Typically this place is packed on the weekends literally have to wait in line to pull into a stall to wash. There are vacuums on site as well. It's open 24/7. read more

It does the job but it's not great or that bad. Pay by the minute: token a minute which is a $1. It took me about 12 minutes to wash my car. I can see it taking 15 minutes on average. They have a change machine that only spits out tokens. The water that comes out of the hose is hot. Maybe because the warm weather. Be careful not to get too close to your car with the hose cause you can easily scratch your paint if you're not paying attention. If you're in a pinch with all the car washes closed. I went on a Saturday around 1:30 PM and it was fairly packed. I waited about 10 minutes for a slot to open up which isn't too bad. This coin car was requires a minimum of $2 to start. You have to purchase their 'gold coins' for it to work. When I came by there was an attendant which would help make change or give you coins if the machine isn't working. I used the sprayer mostly on two settings: water and soap then water and wax. It got the job done but the wax was nonexistsent. My car had water marks all over it especially on the glass and hood. I wouldn't recommend this one just because it was busy and the soap wasn't great. But it got the job done. Also it was in the middle of covid and the attendant was masked up. Really good! I vacuum my car often here and the vacuum has very strong suction and keeps my interior clean. Worth it to me and gets the job done, 2 minutes for $2. The car wash I used once and it was my first time so I didn't know the beeping meant time is about to be up in 1 min so I ended up with a soapy car and had to pay another $3 to finish but that was mostly because I had not used a car wash in a long time and had to get familiar with it again. the water pressure is so strong too! Kinda hurt my hand afterward from how hard you have to squeeze to get it out. So for $5 you can get the inside and outside of the car clean. still about half the price of a drive through car wash at a lot of places around here. I also appreciate that the design of the place is such that you can see where everything is at and where to enter from the street. I had tried to go into the kwik and easy car wash or whatever it's called down the street but their parking lot was so hard to figure out and blocked everywhere with cars where they shouldn't be, and the owner of that other wash had yelled at me for trying to figure out how to maneuver my way back out of their clusterf of a lot. Brought my new car here after a road trip to SoCal since it had bug splats all over the car. $1/min is a little more than I'd like but it was fine. Also, it's generally not drinking water (like your garden hose uses), so it's really all around better for the environment. That combined with the fact it's super cheap is why I bring my car here. This place has been around a long time. They have four washing stations and several vacuum and parking spots for drying and detailing after your wash. In my search for a good self car wash location, I decided to try this one first. For the sake of argument, I have elected that most people should be able to get a decent car wash done with 2 cycles on the timer. Drying may take more time, but the wash, soap, and rinse should be done relatively quick. First, The cost, $2 dollars for 2min. Unless you work on a pit crew for NASCAR, there is no way you can wash your car, spray wash, soap scrub, and rinse, all in two cycles ($4 for 4min). Second, there is a huge group of "day-labors" and homeless that like to be spectators as you wash your car. That could make someone feel a little uncomfortable. This place looks really run down. As if it's never been cleaned in any way. Even a wipe down on the machines that sell you the towels and coins would be a noticeable touch. I think they should offer abit more time on the timer, and from time to time replace the vacuum hoses. (They looked really crusty on the tips and handles.) So this place gets 1 star. Lots of room for improvement, should they choose to make it a better place to wash your car. read more

Came back after getting a call from someone from Gold Coin Car Wash and gave this place a try. First time trying a DIY-ish car wash and it's quite nice. I'd come back for quick clean ups for the front of my car. It's a dollar a minute, so I'd come back to wash the front of my car and the window for $4. Some tips for first timers, if your car is dirty, 7-9 minutes will be necessary for a compact car. There's a beeper telling you of minute changes. Wear some clothes you dont mind getting a little dirty because as soon as you spray your car with water, you'll be wiping your car with a lot of foam from a brush. I'd recommend starting at the front first since that's where all the bug marks are so you can give the soap some time to get in. Another area to look out for are the bottom of the sides. You can easily miss some areas of wiping and leave streaks of dirt yet to be washed off. Lastly, give yourself a little less than 2 minutes to wash off the foam, starting from the top, and move in a consistent direction almost like wiping off the foam. 6/20/16 Stopped by today and saw safety caution tape covering the entrance. Perhaps some renovation? I've sent them an email and will update this review when I get a response or when I find out when it's open. Darn, was looking forward to an affordable car wash. read more

Well I procrastinated for a long while before finally taking my car down to give it a bath. Getting ready I grabbed every quarter I could find and before I left I luckily also grabbed about ten dollars in bills. When I got to the car wash I realized the machines that spit out their special dollar coins didn't take quarters so I was lucky I brought the bills. To start the wash you need two dollars and I put in five just to make sure I would finish. Everything worked great from the foaming brush to the high pressure wash and I just couldn't seem to get it done fast enough and I had to add another three dollars in it to finish the job. After washing the car, I pulled up to the Vacuum station which there are many of and they cost one dollar for every three minutes. I put in two bucks and I had plenty of time to get all my mats and my whole car vacuumed. Overall I thought the place is well maintained and everything to me seemed to be working and in good condition. read more

The facility is pretty nice, a fairly standard coin-op car wash. They utilize a token system which is kind of annoying because you need to have plenty of $1 bills rather than just bring quarters, but other than that, no problems. What sets them apart is the customer service they offer. I recently had problems with very low pressure in one of the bays. So much so that I was only able to wet my car, and not actually wash it. I called the number posted on the door and left a message. A little while later I received a phone call from one of the owners who apologized and told me she would refund my money. Sure enough a few days later I received a hand-written note and my money back. This type of customer service is rare and amazing. The extra effort will keep me coming back to Gold Coin car washes. read more

