Please look up the lawsuits against this man before you see him. Dr. Karimi is extremely negligent, abusive and rude. I had a tooth extracted. He ignored the wisdom tooth root that was left from a previous surgery, and extracted the tooth next to it. Everything was healing well but after 3 weeks, I started to have extreme pain and got an infection. I tried to call the office he was moonlighting at when he did the surgery. They took days to respond. By the time I was able to see Dr. Karimi, I had been to the emergency room, an oral surgeon, and a dentist. The oral surgeon I cash paid for pointed out the root that was very visible on a panoramic x-ray. When I saw Dr. Karimi, he wouldn't let me show him the panoramic that was done the day before. He irrigated the extraction site to the point where I was crying in pain. He kept irrigating and asking me questions at the same time. It is very hard to speak as you are getting fluids sprayed into your mouth and the suction thing is in there. He got very upset because I wasn't answering fast enough for his liking. I tried to tell him how I was feeling and where I had gone but he wasn't interested in hearing it. He just kept yelling that it wasn't possible for me to be experiencing the level of pain I was in. After being yelled at and feeling hopeless, my husband spoke up and asked him to give me a chance to answer. Dr. Karimi stepped towards my husband in an extremely aggressive manner and yelled at him to be quiet and mind his own business. I had decided that I wanted to leave at this point. I told Dr. Karimi that I wanted to leave. He had his instrument tray over my lap. I expected for him to move it so I could leave. Instead, he got even more irate yelling at me for not leaving. Between my tears I managed to ask him if he could move the tray so I could go. He screamed at me and hit the tray out of the way. I left in tears walking down a hall full of people who wanted to know what the commotion was. Needless to say, I ended up back in the emergency room the next afternoon. It has been almost 2 months since the tooth extraction and I am still in pain. I felt better before Dr. Karimi ever worked on my mouth. read more

My surgery went smooth and quick. He's attentive, doesn't dally around. I won't go to any one else and I live in Arizona! I've never met another dental professional quite like him and feel confident in his care. I'm giving him 5 stars and that is something I rarely do. He also did a lot of work, x rays, bone grafting and pulling teeth that he did for next to nothing. I'm definitely getting my dental implants from him. I had been told to get my wisdom teeth taken over six years ago. I was told that they were or would cause impacted teeth and possibly some other issues like bleeding gums. Let me say that I am not a big fan of Dentists, let alone having some serious surgery without warrant. I decided since the wisdoms were not hurting and causing any issues to PASS on the recommendation for wisdom teeth extraction. Well, about four months ago I started to have some pressure in my teeth and bleeding of my gums after brushing. The gums started to bleed slightly on their own at times. Yuck-O! I went to see a great general dentist Dr. Murthy, who cleaned my teeth and took a full set of X-Rays. I told her about my issues and she gave me an "open" referral to get a "consult" with an oral surgeon. I called over twenty different offices and was mostly given the run around on scheduling and consult pricing, given that it is not typically covered by most insurance, the "consult" would be 100% out of pocket expense. I finally called Gentle Dental Costa Mesa and was quoted $60 for the consult. (many offices asked for $120+ for the initial consult). I also got a good vibe with my phone conversation with Yvonne and went in for the consultation. I met Dr. Karimi and found he was professional and knowledgeable. He had me take and additional full mouth X-Ray (at no charge) which he used in addition to a physical exam and my physical history forms to give me his prognosis. He told me that I should proceed with the surgery and told me all about the process, which included general anesthesia (we were taking out all 4 of my wisdoms - yikes!!!). He was reassuring, confident and had a polished demeanor that I found comforting. He is only in the Costa Mesa office every other Thursday. I asked for and was given a detailed description and pricing for the surgery. I decided to "wait" (like a big ol chicken) to decide (if) and when I would schedule the operation. I felt good about my experience and I called back the next day to schedule the procedure for the next Thursday two weeks ahead. Admittedly I was effen nervous about this and while making my appointment, was told to bring an adult who could drive me home and watch me for a few hours after the surgery. Gulp! I went in with my wife and was called in to the operating room. I was met with the surgeon assistant whom I had chatted with on my first visit, he asked how I was doing and told me not to worry, that I was in good hands. Dr. Karimi then came in and asked how I was feeling and I told him I was