First time here and had a great experience. Got here super early and got a seat at bar with a great cocktail in hand. I was one of the first to get a drink but there was definitely a line after me. A good consistent line for the bartender Cormack for the first hour and a half. He was awesome. Not only were drinks beautifully made but also delicious. He acknowledged every customer in line as the waited too. Super great service! Two opening acts and they were awesome. Then the main! They had merch to the left of the bar before the bathroom. This hotel is unique in the sense that it has a pub, live performance stage and recording studio. There is NO front desk so you have to go to the person behind the bar counter and they will check your name on a piece of paper and then provide you with a reservation card with your name, door access code, check in and check out dates. They will then walk you to an adjacent entrance that leads up to the hotel rooms. At night the bar is busy so you have to check in with the bouncer sitting outside the pub entrance! NO deposit required at check in! The rooms are clean and come with the following amenities: Smart TV to stream Netflix, vinyl record player, ear plugs to drown out loud music coming from the pub, USB charging ports as well as electrical charging outlets next to the bed, air humidifier, ductless air conditioning, three sofa seats, electric kettle, refrigerator, clothing steamer, yoga mat, luggage rack, two bathrobes, hair dryer and complimentary toiletries! The hotel also comes with a fire escape stairwell, an ADA wheelchair lift and an outdoor patio for smoking guests! Hotel is also walking distance to several restaurants and a T-mobile store! Checked in a few nights ago for a Jazzcat Fusion show and had a wonderful time!! The Staff was very friendly, organized, and enthusiastically welcoming and we really enjoyed the cozy and Artfully Intimate Ambiance of the Cave. The Space is well used for Performers to showcase their latest fun and special Collaborations and we like how there's a lovely well lit booth in a the back to sell Merch and Vinyls too along with the Artist's Manager available to answer any additional questions about booking! I came here for the first time for Britpop night while Oasis was in town and I had the best time. Chill vibe on the dance floor, fun DJs, excellent drinks, friendly bartenders, good crowd. Will definitely be back for a different themed night or just a regular night for a casual hang. I visited Gold Diggers on a Thursday night for my cousin's album release party. I've passed by plenty of times on my way to the freeway, so I was excited to finally check it out. Like most of LA, parking is a challenge, and street parking around here is especially tough. Luckily, I found a free lot nearby--which is almost unheard of in LA--so that was a definite plus. Once inside, I loved the vibe right away. The bartenders were super cool, the drinks were strong and well-made, and the bathrooms were clean (which is always appreciated!). My cousin packed out the venue and put on an incredible show, and the intimate, cozy atmosphere made the night even better. Gold-Digging Gold-Diggers. This Hollywood hidden hot spot event venue meets bar meets dance club meets recording studio meets hotel is an experience and then some. A disco ball, crystal sphere lights, modern chic decor, mood lighting, also an entire bar club lounge vibe were just what we needed. I came here to see a show with my friend Matthew at 7 pm - the event space has a great layout. Limited seating either in one of the booths, at the bar, or in the VIP area. Seeing New Constellations live with Dia Luna (new band discovery unlocked) opening for them was a true treat. We had some brews and cocktails throughout the night with the option to start a tab or do one-offs. They take cash or card and I want to say there might be an ATM. There's a bunch of floor space but it can fill up depending on the night, artists, or theme. Deep Cut Disco night coming up. Their non-artist nights tend to be free entry dance, hang, and enjoy events but typically don't start until 10 pm/1030 pm. Restrooms in the back of the bar are clean and easy to use but limited to I want to say two to three people at a time which can cause a line during concerts. If staying at the hotel they do note that noise levels are at least at medium, coming from below (all rooms are on the second or third floor. This includes shows and recording in one of their seven recording studios or Sound Stage. As a hotel guests, you can enjoy the guest lounge or one of ten different rooms and suites that include some fun amenities like a mini fridge, apple tv, coffee & tea bar, your classic ice bucket, steamer, yoga mat, cozy robes, a record player w/ vinyl records, free Wi-Fi and more. They provide codes for hotel and studio guests, making easy in and out more secure access. Parking is street only (metered directly on Santa Monica, but not on the side streets i.e. St Andrews Place, Wilton Place, and Sierra Vista Avenue). Metro also runs along Santa Monica Blvd, Western Avenue, and Gower Street. Closest Red/B Line stations are at Hollywood/Western (20 min by foot) or Vermont Santa Monica station (25 by foot). Some minor things I will note: The sound system got overwhelmed a bit a few times throughout the night, but the acoustics are epic! If using rideshare there's not really a great place to get dropped off or picked up in front all that safely - luckily Matthew's driver dropping him off and our driver when we were leaving had no direct traffic in back of them (between lights). A big improvement is the paid parking lot a short walk down the block and across. I went for a friend's burlesque night. Good to see some of the old flair was kept. I hate boring hotels. I have stayed at so many beige, run of the mill spots, that I searched Yelp for a "quirky" hotel. Hot damn, did I find one. Firstly, the noise level for the hotel rooms are LISTED ONLINE. It literally states that the noise level is loud for any room on the 1st floor (which is up a quick flight of stairs as the music venue is ground level) is loud. Well I lived in downtown LA for 8 years, so I booked it. Y'all it wasn't that loud. But even if it was, they provide ear plugs free of charge. I parked at the complimentary parking lot a block away and was able to check in around 4pm. I was greeted at the bar by a lovely woman who explained the lay out and walked me to the room, but not before showing me the lounge which converts to a greenroom when musical guests have a gig downstairs. Super cool. My room was the single, it was a cozy room with a barn door for the toilet area and a very nice shower. Besides having a fridge with two complimentary (and very nice) waters for guests, there is also a complimentary vinyl record each month to take home with you. WOW! There was a record player, several albums, a TV, a speaker and a nifty little restaurant guide provided. I got two complimentary drink tokens and my name with a plus one was on the music venue's list so I didn't have to pay the cover. The band was just ok, but the bartenders were amazing and the liquor they had in that cute bar was top of the line. I was surprised with the excellent selection. I was in my room my midnight (which is early for me) expecting to bear witness to these vibrating walls that others on this site have complained about. After all, it was a Saturday night and there was a band THEN a DJ performing so I was prepared for decibels so jarring, my ears would bleed. Um, no. I wasn't even that loud. Hell, when I have a male guest with me, I'm a hell of a lot louder than that. People need to get a grip or rent a room on a higher floor. I checked out a couple hours early and vowed to return soon for another night of fun. I am happy to report that I received an email with a discount code for a return stay - I will be using it. read more

