Great place for a show. Really small/intimate and sound is good. There staff was good, things were run well. They have Grand Old Echo on Sundays for the season, billing it as country but the bands we saw were Americana, yay. Very clean place and clean bathrooms. The complaint is that we came too early-- it wasn't clear the music doesn't start till 6:30 and had no idea there were 3 bands before the advertised headliner. Still we enjoyed it all and there's a stage out on the tiny back patio for a band where ppl continued to hang. Canned beer, some liquor for drinks, soft drinks, some food like hot dog, pretzels, popcorn. If you go early, you might snag one of the comfy benches along the walls. read more

I don't know much about LA and I was somewhat worried if The Echo would be located in a good part of town. To my pleasant surprise, The Echo was located in an area that felt like a small town. It was bustling with concert goers who seem to be conscious of everyone's happiness and safety. The feeling of community was strong. The venue was small but comfortable. The staff were helpful. Venue doesn't have a full bar so don't expect to order specialty cocktails. Paid $500+ for this particular concert. read more

I'm not a huge concert person, but there was a band in town "The Velveteers" who my friend turned me onto a couple of years ago, so when they came he wanted me to see them live and that's when I first got to experience The Echo (which is a different location than the echo plex downstairs). The staff was great, the crowds were limited, which made moving around and enjoying the evening much nicer. I had an excellent time and the bands were great and I'm looking forward to coming back one day. read more

Recently came again with my roommie to see Janelle Kroll, Jagwar Twin and Transviolet. I decided to get some drinks this time around and shoutout to Kim for being an amazing bartender! She was very nice and chatted with us for a bit before it got busy. The AC wasn't blasting as much this time, which I was grateful for. I found out they have a patio in the back for smoking and the mural out there is really cool. I don't know if it was intentional, but I loved the glitter all over the floor out there. All the bands did amazing and they made really good use of the small stage space. Such great vocals! Jagwar Twin did have a cameraman on stage that was blocking my view for half the show, so that was pretty annoying. One of the security guards was pretty rude. He kept yelling at my roommie to move and "make a path" when he wasn't in anyone's way. There was already plenty of room for people to walk behind him, so I don't know what his problem was. read more