pretty nervous! He told me not to worry and then asked I had had eaten anything for 12 hours (which I had not per procedure) and then gave me some laughing gas via a small nose only mask which I breathed in and breathed out through my mouth. "This will help to relax you, he said..." which it did. Next he told me "this is going the be the most painful part of the procedure" which was to put a IV needle into my right arm. This did not hurt at all and I was happy he was "gentle and knowledgeable" regarding how he inserted the needle. Next I started to count from 10 backwards just to see how far I could count back - I only remember counting to 6. Next thing I remember is waking up in the recovery room with my wife sitting next to me. I asked if they were already done? She smiled and said "yes, it only took about half an hour and then they called me in from the waiting room". I felt a little dizzy and could understand why I would not be able to drive, but amazingly I felt fine! They had explained to my wife that the operation went smooth and no complications are expected. The third and fourth days were the worst with a little chipmunk cheek on my left side only. I followed post surgery recommendations of warm salt water rinses, taking my antibiotics, etc...Yes I had noodles and mashed potatoes in every possible style and form and won't be having any cravings for them in a while ;) but after just two weeks, I am pretty much fully recovered! I highly recommend Dr. Karimi should you require any oral surgery, he and his team were top notch in my book. FYI - under his advice he asked me to visit my general dentist 1 week after the surgery for a "check up", Dr. Murthy said "not many oral surgeons ask patient to do this, he must care..." and that "everything looks very good" and even was surprised as to how quickly I was healing and how little damage was done to the interior of my mouth. This is proof positive that I picked the right practitioner. Do be afraid of getting your wisdom teeth removed when choosing Dr. Karimi as your oral surgeon. I have recently gotten some teeth pulled and Dr. Karimi was my oral surgeon. I was very nervous and I had never gone under anesthesia before. I had so many questions for him and he answered all of them and then some. He made sure that I was educated of the procedure and made sure that I felt comfortable. The office was very pleasant and inviting. When I came in his warm smile made me feel right at home. Before I knew it, the surgery was over and he was walking me out the door. Dr. Ali Karimi is an amazing oral surgeon. I had an implant put in by him and it was less painful then a cleaning. He made sure I was was comfortable and understood what was going to be done in the procedure. He explained step by step and made sure I was doing great during the implant. I had zero burising and swelling after is was all done. I was able to eat within an hour. The healing process was quick with no discomfort. He also checked on me that evening and the following day to make sure I was still feeling great. The following week I went to my dentist office for a cleaning and everyone was so impressed with the implant. I highly recommend Dr. Karimi for any procedures you need. I had just gone today to get a pesky tooth taken care of (it was really overdue), and this was the first place I got recommended. I had high hopes that my tooth could be saved, but unfortunately it called for removal. I was absolutely terrified, seeing as how I'd never gone through any sort of oral surgery in my life, but Dr. Karimi knew just what to do in the given situation. The only thing I felt was the IV: everything else was completely painless. It's been several hours since the surgery, and the prescription was delivered just in time as the numbing medicine started to wear off. He was extremely helpful, and definitely knows what he's doing. Dr Karimi recently pulled out eight teeth from my eight year old daughter. He was superb in his professional and personal mannerisms throughout the process. Explained to us what to expect and also was very patient in trying to comfort our daughter as he was trying to put her under. Entire procedure only lasted about 15 minutes. She only took pain Med for slight discomfort night of surgery and then nothing after that. She didn't need any antibiotics and was free of any complications. I was in a bicycle accident and the emergency room doctor told me I needed to be checked by an Oral Surgeon. I needed to find one who accepted Medicare / Denti-Cal patients and I was given Dr. Karimi's contact information. I was so surprised and pleased at how great the whole experience was! I was able to get in for an appointment within a few days, the office was conveniently located, it was spacious, spotless and beautiful. I had a very short wait in the waiting room. The Doctor was very friendly and professional and he made me feel very comfortable, taking the time to take care of my mouth and explaining everything and answering all of my questions. He even had me come in for a follow up on his day off. I was very happily surprised by the whole experience and the care I received! My