the dish was so delicious. The dish also came with the clear beef broth for sipping. Overall, the dishes were not overly spicy compared to what we typically go for. They do have chilli oil and soy sauce per table. The soy sauce is not needed but we did need more chilli oil which we happily helped ourselves to.
This was the prettiest (and biggest) bowl of bean sauce noodles I've ever had. The bowl was literally never ending noodles. I loved that you could choose which noodle you wanted, from thin to thick and that they hand pulled them after you ordered. It was packed with veggies too. There was only one waitress and we were basically left to our own devices after she brought the food. We paid at the front counter and they had a raffle spin the wheel for discounts on your next meal or freebies.

Service is a tad on the slow side, and the tables are a bit too close together (you'll be unwillingly eavesdropping), but the food has always been good. Prices may seem a bit high but the portions are very generous. Usually lasts me 2 meals. I especially like their stir fried noodles though there's a bit of a wait compared to when getting the soup noodles.
Gol's is your standard hand pulled noodle spot! I got the beef with the wider noodles, and each bite was delicious and comforting, especially on a winter day. The service was efficient (particularly since you order online). It wasn't too busy on this particular day when I visited, but the restaurant was clean and comfortable.
We were craving noodles and heard about this hand pulled noodle place and decided to try. Lots of seating for a restaurant along Yonge, but still better for mid size parties....perhaps 4-6 max. Three of us tried 3 different dishes and mixed reviews. We definitely could have ordered two dishes. Noodles are very filling and they are generous with their portions. My 12 year old said the noodles were too 'hard'.... perhaps too chewy? But that's the aspect I like! So, maybe just different preferences. However, of the three dishes we both liked the fried noodles the best. You can choose the thickness of the noodles, since it's all hand made....that was kind of cool! Prices are decent and food is tasty. But not sure if I'll be back. Especially since there are so many other places to try. We'll see!
I went to school in Waterloo so I have had my share of experiences with Gol's - all good ones. They have come a long way since then. I finally visited the North York location for the first time. Overall, the food quality is the same but the price has gone way up. I remember the days where I used to pay under $15 for the large bowl of noodles, which could feed two people easily. I think now, this is the price of the small bowl! While the amazing soup flavor and noodle texture remains the same, it's not as an amazing deal as before. Totally understand that it was considered an extremely cheap meal before, but that's a pretty big increase! Still, I would recommend this place due to the delicious noodles and decent offerings of side dishes. I'd recommend the thickest noodles (they have about 7 options) for your beef noodles.
Good spot for late night beef noodles (open until midnight). The beef soup has a decent beef flavour but is a bit on the salty side. I got the type 5 noodles which are the thickest round noodle offered. The noodles were slightly undercooked, but otherwise good. The apps we ordered were all pretty good -they had good seasoning and flavour. Would recommend if you're looking for an affordable and quick soup noodle meal!
Delicious Chinese style noodles nearby Finch station. We received a huge portion of Zia Jiang noodles and stir fry noodles with chicken. Both were yummy, though I like the stir fry one more. There were several different options for noodle thickness. Note, the widest option isn't available for stir fry. I appreciate the server asking about our spice level and whether we want cilantro in our noodles. While I like the spice and cilantro, my SO didn't so we had both on the side so we can both enjoy the noodles the way we like it! I really like their chili oil that they provided on the side. More fragrant than spicy. It wasn't too busy when we went for lunch and there were many tables for 2.
This time, I tried the Chinese-style hand-pulled noodles and mixed noodles. The overall portion size is quite generous. I particularly enjoyed the mixed noodles; they had a lot of ingredients and were very refreshing to eat. It was really good! 今次試咗呢間中式拉麵同埋拌麵。整體份量都算大。我特別鍾意佢嘅拌麵，配料好多，食起上嚟好爽口，非常唔錯。

It's really unfortunate that in the beginning they make it really good but as time goes on , the quality and service just gets worse overtime. The soup base is not as flavourful and very bland. When you put the noodles in a bland soup it just taste like flour water. It's not very good. I opted into add a tea egg. The egg yolk is overcoooked and not very tasty. The noodle part is good, freshly handmade . Good texture and fresh. The Dan Dan noodle was good. More flavour and it's not a noodle soup. It's a dried noodle dish. The seating is very uncomfortable so this place is better suited for a quick meal. There is no cash discount. Only Tuesdays If you don't finish and need to pack it to go, they charge $0.50 per container and they don't tell you. It was a surprise later we found on the bill.

