I just got my car back, and they exceeded all my expectations. My Audi is a shade of green and the paint and repairs look like they are brand new. There was a slight issue, and they jumped all over it and made sure we were 100% happy without arguing or anything. They did excellent work. Their initial estimate was a lot higher than my insurance company, and even though they weren't my insurance companies "preferred" supplier they worked with my adjuster without me getting involved. They went back and forth a few times, and the entire bill was covered without anymore out of pocket from me besides the deductible. Their communication is also top notch from the initial estimate to status updates on the car. I never felt like I didn't know what was going on. When they gave me a date on when they would follow up again they hit that, and they completed the car ahead of schedule. They were very transparent about their pricing as an out-of-network provider for my insurance and gave me frequent updates on ETA and cost over the course of the repair. Hence, there was no surprise. All as expected. BTW, I had an issue a few weeks after the completion and had to bring my car back. It was actually due to the affiliated dealership work (ACC sensor calibration) and Gold Coast took care of the communication with the dealer and let them rework with no additional cost to me. Not usually words I would associate with an auto body shop, but Gold Coast Auto Body has exceeded every single expectation I ever had of working with auto body mechanics & their support staff. First, you should know that the shop works on appointment only. Yet, when a piece of the underbody guard on my Acura became dislodged & was scraping on the ground, they took me with no notice because it was an emergency as I was leaving the country the next day for a month & couldn't drive home due to the noise/fear of causing damage to something mechanical. The entire staff was very polite, plus the facility is clean & comfortable if you have to wait for a repair. Making a repair appointment was also very efficient - Francesca contacted me via text to both set up an appointment & to let me know when the replacement part had arrived. But more importantly, they are HONEST & KNOWLEDGEABLE. Yes, written in all caps because again, this is an auto body shop so I cannot emphasize enough how unusual these qualities are. After the initial look at the damage a month ago, the team had ordered a replacement part. But, when they lifted my car, the mechanic took one look & decided that he could straighten out the bent part & re-secure it vs. replace it. The manager then said he would return the part they had ordered, instead of charging me the $150 cost. He then proceeded *not to charge me for the labor either*. For the second time. WHAT? Unheard of!! I offered to send a tip to at least cover their time but nope! I was taken aback at how honest & nice the entire team was. It gives me me GREAT pleasure to write this review detailing my AMAZING experience, when I went to Gold Coast Auto Body. This establishment was recommended to me by my Mercedes Benz salesman, after I discovered that someone had sideswiped my GLC 300, on the passenger side, front panel and partially on the bumper. I had gone to another auto Body shop where I was given two estimates: one for $1146 and another for $750 (after I questioned the charge). Furthermore, it would take 3 days for my car to dry from the paint job that was needed to cover scars that buffing might not remove. I left and went to Gold Coast, as I was originally advised to do, by my car salesman. I was warmly greeted by Francesca Martino. I explained the incident resulting in my car's damage. Francesca examined the damage and stated that the damage could easily be corrected by buffing the damaged portion of my car and applying a "touch up" to restore the color. She invited me to go into the waiting room, and she'd be back with me. I waited 20 minutes, and Francesca returned with my car FULLY REPAIRED--- no scuffs, no scratches! My car looked like nothing had happened to it. The damage completely vanished. I was so excited, I didn't care what the charge might be. Imagine my shock and surprise, when Francesca told me that there'd be NO CHARGE!! I don't know what she's being paid, but it's not enough. I vowed to tell everyone I knew about this establishment and the incredible Francesca that works there. This place is great. That being said, I had limited work done on my car and wasn't using my insurance (state farm). My dad had a run in with a bunch of stuff in a parking garage in my 3 year old, pristine car. My rear left side had taken a little damage and the left front higher part of the car. I made an appointment for a free evaluation and went in. They got right to my car and checked all areas of concern. They were clear about which parts they thought needed to be addressed (really none as it wasn't a high impact accident), and which parts were cosmetic (most of them). I decided to fix a piece of the trim on the front as it was an eyesore and it's a newer car. They quoted me a price for the part and labor and said they could have it done within the week. They explained that fixing the bumper and a small piece of the panel on the side would be more trouble than it was worth given that the function and structure of the car was fine. When I got home, they called and said the part was already in, scheduled an appointment for the next day and said it would take all of 20 mins to fix while I waited. When I went back the next day, true to their word they got me in and out in approx. 20 mins for $71. They were friendly, quick, and made a stressful thing less stressful. I will definitely be back if needed but let's hope it's not needed! Update: And my father needed a little work done on his older model car. Even though they don't normally handle "elder" cars, they took a look, found a solution to his bumper issue and took care of it while he was there. I called several times for information about status and never talked to the person directly. I left 10-12 voice messages with several people. Still NO return calls over a period of more than a week. My dad backed into my car on Thanksgiving out of state. This Monday morning, I was calling around looking for an auto body. I read rave reviews about the customer service at Gold Coast, so I thought I'd give them a call to see if I could schedule an estimate. At baseline, I greatly dislike car problems. I am that stereotypical woman who knows very little about cars, and I own that. I Google problems. I don't know how to describe things in technical terms. I always bring a member of the male species with me when buying a car because I know I cannot haggle for the best price. I won't pretend I know a lot about cars. I was hoping when I called that I'd have experience that great customer service I read about, but whoever answered was gruff and very dismissive. I was instantly uncomfortable. From our abrasive and short interaction, it wasn't worth giving them a second shot. I decided to have my car looked at elsewhere and have been very happy with how I have been treated so far in that process. I know it can be frustrating talking to someone who does not know the technical details of your job. I know it's draining to be patient with someone who cannot speak your same technical language. I deal with that all the time in my line of work too. I get it. However, I do not think there's a good excuse for being condescending. I know they've lost my business, and I sincerely hope other people in my shoes have a better experience than mine. read more

