The toppings were even more than the noodles (make sure you mix it well since there might be a lot of stuff under the noodles). The only thing was that it was a bit too salty. I was feeling adventurous so i tried this place for the first time. Im a fan of dry noodle dishes so i got their classic dry noodles with pork and peanuts and added boiled egg. Hey Noodle is our favourite Chongqing noodle. The noodle is very chewy and the topping has peanut and peas. Although the noodle cannot choose the thickness, it is the right thickness we want. You can choose the level of spiciness. We always choose mild, but this time the mild spice became unbearable. Not sure if it is a mistake. The store is small but comfortable. Hey Noodles, welcome to the neighborhood! We were pleasantly surprised to find their signage pop up near Vaughan Mills a few months back. We even dropped by only to find out they weren't quite open yet. It's unfortunate that shortly after grand opening, dine-in was shuttered by COVID-19 safety measures and business hasn't picked up yet. Good thing is they do make takeout quite accessible. The specialty here is the Chongqing street noodles. Rich hot chili broth is filled with numbing peppercorns and garnishes for extra flavor. It supposedly took over 80 recipe variations to arrive at what they felt was "the one." Each bowl has multiple noodle options including sweet potato vermicelli which is becoming popular these days. The Szechuan-style noodle soup goes well on its own, or with protein options such as pork bellies, ribs, minced meat or marinate egg. For dine-in, there's unlimited noodle refills. In the meantime, they offer takeout specials and even donated food to a local hospital so kudos to them! The spicy wontons are also a hit while rice dishes are less popular offerings. After all, it is a noodle shop. And brown sugar rice jelly or Yakult milk drinks are refreshing if you don't mind overly sweet dessert / drink options. The food quality was terrible (2 stars for the food). Noodles were very soggy and flavourless. It just expanded in my stomach and made it uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Soup was oily and not drinkable. The noodle came with big portion of pork rib, but not much veggie. The pork rib was super dry and had no flavour. The noodle soup had an unpleasantly old smell. What made me give them three stars despite the bad food quality was the owner's attitude in preparing the takeout. They put a note indicating the chef on duty was healthy and this can greatly release customers' worry. They also drawed a smiley face to cheer people up. A few stores beside Cha time, Hey Noodles is a franchise noodle shop that specializes in spicy noodles. For Covid procedures, they have the sneeze guards on each table and have moved to an app based ordering system. You sit down and scan the QR code on the corner of the table. I recommend you doing it on one person's device, because it all gets sent to the kitchen at one time and is connected to your table number. They have chinese and english, so if you don't understand, look for the language converter. I ordered the beef noodles, egg noodles and a spicy broth. The meat was very very tender. The broth had good flavour and the noodles had the right consistency you would hope for in any noodle shop. The problem? For me, I eat lots of spice, but their spice level was a little too much for me. And when I say I eat spice, think korean spicy level. I may order a lower spice level the next time. I also ordered the fried chicken bites. This were not good. Yes they were crispy and you get a cup of chicken for like... $8 or so? But there was no flavour. These noodle bowls really do hit the spot for late night, street-style Chinese comfort food! With adjustable spice levels and a good variety of flavours and customizations, everyone is sure to find something to their liking. The price seems steep at first for "just a bowl of noodles" but the portion is really comparable to popular ramen chains so I think it's fair! I've only been able to get takeout so far, so the experience has been detracted a bit. They're takeout packaging is recyclable and reusable where possible, and utensils and napkins are packed in a paper envelope which has reheat instructions - a two-in-one solution that tries its best to be environmental and convenient. Back to the food. So far I've had no complaints - you're getting what's advertised! Even the mildest spice level (above no spice) was on the heated side for me, so be warned. It is definitely a big sell point and part of the experience, so if you can handle it I think this is a great option! I've also tried their yam noodles which look like clear udon - they do soften quicker so I was not as much a fan. By default, egg noodles make the most sense to me! Do note that their noodles will come chilled if you're getting takeout - I think this is part of their process to chill their cooked noodles to stop the cooking process at the right time, accounting for reheating and to maximize chewiness. I've also gotten their deep fried buns as a dessert item and that has been more hit or miss - a huge score discount in my opinion. The first time they seemed to have been left in the deep fryer for too long, or refried - because they were golden brown almost all the way through and were more like stale croutons. The next time was slightly better, but still had an "over fried" sensation about them. Has potential to become an addiction. Stopping at Chatime, I noticed this new restaurant a couple doors down and had to try it. I ordered a "make your own" noodle dish with Beef Brisket and egg noodles. The serving was a decent size, although a bit on the spendy side of the budget. The brisket was fairly tough, and the broth was missing something to balance out the flavour. I also ordered it "not spicy" and found it to be unusually hot. Comparing to Ramen, a similar style of meal, I found ramen to be much more flavourful. I am definitely going to try Hey Noodles again after they have been open a while to let them get settled in, and we'll see if it gets added to my "worth exiting the 400" list. read more

Peruse this review with caution as it can be heavily biased. I went to grab a quick meal at Hey Noodles as their regular patron. My partner wasn't feeling hungry but I wasn't going to make her sit in the car or watch me dive into some food. So I ordered one bowl of noodles and did a refill (which is unlimited). I wanted to give my partner some of my food as that's just the humane thing to do but then the owner told me an unprecedented rule saying that unlimited refills were only if my partner also made a purchase. Keep in mind that I've been going to Hey Noodles locations at Scarborough and Richmond Hill for a long time and they never gave me trouble about this rule. One time, when my friends and I went to the Scarb location they were fine with giving us noodle refills despite not everyone ordering a full meal. The Vaughan location also serves tasty food for sure, but the owner seems to be fixated on profiteering off the customers rather than having empathy or situational awareness. read more