Bowl sizes come in regular and large and you can get spicy or non spicy. The beef is beef shank sliced thin...very thin! A few more slices would have been good. You can make your bowl of noodles a combo by adding a side dish and egg. Someone at our table got the Dan Dan noodles and it comes with a bowl of soup. I think your supposed it add some of the soup to the noodles?...if you didn't the noodles looked dry/clumpy. There were only two servers at lunch time but the food came quickly. We were a part of 7 and the food came in the order that the order was taken which is pretty good.
Delicious noodle soup, different than your typical chinese fare. Fresh handpulled noodles is delicious, makes a huge difference. Nice modern and clean interior, great customer service. Too bad they dont serve beer here, it would go well with the bbq. Yummy bbq skewers chinese-style spice. Definitely in my rotation of options in the area.
Overall 3.5. Service: 5/5. They are nice, friendly and patient. Food: 3/5. Honestly I think it's just okay.. the bbq taste mostly the same. Some more flavorful some less. But kinda same seasoning. Potato chips is a bummer.. tastes kinda powdery. Environment: the table is too small that we had problems having all dishes on the table. But it's pretty clean and bright in there
It's been over 6 months since I last came here but I decided to come since they were celebrating their 5 year anniversary and was offering BOGO for their noodle dishes. The inside is still very modern and sleek. However, the seating is still really uncomfortable since they are still using those hard wooden seats with no back support. The restaurant is also really cramped and tight. Unfortunately, we had to wait over 30 minutes for seating because most of their tables are two-top tables. And we came with 4 people. We ordered their Beef Tendon Noodle, traditional hand pulled beef noodle, stir fried tomato beef noodle, and their Chicken Chow Mein. As for appetizers, we got their bbq traditional chicken wings, BBQ pork belly, and their teppan squid. This time, I thought everything tasted really good. Last time, my complaint was that the hand pulled noodles were way too soft and overcooked. But this time, I asked for a thicker noodle and it came out perfect. It had a nice chew to it and wasn't overcooked. But the stand out for me was actually their stir fried tomato beef noodle and their chicken chow mein. I vastly prefer these two compared to their beef soup noodles. It just has a stronger flavor profile that suits my taste buds more. As for the appetizers, skip the chicken wings. It was $8 for 4 tiny pieces and It's just not worth it. The Teppan Squid and their BBQ pork belly were both AMAZING. It is really strong and flavorful so I would only recommend them if you like strong bold flavors with a bit of spicy kick. Overall, this time I really enjoyed my meal and we got 2 free noodle dishes! I do think the prices are reasonable for the location they are in. They also still charge 2.4% for using your credit card which is quite disappointing. read more
I have gone to the Markham location a few times before and really liked it! Unfortunately this location was disappointing. The noodles were overcooked (I usually like soft noodles) but this was like mush together kind of soft. I brought it up to the waitress when she asked how everything is... told her the noodles were made a tad too soft and she said it's because I ordered the thin noodles. I order the exact same thing at their location and never once has a problem. read more

I think I found my favourite noodle spot! This bowl was HUGE for $15. So flavourful and easy to share with some friends (which we did). We asked for individual bowls and scissors to help share this big bowl of noods! The service was also great and quick to get your cravings satisfied quickly. The only hard part was the location and parking, there are some spots in the back but get filled up fairly quickly and tight. Can't imagine how great this spot would be in the fall or when it gets chilly out. Will be back to find out! read more