Hole in the wall former stripper joint turned bar and concert venue. Heard of this place for years and finally got to visit to see Girl Ray all the way from the U.K.! There is a designated off-site parking lot on the north west side of the street. I forget what the intersection is, but keep your eyes peeled for a dark parking lot with a dark banner hung on a fence that says Gold-Diggers parking. There's plenty of parking spaces inside the designated lot. This space is small and the definition of intimate. I was so close to the stage, that one sneeze and I'd be in the band playing the tambourine. I've never been so close to a performer in my life and I had to awkwardly look at the floor or the keyboard player as I was right under the lead singer's microphone stand. Insanely fun though! I wore ear plugs because I was so close and it balanced out the sound perfectly, but if you don't have plugs it may get a bit too loud. They sold merch in the back by the bar and it was literally like swimming against a school of fish to get back there. The restrooms are super cute and nice and you could do a whole photo shoot in there. Definitely one of my favorite or stand-out concert venues I've been to in L.A. read more

Also, super grateful for a place like this that gives space to up and coming artists. L.A. is packed with so much talent from small to those who made it big. Here you'll find artist who you may haven't heard of yet but will hear of soon and who are talented. If you appreciate music, enjoy music from up and coming artists, and are in the mood for a chill but cool vibe with no pretentious people then this is your place. Check it out. What can I say about GD's hotel/bar/nightclub/recording studio, it's a ridiculous idea-- if you're looking for a good night sleep. The fact that this place wants to be and do all these things that don't quite fit each other, is a very poor concept. I booked a room here not realizing it was part of a club that's right downstairs. So when I came back for some shut eye at around 10:30pm from a GVF concert, I could hear and feel all the loud music playing downstairs right below me. It didn't matter if I slept in the actual bedroom or the small living area on the couch-- I could hear and feel every single beat! Not sure how the heck anyone is suppose to get an actual night sleep here, so I guess they just don't. And the one review "that said you couldn't hear anything"-- must've been deaf. HELLO! Your motel is sitting right on top of a freaking nightclub! How the hell can you not hear that? lol! I guess if you like bars, clubs, record studios but no sleep-- then the GD is definitely the place for you. I'm giving it 3 starts because it wasn't that bad but it's definitely not my first choice. I'm sure there are other Motels or Hotels around where one could get a good night sleep. I will say that what the GD does have going for it, is cleanliness, sharp funky decor and a warm hospitable hippy vibe. Near the king size bed was some fresh boxed water in a mini fridge with options for espresso or tea with cream and sugar for the morning and the check out was super easy and contactless. Other than that the night sleep was bearable and sufficient and I have no other gripes. If you're looking for a super lively place to stay up almost all night with your peeps, enjoy cocktails and loud music then this joints for you! read more

