All patients were invited to join their party featuring food, drinks, prizes and gifts, and warm hospitality. A fun time was had by all. Dr. Tim's generosity was so kind. I am now well-stocked with products to help soothe my dry eyes for many months! Everyone who attended the event received a raffle ticket and great prizes were awarded. They also gave welcome bags of eye-care goodies just for attending. The food offerings were anchored by the taco guys (I didn't catch their actual business name). They had a whole spread of condiments to go along with the tacos made to order. There were also sweet treats and pizza. A party feast! This is an eye care practice with heart, and lots of current technology, too. I'm so happy to witness their success and be a recipient of their expertise. Their anniversary milestone is worthy of celebration. Thank you, Dr. Tim, for including us!

Dear TO, NP and Westlake residents, You don't know how lucky…read moreyou are to have Dr. Zabaleta. I used to call TO my home town until employment changes forced me to move to Orange County in 2016. At about the same time, my vision was progressively getting worse until I could not improve it by wearing glasses anymore. My optometrist recommended fitting Scleral contact lenses since I have Keratoconus on my left eye and a cornea transplant on my right eye. I went through 3 fittings during the first year. Then 2 more during the second year. But still the lenses did not seem to fit well, I could not wear them more than 6 hours per day or I would get blood shots in my eyes after I take them off. I was almost ready to give up on Scleral lenses, when my Ophthalmologist recommended that I try Ketchum University Eye Center. Fortunately, I became a patient of Dr. Zabaleta when she did her residency at Ketchum University. Dr. Z took a lot of measurements and pictures using the specialized machines. She explained that since I have a cornea transplant on my right eye, I would need the largest Scleral lenses in order for them not to sit on the transplanted cornea. After just 2 fittings, I am able to see 20/20 and wear the Scleral contacts for as long as I want to because they are so comfortable. I was sad and a bit discouraged when I heard Dr. Z was ending her residency and planning to move on with her career. But 3 years later, I am still using the same prescription and Scleral lenses spec. without any issues. I am so grateful for the fitting that Dr. Z did for me that I decided to do a search; lo and behold, Dr. Z ended up in Thousand Oaks. How I wish I could move back to be her patient again. So if you are doing your research, know that you will be in the capable care of Dr. Zabaleta. From your first appointment you will feel welcomed as part of her family that she takes care with lots of compassion and patience. He took the time to show him the reason he needed glasses, even though my husband didn't think he needed them. Dr. Bajwa is great, but he doesn't do it alone. The ladies in the office are wonderful as well. They are very patient and help you with the process of understanding what frames work best for you and your prescription. I was used to just going in, find a pair of frames that I thought were cute and looked nice but there is more to it than just having someone follow you around handing you frames. The ladies took the time to explain to us what frames work best for our prescription and were a good fit for us. I had a beloved pair of Isabel Marant sunglasses that are no longer made, and Ana fixed them within minutes. She immediately knew how to handle the tiny screws without damaging them--which is incredibly important because once those screws are damaged, the glasses can no longer be properly used. I was blown away by her knowledge, precision, and kindness. Ana is definitely a consumer educator which is so helpful when making a purchase that is often needed on a daily basis! This place continually tries to upsell you. They offered me tear duct plugs for my dry eyes and…read morewhen I asked, I was told it was completely covered and there was no cost to me. They even told me to come in as often as I wanted because they were basically free. They never gave me a cost estimate because they said it was covered. 2 years later I get a bill for over $1k because apparently it wasn't covered and in the entire 2 years (over a dozen visits I had in that office) they never once told me that I owed them money. They just kept letting it build up. I would never have gotten this service if I had known it was costing me money each time. They never once told me there was a deductible in the 2 YEARS I came to the office. Only kept continually telling me it was 'completely covered' by insurance. I didn't even know they were billing my medical insurance and not my eye insurance because it was a 'medical' service. They didn't explain any of that. I did complain and they did write off some of the cost, but they are still expecting me to pay several hundred dollars for a treatment I would have turned down at the very beginning if they had told me there were any cost. The fact that it was 2 years of fees building up before they let me know is ridiculous. The whole thing feels like a scam. I shouldn't have to pay any fees, but I'm done arguing. I just hope that this review warns others to at least don't take their word for anything and double check your own insurance even if they tell you things are covered. And make sure you are asking if they are billing eye insurance or medical. I always thought it was weird they kept trying to upsell additional tests, etc, but didn't think it was a big deal because you can turn those down. But I should have gone with my first instincts and found a different Dr. after my first visit.

I haven't been to the office when there's been more than three customer groups so I assume that their scheduling system is efficient. Dr. Heller seems to have experience with many other Lasik patients so he passes on the knowledge. Although, be careful with the upsell of lubricating drops. I feel like I was an easy target for it. Frame selection: Not huge but it'll do. Consists of both prescription and nonprescription (sun)glasses. Designer sunglasses seem to be average retail price.