Decent venue, nothing fancy, but is affordable, sometimes you can snag a spot on the street near by, they have cool acts and events. I am surprised I never reviewed it since I have been going to the Echo for over 10 years for concerts, NYE parties and always had a good time. The crowd is OK, bathrooms clean enough, drinks are reasonably priced. I like their DJ-s and their sets, really fun and gets you on that dance floor. I may be old, uncool, have a creaky body rife with illnesses/conditions; but I was once an avid concert-goer who has dated famous rock stars and also toured/worked in the music industry. I have stories galore but nowadays, I prefer to be at home cuddling with my cat in pajamas. I traded my grandma clothes for some leather on a Monday night to attend my 101st concert (not counting all the ones I've worked) that my friends in the band Hoobastank (yup, I'm friends with them!) were playing at The Echo. I've been to The Echo a few times but it has been quite a number of years so let's revisit with some updates... The Echo is a tiny concert venue that is more on the dive-bar end of things located on Sunset within walking distance of Echo Park Lake - literally, as it is practically around the corner and one can often spot a line for an event on the sidewalk circling toward the lake. The Echo is relatively a baby in the Hollywood concert venue scheme of things only being in circuit since 2001 having been a Latin night club in its previous life. Yet, it has firmly established itself and has been the backdrop to some of the biggest names in popular rock, punk, indie music and even some rap. The Echo has managed to grow an aura of 'cool'. Many of my fellow Yelpers mention difficulty in parking, a lot a couple blocks away and/or having to look for residential parking; but apparently none of these folks went down the side street as there are two huge lots directly behind and adjacent to the venue. I'm talking directly in the back behind the building. Not sure how people missed this? Parking is $2.50 max for the day and is free after 9pm. Careful though, as it requires paying ahead of time at the pay station kiosk and one was broken with no 'out of order' sign so we had to figure it out ourselves and walk to another one. The line for a show starts directly out front by the door which is standard but the entry process has changed since my last time in attendance. First of all, they only allow small bags, clear bags if slightly larger and no backpacks or anything resembling a backpack: my friend had a tiny purse in the shape of a backpack and they didn't allow it. Yet, they told her to go next door to the pizza place and grab a shopping bag because she could put her bag inside the shopping bag and THEN enter. So they allow a shopping bag but not a purse shaped as a backpack... so weird. Next, we had to first have our purses searched, walk through a metal detector and then a metal wand search. Am I at LAX security or a concert? Sheesh! The Echo itself is quite tiny (350 capacity) with the smallest, lowest platform stage and a long bar on the left-hand side. There is no barricade and you are practically on stage if in "1st row" standing. In fact, I was an inch away from the guitarist Dan's pedal board and he nearly kicked me a few times. One of the main complaints everyone, and I'm talking everyone in the audience, had was that it was FREEZING inside. We all had jackets and even huddled together in a rock show audience; we were still icicles. It was December! Turn the heat on or at least the AC off! I'm sure this is great for the performers under the lights and in the summer but it was quite uncomfortable for attendees.  The bar is credit/debit only for those who care. No cash. The actual concert experience at The Echo is legit for such a small space. Sound is optimal and akin to larger venues so their sound guy and system is grade A. Lighting is also quite good with the mixture of blues, pinks and house lights. Overall, it is surprisingly better than what you would expect. Staff is also quite chill not acting like attendees are children and didn't even come outside when we hung out with the band on the sidewalk for an hour after the show. The Echo is best summarized as an intimate venue where you can be up-close-and-personal with the act you are seeing versus having to deal with annoying, pretentious staff or a high stage. Just make sure to bring a jacket and a card to pay for drinks and parking. As for me, my old fart self is still recuperating from not getting home until 12:30am. read more

I'm only giving The Echo four stars because they need to update their hours. That aside...this is one solid gem I wish I had discovered much earlier in my life as an Echo Park native. My friend invited me to watch a band this past Sunday, so I decided to finally make my acquaintance with the Echo Park landmark; ten-dollars at the door is not bad for what the venue has to offer. Spacious dance floor, retro wall art, and the bar has an array of available beverages that I haven't seen in any other bar in LA; from June Shine Kombucha, Cold Brew Coffee, and draft beers, The Echo caters to just about any drinking palette. What really caught my eye was the shelf full of candy; KitKat, Twizzlers, and Reese's Pieces, what a way to maximize your profits! No one is leaving the Echo without tipping the bartender at least once! The outside patio is also quite spacious and caters to consecutive bands playing at once within the venue; I was somewhat surprised to see children with their parents, but I suppose this explains the candy at the bar... In all seriousness, though, I love this place. Merry times all-around over good music, drinks, and candy? What's not to like? Would gladly come back to watch a band play on any given night. read more

This venue, like many others in the Hollywood/Sunset Strip, is fairly small, dark space and a fun experience to check out new and up and coming new artists. The A/C was really cranked up which was nice especially during an unseasonably warm autumn evening. Limited drinks and snacks here, so check out the nearby places to eat within short walking distance. Parking, unbelieveably, we found a spot for free! read more

First time at this venue and honestly was kinda surprised by it. It's pretty small (kinda around the size of chain reaction if you took out the wall) but the overall sound packs a punch. The stage accommodated a 8 piece band with choreographed dances pretty well, which I honestly did not expect from the pictures online. There is also a full bar with reasonably priced drinks, for a venue in LA of course. I grabbed a Montucky for 10 + tip. My one gripe is the parking is a pain since there is no on site parking, but if you get there early enough you may get lucky like we did and get street parking fairly easily. Overall I would attend a show here again and now I want to check out the echoplex. read more

