First off, our waitress was really nice. The sweetest woman we've ever had the pleasure of serving us. She was really kind and definitely understood what we wanted better than we did. The food was really good too. I had their biscuits plus more, which had biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. Best plate of food I've had in a while. When we ordered one plate for the kids to share, they read us really well and actually split the portions between the two plates. That was top level customer service. I was hoping this place would be better than it was. They won't let you get tater tots with breakfast only lunch items but you can order lunch at anytime, so I had to switch and order lunch. Immediately after sitting down, I felt like we had done something wrong. Our waitress seemed irritated with us from the start, and mind you all we had done was sit at the table she instructed us to sit at. For context, I've been a waitress on the coast for nearly 10 years, so I'm usually very mindful of not making a server's job harder, but this felt different. When we ordered, she came across as genuinely annoyed. Did she check on things like coffee? Yes, but with a look of annoyance that made the whole interaction uncomfortable. The food itself was mediocre at best. The gravy was meh, though the chicken fried steak was decent. The "hash browns," however, were not traditional hash browns, they were more like oven roasted potatoes smashed on the grill, which was disappointing if you're expecting the classic version. The pricing was another surprise. I work at a higher end restaurant, and their brunch prices are comparable to what we paid here, which says a lot, considering this is supposed to be a basic diner experience. When our food was dropped off, we were told the toast would be "just a minute." No problem, but when it finally arrived, it was completely cold, with unmelted "butter" that had little to no flavor. And as someone who grew up eating margarine and then transitioning to butter, I knew that this was margarine. My boyfriend who has never had margarine didn't understand why his butter didn't "taste like anything". Also worth noting, my partner ordered a side of sausage links, four small links for $9, yup your read that right, $9 dollars for a side of sausage. Overall, the service felt hostile with a fake mask, the food was mediocre, and the pricing didn't match the experience. We weren't sure what we would face when entering. It was crowded but there was a table for 2. We were very happy and surprised. Owner, Dee Dee gave us a good time and great food. Breakfast of veggie omelet and French toast was very satisfying. Ingredients were fresh and meals made with care. Loved the home made hash browns. This was the perfect place for us to celebrate a breakfast over Memorial Day weekend. Patriotism abounds with red, white and blue decor. We enjoyed our conversation with Dee Dee and learned a bit about the business and the wealth of tourists who pass thru town. Last weekend she had visitors from Siberia and France. The map with pins on the wall is a testament to those who pass thru. Hard working and friendly people make this a well run business. This is our breakfast spot anytime we are in Gold Beach. I love the breakfast sandwich. I don't know what they do with that sausage Patty but it is juicy and amazing. Service is good, but some of the servers can be a little salty. Maybe the proximity to the ocean. read more

A friend who is a local fishing guide recommended it. It just wasn't for me. It is the epitome of greasy spoon; with the emphasis on the grease. My sandwich was dripping in mayo. It was dirty, cramped, and right by the front door, they have a sign that say guns are welcome. Yikes! I looked for a single healthy option on the menu and was unsuccessful. Even the eggs they sell there by the carton were filthy. At least they could have wiped them off without destroying the bloom if they are selling to the public. And yes, I have raised hens myself as well as having previous employment in the poultry industry. But here's the thing. The place was pretty full. So lots of people must like their food. We had breakfast here one morning on our road trip. There was a bit of a wait for a table and they asked us to sit outside and they'd come get us. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and down home decor. It was a true slice of Americana. I loved hearing customers talking about yesteryear with the hostess. They clearly had known each other a long time. The eggs Benedict was unfortunately below par. The Canadian bacon was super thin, over processed and the hollandaise a bit bland. My friend had the same and remarked that the hash browns needed some love. I would still go back but order something you just can't usually go wrong with like bacon and eggs. read more

What can I say besides the food was not even edible. What a waste of hard earned money. A bowl of supposed home made chili which was a can of beans and some stringy hamburger meat thrown in . No spices no flavor whatsoever. At least a can of chili would have been better. It was awful. Second was the biscuit gravy with hash browns and an egg. Hash browns were inedible. It was interesting. The omelet of the day was shrimp, but even though they had just opened, they had no shrimp, so I ordered the ham and cheese omelet which was okay. This is a classic small town cafe. The atmosphere is casual but clean and the decor is simple but fun. The waitress was friendly and asked if we wanted coffee refills. The food was served quickly. We went here for breakfast. I had coffee and the Waffle Sandwich, which is a waffle with 2 eggs, and 2 bacon or sausage. My wife had a pancake. Everything was okay. The coffee was just okay, and they only have Cremora, no actual cream for the coffee. The waffle was just okay too. Tasted like it was from a package mix. Even the sausage links were just okay. My wife's pancakes were in the same "okay" category. Nothing was bad, nothing was exceptional. I guess I'm always hoping this kind of restaurant is going to have really good classic coffee, a great pancake recipe, and really take me back to my Mom's homemade breakfasts. In this case, I left full, but missing that something special. In reality, it's hard to screw up pancakes and waffles too bad, so if you're hungry for a basic "okay" breakfast, give it a try. read more