I had a great experience here! The customer service was amazing! They gave me options for my scratch repair, and made it look significantly better within 30 minutes. I really appreciated that the person who did the consultation for me was transparent about the work that needed to be done but didn't pressure me to make decisions on the spot. He gave me the facts and showed me why he was recommending certain things so it made perfect sense to me (a non car person). He also considered more than just the scratches on our car like our lifestyle, our parking situation, our pickiness when it comes to imperfections, etc. when doing the consultation. I took my car in for an estimate after my rear bumper was sideswiped. There was no damage to the body. It just needed to be painted. Gold Coast dismantled the backend of my car including the trunk, which was completely unnecessary, .and provided an inflated estimate. State Farm rejected the estimate and explained that this is why they no longer work with Gold Coast. When I told Gold Coast that my insurer would not cover the repairs they itemized, they tried to convince me to pay out-of -pocket which made no sense. When I told them I needed to take my car to a shop State Farm recommended, they refused to put my car back together unless I paid them $350. I have been recommending Gold Coast to friends and family for years. I have shared my experience with everyone and told to take their luxury vehicles to other highly reputable and honest providers. read more

I am very impressed by the customer focus of Gold Coast Auto Body. I took my car in for a quote and met with Mitch Doi. My car had small, but deep, scratches that went down to the metal. I was concerned that leaving the scratches untreated properly would result in bigger problems with rusting. It would have been very easy for Mitch to have sold me on the most expensive fix for a small problem. While he walked me through the likely cost and steps for a "perfect" fix, he suggested that the scratches were not that noticeable and that a more practical approach would be to paint them over with a couple of coats of matching paint from the dealer and keep an eye on the area. When I agreed to that strategy, he kindly made the repairs in a couple of minutes and refused to charge me for the work. There is always an anxiety when going into a specialist (whether it is a doctor or an autobody shop) that they could take advantage of a customer's relative ignorance to up-sell them on unnecessary procedures. It is always really refreshing to come across any business that is more focussed on getting to the right result for their customers. read more

