Lovely cafe, lots of windows to let the sunshine in, perfect for people-watching. The ladies here were very friendly and offer a variety of goods (coffee, pastries, chocolates, ice cream- amongst other things). I got a cafe au lait, and added some cocoa and cinnamon on top. The cherry danish matches my shoddily painted nails and looks very tasty. Stop here on your road trip

Coffee is freaking good!!!! The lady that waited on Us was so nice. Had some pages to sit if you wanted to enjoy your coffee in there and relax.

Amazing place, great culture, awesome vibe, and food and of course the coffee. Came here on a drive to Rogue River vacation.... And bam we stumbled upon this gem.

I agree with a previous reviewer, the clam chowder (New England style) in a bread bowl is excellent. The bread had a flaky crust and was better than most loafs used for bread bowls. The top of the loaf was toasted and buttered--so good. The plastic knifes they have will even cut the bread. My drip style coffee was very good too. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The setting is plain with art works (for sale) on the wall and windows on the highway.

Plus, they won't scramble the omelettes, but you can get scrambled eggs, which makes no sense. Ridiculous! I mean, come on! It was ok. Server was OK.

For context, I've been a waitress on the coast for nearly 10 years, so I'm usually very mindful of not making a server's job harder, but this felt different. When we ordered, she came across as genuinely annoyed. Did she check on things like coffee? Yes, but with a look of annoyance that made the whole interaction uncomfortable. The food itself was mediocre at best. The gravy was meh, though the chicken fried steak was decent. The "hash browns," however, were not traditional hash browns, they were more like oven roasted potatoes smashed on the grill, which was disappointing if you're expecting the classic version. The pricing was another surprise. I work at a higher end restaurant, and their brunch prices are comparable to what we paid here, which says a lot, considering this is supposed to be a basic diner experience. When our food was dropped off, we were told the toast would be "just a minute." No problem, but when it finally arrived, it was completely cold, with unmelted "butter" that had little to no flavor. And as someone who grew up eating margarine and then transitioning to butter, I knew that this was margarine. My boyfriend who has never had margarine didn't understand why his butter didn't "taste like anything". Also worth noting, my partner ordered a side of sausage links, four small links for $9, yup your read that right, $9 dollars for a side of sausage. Overall, the service felt hostile with a fake mask, the food was mediocre, and the pricing didn't match the experience. As a person who was raised here on the coast and thought to "experience double d's diner again" since it has been a few years, I won't be returning.

Vegetables were tender crisp and eggs were scrambled in as they should be. Chicken was mostly tender. Chef cashier did not ask me what spice level I desired, so it was unspiced. I would preferred a mild to medium, but they were closed by then so I couldn't ask for more seasonings. I ate some on the picnic tables outside and then took the rest back to my husband at the hotel. Turns out the mild was just the ticket for a queasy tummy, so win win.