I think her name is Mikala? she has made several inappropriate comments and has a lot to say about people she doesn't know- it feels a bit attention seeking and social climb-y, in a very obvious uncomfortable way. This isn't the conversation I want to have when I'm ordering a drink. It's profoundly uncomfortable. I'm a paying customer and understand the ins&outs of the industry- her behavior creeps me out. This is not who you want to represent your bar. Also, if you live in LA and can't make a margarita or how to handle yourself when it gets busy, It might be time to grow up and move on. Hotel in East Hollywood with Vibes This hotel is hands down the coolest place I've ever stayed. The vibe is unmatched--stylish, laid-back, and full of personality. Nikki at check-in made everything so easy and welcoming. She greeted me with a genuine smile, took the time to answer all my questions, and made sure I felt right at home from the moment I arrived. Her warmth truly set the tone for my entire stay. The room was fantastic spacious, beautifully designed, and had all the little details that made it feel like home. Cool bar. You'd never know it was there just driving past in the area. Has a touch of a retro vibe complete disco ball and subtle appropriate furnishings (not kitschy). Quite dark aside from the bar lights and bathroom. Came here to see live music and the bands were great. Sound was awesome as well compared to a lot of small venues around town that are more popular. Lots of drink options, including low ABVs and NA options - tons of small batch and boutique liquors to choose from on the shelf. Parking's pretty difficult but if you can snag a street parking meter nearby, you're golden. They also offer hotel rooms and a recording space if that's of any interest. I booked a room in this hotel because I am SEVERELY allergic to animals and they take pet policies VERY seriously. THAT, I loved. When I got someone on the phone, we talked about this for a good 20 minutes and I felt very safe in my upcoming stay, knowing that I would NOT encounter an animal. So the day comes to check in. My room on the "first floor" was on the second floor. I had to climb a flight of steps with asthma and 3 suitcases. I dropped my stuff off and went to the event that I was in town for. When I got back to the hotel around 11:00, there was a show going on. It was in between bands and there were about 10 people smoking directly outside of the entrance to the hotel, so I had to wait for them to finish to avoid walking through a smoke fest. Disgusting. When I got upstairs, the room was shaking from the band. It was so loud and unpleasant. Since there is no concierge or number to call, I went downstairs to the bar to ask how long this would be going on. They said 2:00. I told them I was a guest and asked if we were expected to sleep in this. The gal was NASTY and said to me "You're above a bar" with the tone/subtext of "You're above a bar, you idiot." Yeah. I am from New York City. I understand the concept of being in the midst of loud things. The bass was so loud that I felt it in my chest: Fine if you are IN the venue, not cool if you are in your hotel room. When I booked the hotel, the girl on the phone (Who was LOVELY) said to me "You will be able to catch some of the show." What I THOUGHT she meant was that if I wanted, I could go and watch some of the show. I didn't know that she meant that I would be getting a migraine in my hotel room which was directly above the venue. They say they have a recording studio. Where is the sound proofing? With not a single thing in the room touched except a bottle of water and a rag, I left. I took my 3 suitcases down the flight of steps and went and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Golddiggers was $300 in the trash. They have a "text concierge" that you can interact with. I told them that I was leaving because of the painfully loud spill of noise and not 1 person contacted me. I was SO EXCITED to stay here. Such a shame. I'll say it again: $300 IN THE TRASH. If you stay here on a night where nothing is going on downstairs, it is probably cool. The room was beautiful, clean and had a turntable. If you are going here to actually get a good nights sleep, go somewhere else. $300 in the garbage. read more

NO! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past year. It was incredible. The hospitality, cleanliness, location all incredible. However, this stay was completely different. The associate who checked me in made me feel like a burden. I arrived early and made it very clear I did not expect an early check in nor did I want to be charged for an early check in fee. Since this is a boutique hotel there is not a traditional waiting room but there is a lounge. I asked to wait in the lounge until my room is ready at 3:00 pm. When I arrived I was immediately treated like a burden. First I had to wait on Santa Monica blvd for 15+ minutes before someone noticed I had texted in and let them know I was there. When someone finally received my message they made ma excuse about how it must have not come through. I had multiple bags of luggage and as a female traveling alone I felt very unsafe. Once I was finally checked in the female associate complained the entire time about having to assist with my bags. They have no elevator so it was only stairs. This is a different associate than has assisted me in the past so I'm not sure if they're under new management or this is a new hire. She kept making comments about how heavy my bags were and made me feel embarrassed for simply existing. Once I finally arrived to my room, I was exhausted from a stressful day of travel. When I laid down I noticed the pillows had a very interesting smell but I disregarded this and eventually the smell went away. The next day I had dropped an item under one of the hotel chairs and went to retrieve it. Upon moving the chair it was DISGUSTING. Clearly, this area had been completely untouched by the cleaners. Dust, crumbs, zip ties?? were under the chair. Gross. When I wore socks my feet were completely black after a few minutes. When you shower, the smell of sewage is extremely prominent. I had to make a comment to my boyfriend that....the smell wasn't me. I would let all of this go if it wasn't for the FIFTY dollar change on my invoice for "damaged towels" that they could not provide evidence of?? I travel for work and I have for many years. Never in my life have I been charged for something like this. Insane. I do not wear excessive make up so I can't imagine what this could possibly be. It seems not only is this hotel going down in quality but it is clearly desperate for money. As someone who loved this place and recommended it to so many friends and family, do yourself a favor and book anywhere else in LA! read more