Jajang-mien (jajang-myeon) - EXCELLENT noodles, perfect QQ, good resistance when chewing and the flavours off the charts. Next time we'll order "ma lah" (spicy) instead of medium. Stir fried beef and tomatoes with #5 noodles. Again, perfect QQ, this dish reminded me of the food we had in Northern China. A MUST ORDER. Enough for two good appetites. Packed full of flavour. Found another gem to add to my list of favorite Chinese noodle spots in the GTA, and it's conveniently close to home. I was genuinely surprised by the texture of the noodles, perfectly chewy yet soft, a delightful characteristic that melded seamlessly with the high-quality soup base and toppings. The broth and use of spices are so well executed that I'd recommend it even to those new to Chinese noodles. I particularly enjoyed the beef tendon noodle, which I ended up trying after a suggestion to switch from my original chow mein order due to a super lengthy delay. The recommendation was spot on, and while I loved the soup noodles, the texture of the stir-fried noodles seemed even more appealing. Next time, I definitely plan to dive into their chow mein selections to experience more of their notably superior noodle texture. read more
Place is very clean and casual. The server reacted quickly to take me to the table. There are only few dishes in the menu and it's easy to choose. Water is served. Since the server knew I am sharing with my dad, he provided a scissor for cutting the noodle. I looks like hand made noodle. Been a big fan of Gol's since they opened in Waterloo a while back so it was my first time in a while and it still held up! Depending on how hungry you are splitting a large bowl with a side has always been perfect for us. You can choose the type of noodle you like and get toppings on the side - I don't like coriander and I prefer it less spicy so we got those on the side. Other than that especially when it's cold out the soup really hits home! Lamb skewers were alright, they put a bit of chili oil which I'm not used to but you can probably ask to skip that. What can I say, the broth is fresh and not greasy, flavour is aromatic. Noodles are top notch hand pulled fresh on the spot. You can choose different width and length, in my opinion, classic is the best ! It's hard for noodles to absorb the flavour if it's too thick. Always get extra noodles. read more
Awesome Lanzhou noodle spot! Lanzhou style noodles are one of my favs, so I'm very bias here. I've tried a variety of their menu items throughout the winter seasons and I would say their prices and portions are both amazing! I know most folks go for the hand pulled beef noodles (alway order the larger size and take home leftovers if you can't finish, way better value) but I would highly recommend the stir fry noodles! The sauce they use is delicious and I'm always a fan of lamb stir fries because of the unique flavour and cumin! Their lamb is fantastic here, in case you're worried about a strong gamey taste from lamb. Their BBQ items are also great! I'm always a fan of their BBQ cabbage (I know, seems sort of random, but it's awesome!) Their service is pretty good all the times I've been there, the staff would come by every now and then to see how you're doing and if you are liking the food. However, when they're busier, you may see the staff a whole lot less. The Lanzhou style tea may also take some time to prepare if they need to brew a new batch, so please be patient! Payment for your food is also at the front of the store when you're on your way out. Special shout out to their Lanzhou style tea! It's like a paired down version of 8 Treasure Tea (sometimes just known as chrysanthemum tea) if you've tried that, it's got a lovely sweetness with the longan really coming through. It will largely depend on when you ask for it, sometimes it's freshly brewed so it may take some time and will be hot, but not as strong in flavour. Other times it may have been the last pour, so the tea would be cooled down but strongly flavoured. Just ask if you have a preference! Note that this says it's only available for the winter season, but I was able to get it up to April so far. It's free! read more

Opens late and decent prices. Forgot the name but their menu is all images and it looks the same, $16. Tastes good, maybe a bit too salty. Would have appreciated more acidity to cut it out like a vingery condiment or sauce but overall excellent noodle quality. read more
FOOD: the traditional Lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodle soup ($18.49) was good. It was tasty and filling. I would have preferred duck instead of beef shank but that's a matter of preference. I was not impressed at all with their 50-cent fee for a take-out container. I've never seen a restaurant charge a fee for a take-out container. That, right there, is a reason for losing one star. SERVICE: 5/5. No complaints. ATMOSPHERE: To be honest, their tables inside are tiny and the chairs are uncomfortable. There's barely space inside for comfortable seating. Outside, they have a nice patio with proper patio chairs that are comfortable, unlike those wooden weird-looking chairs they have inside. Bottom line: While the soup is good, I would not bring a date here. Max, I'll do is take-out next time. Whoever designed this space did not think about the comfort of patrons, instead opting for uncomfortable chairs and utilitarian tables. read more