I went here for the first time in my life. I have always lived in area and have driven by this spot many times. But for the first time in a while, I have no access to a hose/driveway to clean my car, so it was time! I had a decent amount of buildup on the Jeep (about a year and change of no wash!), so I knew I had some work ahead of me. I brought about 9 dollars with me, not knowing how much it'd take to clean it up. All the brushes and hoses worked excellent, something satisfying about using a pressure washer... All in all, 9 bucks was enough, but it being my first time I took too long with the pre-wash, and had to rush the rest of the steps (and missed out on the wax phase), but was able to wash it all off! The Jeep is now looking clean, but maybe i'll come back again this weekend (must get that wax) as it was way cheaper, effective and more fun than the alternatives! read more

I was there around noon today and had just soaped up my car when all of the sudden there was no water pressure. Just a little dribble coming out of the wand. I looked around to see if anyone was working there but I didn't see anyone. I had to let the water dribble over my windows so I could at least see to get some place where I could rinse off my car. FINALLY got my butt -- and my truck -- down there to wash off God knows how many months of grime, dirt, dust and whatever else was stuck to it. My truck, that is, not my butt. I've used Gold Coin a few times before, so clearly I haven't had any issues that would prevent my return. Everything worked, and that foam brush really cranks out the foam. I'm too cheap to spend tokens on any of the other services (e.g. tire cleaner, vacuums and towels) but they are available for you less miserly folks. I docked a star because there are only four bays, so sometimes one must wait a bit until a customer finishes up. In addition, the control panels occasionally reject a perfectly good token. The token is then launched into the washing bay and invariably rolls under one's vehicle, to hide under a mound of foam until (and unless) a retrieval mission is executed. read more

Nice that you responded. I dried my vehicle off while still at your location. The spots were so bad it produced a chalky powder. After rubbing of some of the spots with my fingernail it was still thick enough that you could feel it as a damp powder between my fingers. It took two hours of further work when I got it home. Your location in Concord is not an excuse as to why the end result after spending money is sub par. The prices are too high for this end result. The equipment at the site is heavily worn, and the location itself looks like urban decay. I drive by often, If I see improvements, I give it another shot. read more

Although I've always tried to keep my car presentable, I admittedly have not always had the best automotive hygiene (if that is a thing). Spending $40 to have my car washed always seemed too expensive to make a habit of. Spending an hour sitting around while my car is being washed always seemed like a huge waste of time. As I drove away, I'd always tell myself "I'll keep it clean", as my coffee falls out of the cup holder, or a friend treks mud into the passenger seat. Since I had to find something more cost effective than a $40 car wash, and something more reliable than my rain dances (curse this CA drought) I would often fall prey to the enticing "$2 off with fill up" gas station "car wash". Adding $9 to the cost of a tank of gas never seems too outrageous, until you drive away with a few clean spots on your still dirty car. This was my first time using a self service car wash (which was probably very evident when I showed up in formal business attire) and I've finally found the solution I was looking for. For less than the cost of a gas station "sponge bath" I was able to get the same quality car wash as the $40 clean. I am a big fan. The facilities are very clean and tidy, sprayers and vacuums work very well, and they have additional amenities available for purchase (ie leather and vinyl cleaners, Armor All, etc.) I looked on their website and was very pleased to find they have 7 locations in the bay area. I called the phone number to tell them about my positive experience, and within an hour the owner personally called me back to thank me for my business. I'm not really understanding all the negative reviews on here. This is my first time going to a self service car wash after trying several car wash services in Walnut Creek and not being happy with them after they've damaged my car and my boyfriend's car. I live in an apartment and don't have the space or capability to wash my car at my own place, so this is very handy. Took a quick minute to figure out how everything works, very simple. My car was super dirty so I think I paid for 10 minutes in the washing bay. Rinsed the car, soaped it up, used their foaming brush, wax, then rinsed. Then drove it to their vacuuming area. I brought my own towels and began to dry the car. After drying I vacuumed. Took $4 for a total of 8 minutes of vacuuming for my car (I have a small crosssover type car), but I'm also super picky about getting everything. I bought their armoral, tire shine, and windex cleaner wipe. Armoral and windex cleaner were fine, the tire shine was kinda meh. Was hard to evenly use the tire shine with the sponge provided in the packet, will bring my own tire shine in the future. I think my only suggestion to the business owner is to perhaps put covered areas where people dry and vacuum their cars. While I was trying to quickly wipe my car down, the sun was already drying it leaving water spots. I ended up making a towel wet to wipe it off then dry quickly. I'm also a big nit picker when it comes to my car being cleaned so I was taking my time and with no shade I began to sweat so shade would be nice for those who like to take their time. Other than the 1 suggestion I'll be back in the future. With the products purchased/used, vacuuming, and the wash I spent $18. So I came here to clean out my car after my car got broken into. Small to large glass pieces everywhere. This place uses coins so you need to have dollar bills. For $1 you get 1 token. For the vacuum it was 1 token for 3 minutes. I only had $4 dollars so I wanted to be quick but each time I did it, it did not seem like 3 minutes. I didn't time it so I can not be for sure. Hopefully my car will never be broken into again but I will come here if it does as other car places won't do it because of broken glass. read more

Driving all the way from la I wanted to wash the car because there were bugs killed on the way to the bay. I immediately started to rinse the front then as soon i notice there was no spot free rinse i went to ask the guy for help because what kind of car wash has no spot free rinse? Apparently, this car wash has no spot free rinse they want you to pay more money to buy towels to wipe it all down lol.
