I've revised my review for a couple of reasons. First off, it was never in doubt that Deb can cook. The food she and Trista serve has always been 'five star' quality, from the burgers and sandwiches to the fresh fish dishes. Big portions and great taste But after a candid discussion about my review they've also taken more care to keep people updated on their schedule and hours and are regularly serving even in poor weather and slow times If you're coming a great distance it's worth calling ahead to make sure they're open (or check Facebook). Went to Hunger Paynes for lunch today. The people inside seemed nice and cordial, and I ordered a grilled sandwich from the menu. It was ready without much of a wait at all! The sandwich was pretty good, a little greasy but tasty anyway. I didn't notice until I was almost through with the sandwich that the sandwich had melted the styrofoam box it was served in....to late to take it back, and I figured they must have already known about the styrofoam box problem; I'm sure I wasn't the first person to have a grilled sandwich delivered in a styrofoam box there. What a shame. I attached a picture of the inside of the styrofoam box with an arrow showing where the sandwich had actually melted through and left a hole. Several vehicles were pulled in front waiting for their lunch. Two women inside were super busy making orders and seemed to know many of their customers by first name. YUM! My husband and I took a road trip from Southern California up to Southern Oregon, stopping in Gold Beach for a few nights. After a morning spent exploring the local woods, we made our way into town and thankfully stumbled upon this gem. I am obsessed with fish and chips, and ordered them at every stop along our trip. I was staying in Gold Beach for several days and needed to sample the local fare. Here's a little rundown: One morning I stopped for a quick bite and had the sausage breakfast burrito...very tasty! Eggs were cooked perfectly and it was just enough food to get my day started. Another morning, I needed to grab something before my jet boat trip up the Rogue. For this, I went with a blueberry scone and biscuits with bacon. Scone was delicious! Not dry like you find in those chain coffee houses and the plump blueberries were a balance of tart/sweet. Biscuits were some of the best scratch made biscuits I've had this side of the Mississippi! On my way out of town, I had a chance to grab lunch here. The ooey gooey crab sandwich was TO DIE FOR! The sweetness of the fresh crab, crunch of celery, and buttery grilled toast was excellent! The next time you're in Gold Beach, head over here! read more

We've driven by this food truck for several trips to our favorite beach in Oregon. Today we decided to stop & try them out. We ordered the first fish & chips meal out of the truck, they just got the fryer hooked up on Friday. It was one of the best fish & chips meals I've ever had. We also had the grinder...yum. This place popped up first when I searched for a place to grab a quick bite for lunch in Gold Beach. OMG!! So glad we stopped here!! I've been craving crab and lucky for me, they had an oooeeyyy, goooeeyyy crab melt that was to die for! My hubby had a hot pastrami sandwich that was every bit as scrumptious as mine and the homemade potato salad was excellent. Our only regret is that we didn't arrive before 11am to try out their breakfast. If we lived here, we'd be adding pounds by eating here every day! We moved to Gold Beach from Pennsylvania in November. We have been looking for fish & chips ever since we got here, but lots of restaurants are closed right now. Hunger Paynes looked promising, so today we got the fish & chips we have been craving, and every bite was delightful! It is the best fish & chips I've ever had. The fish is wonderfully fresh and covered with a delicious batter that melts in your mouth. French fries are PERFECT. We loved the cole slaw! I want to try everything on their menu. This is a food truck on the west side of the street, it's red, DO NOT MISS IT. First, the food is gourmet class....best shrimp tacos ever.....EVER! sauce and condiments are out of the ordinary.