Backed into a pole in a very tight parking garage. I tried to correct the damage and only made it worse causing wavy damage to my quarter panel, doors, and some of the wheel well. Upon reaching out to insurance, I was quoted 1 grand - judging the "before" photos you can tell it was very much not a $1000 job. I got quotes from 3 different shops. One agreed with my insurance company, One quoted me 6 grand (middle), and GCAB quoted me 8-10 grand with brand new parts. It took me months to make a decision and I ended up going with GCAB. Let me tell you why that was a good decision, even though I ended up paying a bit out of pocket. Some non-GCAB Issues: 1.) Insurance. They tried to get GCAB to install used quarter panels and used everything. Simple forum searches and a ton of research shows that used quarter panels are extremely hazardous. GCAB COACHED ME on how to contact insurance and how to get them to cover a brand new quarter panel. This saved me over 800$ in the end out of pocket, and I didn't even have to ask GCAB to help me, they did so before I even asked. Highlights: 1.) Communication. I was given deadlines and notifications weekly. I was told each and every step of the process with a scope of work, documents to back it up, and weekly calls. Nothing short of professional. GCAB also did NOT bad-mouth other shops, simply stating that they do great work and are proud of it. They did not sell me on their shop one bit. I'm going to touch on communication a bit more at the end. 2.) Process and expectations. There were no surprises. Deadlines were met. Complete walkthrough of their process with an underlying level of trust. I truly do not think that GCAB takes advantage of its customers. Told me a date of completion and they completed it prior to that date. I've never had this happen with car repairs. 3.) Craftmanship. I've attached photos. Enough said. Fantastic work. Drove 1600 miles after the car was fixed and it's been perfect. They even reglued/reattached weather stripping as mine was coming off some doors for free. GCAB does not use used parts. They have the mantra that when you get your car fixed, it should be like new. Without going on for too long, I would physically travel out of state to take my car here for repairs if I ever moved. It's hard to find a shop that gives a shit, and they do. After all was said and done I paid around 1500$ on a repair with an insurance dispute. money WELL spent. read more

If you have State Farm insurance I don't suggest using Gold Coast. After a little hit and run I took my car to get an estimate which was almost the same as the approved vendor with State Farm. $4200 verses $4100. You sign when you bring the car on you are responsible for any charges not covered by your insurance. After the car was "blue printed" or taken apart what looked to be minimal damage went from $4200 estimate to $7000. if you use preferred vendor you have No out of pocket. Why do an estimated if you are 30% off? I had to agreed to an over $538 difference on top of the $500 deductible only to find out after the car was blueprinted the final supplement was short another $172. I will admit they do good work. I just wish. understood I was caught in the middle of what seems to standard practice when they deal with State Farm clients. I was pinned in between State Farm paying "fair" prices and Gold Coast. Gold Coast should have told me before giving them the car that it is typical to have a big out of pocket. I would have made a different choice if they were transparent. Not to mention, that I would run out of rental time (3 weeks) while trapped between Gold Coast and State Farm. The cost to remove the car once it was dismantled was 3k. So really once car is dropped off, you have no choice but to pay the amount they tell you. I have audited and forwarded State Farm explanation of pricing. I can't get an answer ever after the car was Blueprinted, to use their term, there is an extra $172. read more

I had a really good experience here and would highly, highly recommend them. It's the type of auto shop that you walk into and realize that they have things running well- clean, efficient, high quality work with clear communication. I got a crack in the windshield of my new Honda CRV and brought it here instead of taking it to Safelite, which was where the insurance company recommended that I go. Gold Coast had great reviews and when I got a consultation, they helped me understand that a windshield is more than just glass in most cars- it's a structural element and in most newer cars, it also has sensors in it that have to be calibrated. I knew none of this and they were great at walking me through it. They didn't do a high pressure sale or try to scare me into using them. As someone who is often skeptical of auto repair, I really appreciated the time they took to explain everything clearly and honestly. After doing additional research on my own and confirming what they were telling me was absolutely true, I realized it might be a bit more expensive (maybe 15-20%) to use them than a place like Safelite, but would be higher quality work and a true OEM part. I took the plunge and went with Gold Coast. During the repair process they were amazing and communicated clear pricing and timing- they stuck to both and handled getting the windshield sensors calibrated with the dealership. They were thorough and the work was done to what I believe was a higher quality standard with a higher quality part than if I had gone with Safelite. They even washed my car and it was spotless when I picked it up. Evident that they take pride in their work. I would also note that I drive a Honda CRV, which makes you feel good that they're not just catering to luxury vehicles. read more

