Beautiful location with great view. Super friendly staff great atmosphere. Food was excellent. Must try if you are in the area.

    Breakfast menu

Breakfast menu. A bit limited. Some of the items seems overpriced, but the dining room is beautiful and the Sylvan Lake setting is spectacular,

Read below for details, but I would only go back for a drink. Service: - We were seated outside right away, however no one approached our table for 10+ minutes. Even then it wasn't our waiter, just waters. - When our food was delivered, two dishes had the wrong sides and they said they would be right back with the correct sides. Everyone finished the rest of their meals before the correct sides were brought, and we had to ask a second time. - I ordered the Elk chop, but only had a butter knife. I asked for a steak knife, by the time it got brought out my food was cold. - They claimed they were very busy inside, we went inside to the bathroom and the restaurant was not busy at all. Food - everyone else at my table got burgers and they said they were ok. I got the $36 Elk chop and I asked them to have the chef prepare it however they thought was best. It was awful! Burnt on the outside and so well done on the inside it was difficult to cut and chew. View - We sat outside because I thought that would provide the best view. It was nice to be in nature, but there was a wall of trees blocking the amazing views advertised for being so high up. After dinner we were able to explore past the trees and got the attached picture. It was beautiful, but again I'd probably come back for drinks, but nothing more.

Disappointing and overrated. People are untrained and rude. Food is very bad and often served cold. Front desk is unmanned at times

Buffalo short ribs and elk chop very good. Service reasonable. The bar is limited but tries hard to deliver. Atmosphere is wonderful.

They even were really accommodating for my son who just wanted a plain ol' meat and cheese sandwich (and they'll conveniently wrap up what you don't eat to take home!). I was so happy they had gluten-free bread available. Then the question was if I could have some of the meats so they were happy to look at the ingredient lists for me, which I really appreciated. I got the Italian and it was loaded with meat, mostly pepperoni, which quite honestly I would have done differently. I would have placed more emphasis on the other meats, but still, it was very good. Now were I dock a star is the sad gluten-free bread they gave me. It was clearly the last two slices of the loaf (yes, I got the butt) and if you know gluten-free bread, you know those slices at the ends are VERY SMALL. They don't like quite so small in my photo, but they were. I would personally not have served a sandwich using those. It made it hard to eat because the meat was so much larger and really, I kinda just felt like I was gypped a little. The interior itself isn't anything special...at all, lol. But I can get over that when they at least had a few tables to sit at and the employees were helpful and kind. I would make your way here if you're passing through!

I don't know what it's like when it's busy because on the day we arrived, the entire area was a ghost town. Not even sleepy - no cars on the road and this cafe was even still opening. Walk in, order and find a seat. Not a lot of seating but there's both indoors and out. We chose to sit indoors as it was a little warm and I didn't want to be out under the sun. See pics of the food. Wanted salad. I tend to always want salad. Went with the Springfield. Crisp and fresh - really enjoyed the toppings and dressing. Harmony. That's how I'd describe this salad. I'd definitely have it again. Grabbed the Hot Springs. Wanted a cold sandwich. Wanted an Italian. Closest I could find and the vinaigrette was even on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. I remember enjoying this sandwich so much I considered grabbing a second for the road. However, we're traveling and gotta try other foods and places. This would be one place I'd go back to if or when I find myself back in Rapid City. This cafe is connected to the brewery (Hay Camp Brewing). In fact, that's where the restrooms are if you need it.

I really wanted to like this place more, I really, really did. Came here on the last day of our…read moretrip exploring the trifecta of National Parks. After being inundated with burgers, I felt like something a little lighter/healthier was in order. AMBIANCE - just off the main strip of downtown Rapid City you'll find this cafe. Cafe is spacious and clean, and is connected to a brewery where, if you're inclined to do so, they will bring your food over to you while you sit there. The Brewery has board games you can play at your table and a variety of pinball machines. SERVICE - service was....ok. I was asking the guy about one of the toppings on the sandwich and he looked at me like I was an alien. Maybe it was his first day? Not sure. He was nice, but not as knowledgeable as you might like for someone working the register. MENU - they had a pretty good mix of sandwiches (hot and cold), and also had a few sides. I also saw they had some homemade lemonades and such, which I was tempted to try, but did not end up trying instead. FOOD - my wife and mother got the badlands sandwich which had roasted sirloin mushrooms, swiss and and side of horeradish mayo. My mom and I both did the rapid city which kind of seemed like a philly cheesesteak sandwich (grilled beef, onions, peppers, jalapenos, smoked gouda with a lime cilantro), while my kids rocked the pastrami. The sandwiches were a pretty good size (at almost $20 a piece, they better be). My kids thought the pastrami was good and after days of burgers, it was a nice change up. My wife liked her sandwich, which was mostly carried by the horseradish mayo. My mom and I thought our sandwiches were just...ok. The meat needed salt, and the lime cilantro was not very flavorful. I ended up stealing some of my wife's horseradish mayo which helped, but just a bit. OVERALL - good not great. Wish the meat was a little more flavorful and the food came out a bit quicker (there was only one order ahead of us and it took a good 20-30 minutes to get our food). Not sure I'd come back.