An unostentatious doorway along a grimy, nondescript stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood leads into what was an erstwhile exotic dance saloon, now rebirthed as a live-music venue with a modest bar attached. The name itself would lend itself to a dark, cavernous space in which patrons can melt anonymously into the dimly-lit room, while watching entertainers put on a show. This isn't far off the mark. The disco balls help to dislocate the space into a magically spinning dimension. The jazz acts I come here for are no slouch, proving that there is, indeed, soul and swagger wedged between pawn shops, pupusa stalls, laundromats, general merchandising stores, vacant lots, and warehouses.  The monthly residency by Alex Sill and Benjamin Shepherd offers exciting collaborations with notable jazz artists of top caliber. Unlike the Blue Whale which serves as a temple of jazz listening, this is a place where people will yell back when they feel the vibe. The grittiness is part of its charm. The bar is definitely on the modest side but offers a selection of craft brews from local breweries. No food, nor a sophisticated cocktail hand. They offer mules using Mezcal (rather stiff, I might add). The bartenders are low-key and keep it casual. No pompous acts. The vibe is real and earthy. Even though the stage for jazz is well organized, they haven't quite figured out seating; you get the sense that they left it as is from the previous show when it might have been "Heavy Metal" night. Mosh pit or jazz club? Bit of an identity crisis. They might set up differently for each style of music: staggered cocktail tables or open floor depending on the night...(HINT!) Located on a bit sketchy street but close to everything in LA. And parking is couple of blocks away, but again, this is SoCAL. The bar was excellent. I ordered old fashioned and manhattan (thanks to the comp by the hotel), done with care. What I loved most is they check for your vaccination status. The patrons are equally careful, all of them were wearing masks when not drinking. And it is a grown up place when you just have to tune out from your busy day. No one is going to bother you, music is not obtrusive. Bar tenders are helpful. The hotel was top notch, a fully private hotel. The originals floors are piece of art. Every furniture, decor and paintings are artfully decorated. Water bottle/good selection of tea/coffee with nespresso were nice touches. And after a busy day, you can wind down here after having a drink at the bar playing one of vinyl. Bed was comfortable, the shower was a bit small, but again, don't complain, I am living in California for far too long. No hotel shouted LA this loudly at this price point. We stopped in ahead of going to an escape room for a cocktail and were pleasantly surprised. Great cocktail menu & our bartender Mackenzie was super cool! The history of this place! I love old LA. Not much of it left, but you can get a feel for it at Gold-Diggers. This is really a place for those that love LA, history and music. Love the vibes, the entire complex has been renovated and designed so beautifully. The dive bar is fantastic, a great place to get drinks, dance dance dance or check out a band in a really great intimate venue. I wish I had a record to make in the studios in the back. They took Ed Wood's old film studio and transformed it into beautiful recording spaces and studios. It's stunning. The hotel rooms above the bar are gorgeous. Roomy, hip and tastefully curated. The neighborhood is changing, can still feel somewhat sketch, but that's just LA. Constantly changing, often sketch. Might be best to take an Uber, Lyft, etc if you are going for an evening event. I have always been able to find street parking or park in their lot, but the hood could be daunting to some. I say suck it up and have a good time. read more

Venue is nice. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed for a concert but it gets loud when the regular bar crowd comes in after the show. Be warned the bar can be very loud even during an acoustic concert. Ice drops by bar staff during the quietest musical moments. The shaking of ice drinks is overwhelming during the show. Had to move away from the bar towards the mixing booth. The noise was overpowering unfortunately even the musician made a few comments about the bar noise. It was a rude thing do do many ice drops during the quietest moments of a song. It's folk music do it the thousands of times they are tuning their guitars. read more

I saw the band Bar Italia here a few months ago and I've been looking for a reason to go back. Pretty easy to park in the area. Chill vibe in a really small venue with pretty good sound. Really intimate space to see a band in. I didn't get anything to drink, so I can't offer an opinion on the bar. I recommend it for live music if you get a chance to visit. read more