I've been walking by and waiting for this restaurant to open. I thought the decor was neat with the statues on the side windows. There are two menus, one the "main menu"and the other "bbq menu". The main menu is composed of hand pull noodles. Just the noodle itself, there are 9 different types to choose, it varies in terms thickness and width. When we reach to #8 and 9, it's almost like the Lanzhou Pappardelle. I've tried the N1, Traditional Lanzhou Hand pull Beef noodle, and I ask the staff which noodles goes well with it. He suggested #3 SanXi. It's nice and chewy, I love the chewiness as it was hand pulled, not exact size, length and width. The broth was not spicy so I added extra chili oil. I don't mind that as it's not super spicy and end up you can't taste the flavour. The W1 Zha Jiang Noodle, I thought it was a little bland in terms of flavour. So I had to add some chili oil. I really enjoyed the blinds tofu, good thickness and spice level. Definitely one of the best I've had. The bbq sausage were good. Scallops, I wasn't a huge fan of as it is too small. Overall, definitely a good addition in the neighbourhood! read more
Gol's Lanzhou Noodle Ratings: 4.6/5 Food: 5/5 - WOW, what an awesome spot. Hand-pulled noodles are my favorite type of noodles of all times, beating the Italian pasta! Gol's was phenomenal, beautifully executed, and surprisingly delicious. The noodles are hand-pulled fresh on the spot, top-notch quality, and fun thing is you can choose your own width of the noodles. You need to see the descriptions of the noodles below, and why I'm obsessed. - Zha Jiang Mian [GET]: Yummy! I got sized 5 noodles (ErZhuZi), because I like it thick and al dente. The noodles are so chewy, like whoa kind of chewy. It's so hearty and comforting, and I can eat this all day. The meat sauce was packed with so many flavors and decently sized meats chunks, but not too salty at all. I purposely asked for the chili oil to be on the side, so I can adjust it myself at the table. The verdict is to add some chili oil, and you will like it. It comes with a variety of vegetables and toppings, and my favorite was the pickled cabbage with beans. There's lots of textures and flavors going on, but all in harmony. I wished there was more scallions though, even though I requested it too. - Dan Dan Noodle [GET]: Yummy again! My boyfriend got size 8 noodles (ErKuan), which the usual size for dry based noodles, so if you ever been to Xi'an Famous Food in NYC, then you'll understand. The noodles are so al dente and chewy. It had the perfect texture and bounciness, literally perfection. It is simple, comes with bok choy, scallions and a generous layer of crushed peanuts. It is the same meat sauce as the Zha Jiang Mian, and when you pair it with the peanuts, it's wonderful. The umami and flavors of them just works so well together. Low key, I think this is better than my dish. Ambiance: 4.5/5 - The decor is nice and cozy. As soon as you walk in, there's a glass window showcasing the staff hand pulling the noodles in action in the kitchen. The dining room is in another section of the restaurant. I love the simple decor with bamboo and wood furniture, and the relaxing and calming vibes. It was brightly lit, clean, and simple. There's also a light up patio outside for more seating but would recommend sitting inside. There's usually a wait for Gol's, but we came during the weekday, so there was no wait at all. Price: 4.75/5 - The zha jiang mian and the dan dan noodles were both around $13 before tax, and honestly most of their noodles and menu items are in this range, without exceeding $15. This is a great steal, definitely worth it for the taste and authenticity. The portions are huge and generous, and I couldn't even finish my entire bowl. Service: 4.25/5 - The service is pretty good. Our server seated us as soon as we arrived and asked us if we want hot tea or water. When he took our orders, he was explaining the toppings and differences of the dry noodle dishes. I was able to request for subtraction such as chili oil. During our meal, he would stop by to check-in and see if we were doing okay and if we like the food. He was friendly and definitely doing his job well, so shoutout to him. BLUF: I am not being biased here! This is the SPOT if you want some authentic Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles. I loved that we could choose the thickness and shapes of the noodles and pair it with either a soup or dry sauces. Pro tip is to get the flat wide noodles for dry dishes, because there's