experience with Dr.Karimi was excellent. My first visit was for extracting a couple of teeth. I was in and out. I did not feel a thing. Dr. Karimi and his staff where professional and very friendly. My last visit was to get fitted for a mouth guard for my snoring. Dr.Karimi literally changed my life. I am extremely grateful for my appointment today with Dr. Karimi. Dr. Karimi is a very caring doctor with one of the best bedside manners I've ever seen. I have never been to an oral surgeon before, and I did not know what to expect and I am very thankful and impressed. Dr. Karimi went over all of my health information with me, spent a lot of time going into detail about what he thought was the best treatment plan for me, and made a lot of sense. Everyone has had either a toothache or gum pain at some point in their life and knows just how painful it can be. I didn't think truly there was anything that could be done for me until I walked in today and saw Dr. Karimi. He left me clear and detailed instructions about exactly how to treat my painful gums, and respectfully, kindly, and sensitively disagreed with two previous diagnoses I had received. Dr. Karimi scheduled a follow up appointment for me to keep careful watch to make sure my gums are getting better. Dr. Karimi's front desk receptionist, Celia, was also equally professional, cheerful, and very helpful. I have always been petrified of the dentist (aren't we all?) which is why I have been putting off going for so long (again... aren't we all?). I have had some really horrible experiences with even the simplest procedures over the years and after some bad dental work and suggestions from crappy dentists I ended up having to get 2 dental implants. Argg!!! I wouldn't have needed to have either of those 2 teeth pulled if the dentist(s) had handled the situation correctly but it's too late now. After all the stuff that lead to this point I was pretty much ready to call it a day and just commit to having 2 missing teeth at this point. I actually did it for about 3 years, I figured both teeth were in the back and no one saw them anyway (I know, pretty low rent), but I had finally had enough and decided to do something about it. Dr. Karimi came highly recommended to me so I felt a little safer but, still, past experiences have not worked out well for me so I was still a little ill at ease to say the least. I am very thrilled to say that Dr. Karimi did an amazing job and I couldn't be more happy or thankful. Not only was his work impeccable, he also was able to put me at ease effortlessly each time I saw him which was not an easy task I can assure you. Having teeth removed and getting dental implants is a multiple trip deal and after the first visit went so smoothly, I knew I could rest easily for the other upcoming trips. I literally walked in, went to sleep and I woke up with it being finished in what seemed like seconds. No pain, no grogginess or anything. Just a few stitches in my gums which dissolved a few days later. It really was one of those situations where I woke up after the procedure and asked when we were going to get started just to find out that it had already been finished. I don't know about you people but I can honestly say that that is EXACTLY the kind of dental experience I want. Ha ha. I want it to be so effortless and painless that I don't even realized it has happened yet. I really can't believe that all of my previous procedures with other dentists/oral surgeons have been such a nightmare even though everything I was supposed to be getting done was relatively easy and yet everything I had done with Dr. Karimi was a million times more involved and difficult and it could not have gone any simpler. Oh, another important part which I almost forgot. He also did a great job of explaining everything to me and let me know what all of my options were and how my decisions would play out in the future. My old dentist(s) definitely railroaded me into making some very stupid, expensive and terrible decisions but what can I say, I trusted them since that's what they did for a living. Pretty unfortunate but sometimes the dental/medical world can be very similar to the automotive repair industry. My 14 yr. old son had to have a tooth extracted. I wanted to find the best Oral Surgeon I could that accepted Denti-Cal. After much time and research I found that every Oral Surgeon on the list of Providers had terrible reviews. They all had only 1-3 star ratings. Most of them were not even Oral Surgeons, but they had an Oral Surgeon that came to the office once a month. Dr. Ali Karimi was my last search. When I saw the great reviews and Five Star Ratings I called his office right away. The Receptionist was very friendly and and did a great job of explaining things to me. She scheduled my son's appointment for the very next day, Which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Karimi has a beautiful office located in Irvine. They called my son back immediately with no wait time. Dr. Karimi was extremely pleasant. He took his time in explaining everything to us and was very kind and patient. We felt very comfortable in his office.