I've worked with these guys once before and had a very good experience. Didn't quite get me into "review writing mode." But, I had a pretty great experience with them the other day. You all need to know that these guys are solid people. So, some alleged human backed into my car's front end pretty hard in a parking lot and split. The damage looked pretty cosmetic at first. But, as you know, you start looking at what bracket broke or electronic sensor got damaged... stuff can get expensive fast. In fact, my regular service guys said to take it to the body shop and thought I was going to be looking at $3k easy by the time all was said and done. (Plus, the hassle... What does that cost you?) Since I'd worked with Gold Coast before, I took that of the two options they offered. Got over to Gold Coast and Jose greeted me. Super professional, polite, and helpful guy. He explained that they didn't have any appointment times open that day, but they could take a quick look until the next appointment showed up. While I appreciated that, I just made an appointment for the next day to get a full estimate. When I got there the next day, Mitch came out right away to do the estimate. He inspected everything thoroughly. He then just started gently and expertly putting things back into place. Once he'd done that, it turned out that all we needed was a little glue to fix a small crack in a plastic mounting and a new part that covers some of the electronic sensors. He called the dealership and got them to pull the necessary part for me. They gave me Mitch's price on the part, like as in wholesale. He didn't even try to buy it and mark it up for me. Just sent me 1/2 mile over to get it myself for a big savings. When I returned, Mitch said, "give me about 30-40 minutes." He came back in about 20 and said, "yeah, that glue dries fast. You're all set." I asked, "what do I owe you?" He said, "don't worry about it." This dude could've told me $500 and I'd have felt like I was getting a deal. Instead, I had to talk him into a tip. Mitch is amazing with cars and just good people, folks. Glad I met him. So, if you're looking on your own for auto body work or your dealership tells you that you've got a few options and they mention Gold Coast, that's the one you want. 5 Star Experience! After my beloved BMW i8 suffered from a hit and run in my parking garage while I was away, I was devastated to come home to it damaged without a note. I was highly recommend to Gold Coast Auto Body by a close friend of mine. I looked up the shop's website and right from the start I knew I would be taking my car there. This family-owned business knows exactly how to serve its customers. Being in a customer-focused field, it's clear that the employees are trained to the highest standard of customer service, which I greatly appreciated. I had the best possible experience with this shop. I was able to get ahold of someone immediately when I called. I brought my car in the very same day and was greeted and taken care of right away with no wait time. I was in and out in a matter of a few minutes! They even recommended a rental car company for me and offered to connect me with them as well as other aftermarket shops who can install a dash cam for me. They always have a solution! Francesca Martino was absolutely wonderful with the initial process of bringing my car in, which consisted of being able to accommodate for me to come in right away, taking a look at the car, and giving me a brief estimate, and explained what the shop could do for me. They went above and beyond to go the extra mile for me. Very responsive, communicative, and professional. Dominic Martino, one of the owners, is truly a great person and I can trust that the car will be in good hands at his shop. I do not trust any other shop! Trust all of the glowing reviews, this place is the real deal. An unforunate combination of a bad garage door sensor and two city garbage trucks led to me knocking off the sharkfin antenna on my car. The team at GCAB got me in for an estimate within 48 hours. They were prompt and Mitch walked through all the possible options with me. My 2011 Lexus had some damage on both sides. There was a dent on the driver's side and yellow scratches on the passenger side. I took the car to two places and each repair estimate was about $2000. My son told me to take it to Gold Coast and that they specialize in work on good cars. When I pulled in, Mitch greeted me. He was as nice as can be. He looked over the damage and said that they could buff out the scratches and that there would be no charge for that side. He then said that the other side could be done the expensive way, but he would recommend an easier fix. He said that it should be ok and the cost would be about $300 to $400. I told him that since the car is nine years old, that would be great. I brought the car in a few days later. Mitch said that it could be fixed in one day. They even paid for my Uber to the health club. When I returned, Mitch said that the dent couldn't be fixed as well as he hoped it would be, and that there would be no charge! I told him it looked ok and that I should pay for the work they had done. He touched it up with paint and I told him that it's just fine for a Chicago car. He didn't recommend going through the expensive process, and I agreed. Everyone there is terrific and they are one of the most honest companies with whom I have dealt. Some people just won't let a car go, I'm one of those. I own a 17 year Acura no longer in production with 70K miles. GCAB is the only shop to ever do any work on my car because of their unequaled craftsmanship. About 12 years ago the door got damaged GCAB did the repairs. Just recently noticed something going on with the paint. Brought the care in,Mitch looked at it and said they would take care of it because their work is warrantied for life. I had some small fender damage and chose this company because of their Yelp reviews. I filled out the form online, I was called back within a few hours and made an appointment for this morning for an estimate for the damage. When I got there, Francesca took a look and said she thought she could rub it out. Ten minutes later, it was done, the car looked like new and she refused to charge me anything for the service. Hopefully, I will not need a body shop again, but if I do, my first choice will be Gold Coast Auto Body, I would trust them to be fair for any repair and do a great job. Karen E read more

I've been a customer for over 20 years and have only good things to say. I have always found them honest and trustworthy. I recommend them to all my friends. They may not be the cheapest but so far the work has always been great. I have tried to save a few $$$ by going elsewhere once a few years ago but the quality wasn't nearly as good.