a bigger surface area to pick up the sauces, and the skinnier ones for soup. Please get the dan dan noodles if you like peanuts, and the zha jiang noodles if you are craving something more subtle and sweeter side. If you can't decide, dan dan noodles is the way to go! Another sign the Y/F stretch is transitioning, yet another Northern Chinese noodle spot opened up! Nothing much to do here but take in the transition and order some noodle soups. I tried the Lanzhou noodle with a side order of BBQ wings. Both were delicious! The noodle portion is definitely good for two meals especially if you go for the large. There were plenty of beef and a great amount of broth. The Chilli spice meant for the broth is actually not spicy at all (at least to me), and I would highly recommend adding that in the broth as it is very flavourful. These fresh, authentic Lanzhou (China) hand-pulled noodles are the perfect comfort foods on cold days. The resto is small and cozy, the tables are close together (not good for groups more than 6, otherwise they'll split you up into separate tables). The noodle station is right up at the front of the restaurant where the workers turn fresh dough into perfect chewy noodles. There are 9 different noodle sizes ranging from super thin to extremely thick. While there are a few small apps (cucumber mix, sweet and sour mini fries, edamame), the star of this restaurant is definitely the noodles - prepared in either a soup base or fried. I went with my 2 young kids and ordered one bowl of noodle in soup and the fried beef noodle. The broth was very nice, not oily, and very fragrant and flavourful. The thin beef slices and fresh green onion and coriander complemented the noodles very well. The beef chow mein wasn't too oily and have a nice mix of colourful greens. If you haven't tried fresh hand-pulled noodles, I highly recommend that your give Lanzhou a try! They have locations at Square One (Mississauga), Waterloo and North York. read more
The decor is nice and cozy. I like how the waiting/entrance area is separated from the dining area where the cold wind from opening/closing of door wouldn't bother customers. Noodles here are hand pulled in the kitchen by the front door where customers can view behind glass barrier as they wait to be seated. [ Traditional LanZhou Hand-pull Beef Noodle (no.4 style noodle)] - The noodles can be ordered in various thickness and size. I chose number 4 (ErXi) but any size would be good because the noodles are cooked to "Al Dante". Portions are relatively generous here and the soup gets the job done. [ Lamb skewers ] - Skewers were decent and cooked well for a place that doesn't specialize in skewers. To pay, you can go up to the front counter instead of waiting for staff as they can get pretty busy. read more

Great place for fresh hand pulled noodles. Place gives you a good variety of noodle choices and the soup broth is great! Will recommend for anyone in the area craving something warm on a chilly fall/winter day. read more

Gol's Lanzhou Noodle North York Do I Recommend? I think it is good to try once to solve your curiosity, the food is not bad, but not good enough for me to come back again. How is the service? The service was pretty bad when I was there... the server couldn't even bring water for us and we had to keep on getting off our table to walk to the front to ask for simple things like water, napkin, bills. Maybe it was bad luck but it was very bad service. This definitely made me feel like I don't want to come back again. How is the food? The food was not bad, but not very good either. Interesting at first few bites, but got a bit boring pretty quickly. Food is primarily the reason I think people can at least give this restaurant one try to solve their curiosity, but other than that I'd say you can probably skip this restaurant. Again, the service was horrible when I was there. read more
The food was decent. The bowls for the noodles (large size) was huge! We also tried the frog legs which were tasty and the hot was manageable. They were quite busy but things moved quickly. However, they did seat at full capacity instead of the required 50%-let them have a "gimmie" since the policy just came into play yesterday and this is a new restaurant and the servers were polite/good! So happy to find out that they opened up in North York! Would always order from here whenever I was near their Square One location but since they closed that location during the pandemic, we haven't had hand pulled noodles in so long. I'm glad this new location did not disappoint! They even included such a cute note in our order. Can't wait to be able to actually dine here one day! read more