Great venue to come watch a band or two. We started with Dylan Dunn who has a sound and voice that I hope will take him far. Next up was Tipling Rock. These guys are pure indie surf rock and their music had the crowd moving. They put on a great show. After the show, both bands stuck around to sell some merch and talk with their fans. The guys from Tipling Rock are great with their fans and took the time to talk with them and even take some photos. The Echo has good sound and you could hear the music and vocals with clarity. The venue staff is also friendly and the bathrooms were clean. Overall great experience (except for the parking). Looking forward to another show soon. read more

This is a great little venue for seeing upcoming artists. I just saw Meet me at the altar and it was amazing. Things to keep in mind: -Don't bring a bag or purse, it'll make getting into the venue super fast and easy -bring ear plugs. Definitely had some ringing in my ears for the entire next day -they have a good amount of options for drink, but stop by a place nearby to eat before you show up Overall I had a great experience and would definitely see another show here. read more

Went here yesterday for an event and the event was amazing plenty of dancing space then you get to the bartenders and when I tell you the rudest people I've come across I asked what beers and the server rolls her eyes and points at the fridge. I went to another bartender who was arguably worse as she literally was arguing with the people in front of us and dismissed us because my friend was making sure everyone was ready to order and you go upstairs and another rude bartender and be sure to check they aren't hitting the tip button for themselves cause they will. First time coming here to see Loveless and I had an absolute blast. Spacious, the air conditioning was going on all throughout the night so it wasn't too hot. The lighting effects were on point. And there's a built in bar that you can help yourself to, and little tables with seats in one corner of the venue. I love that there's also a metal detector, it felt very safe. I recently came here to see a sold out show by Hoobastank. First off, parking is behind the building about a block back, if that's full, good luck. The venue is small and intimate and very clean. There's only a few seats to choose from here, but it's about 98% standup. The staff were professional and friendly. For the ladies, pack as light as possible. You will get your bag checked prior to going in. The bar had tons of choices and drinks were reasonably priced. Overall, this is a great venue to see any band. read more

So..........side story first, kind of. Lets talk about Spotify. Honestly, I think its the best $10.00 a month I spend on ANYTHING. Seriously. I listen to music constantly while working and at night before I fall asleep. That $10.00 a month is well worth it to me. Along with my subscription, I discover a whole bunch of new bands and music that I would normally not be exposed to. That brings us to Michigan Rattlers. A couple of their songs were in my recommended playlists and I started listening to them, and fell in love. They are an AWESOME band. Anyways.................... I'm in LA for a few days, and I saw that they were playing here at The Echo. Perfect timing? I would say so! I drove down, and found parking about a block away (free after 9pm). Well lit, but the whole parking lot was trashed! Abandoned cars, tent city etc. Wasn't sketched out or anything, just depressed and sad to see there are so many people struggling in life. Anyways.............. I walked up to the door and they check your ID and vaccination card (Very cool that they do this, IMO) and give you a quick wand pat down and you are on your way in. The place is cool. It has bench seating around the perimeter and then a decent sized floor in front of the stage. Bar and mens room were to the back left of when you walk in, merch table and womens restroom to the back right. Bar prices were fair. I got a Coke $3.50, and a Liquid Death can of water $4.00. Card only, no cash, currently. Michigan Rattlers were dope! They played for a good hour and a half. There were probably only about 100 people or so there, so it was nice and spaced out and had a very intimate feel to the whole show. I stood along the back wall the whole time and had a perfect view of everything. The only thing I didn't like about the place was that it was LOUD. Almost deafening loud. Not sure if it was because there weren't too many people there, and it sounded louder than it really was or what, but I would recommend earplugs if you have any type of issues with your ears ringing or anything like that after going to a show. Would definitely come back to this venue though. Had a great time and was glad to finally be out and about at a show after the last year and a half due to COVID. Michigan Rattlers rocked the house! I can here on Sunday for a concert . I live the intimate small setting of the venue. The people at the door were nice when checking ids. Such a cool feel when you walk in because the bar had a great place there with the neon signs. The old school garage feels . The bar had a great variety of drinks that were reasonably priced but the beer priced at 14$ is a lot : the patio was an easy getaway to get some fresh air I. Between. Live that it's a none smoking venue. I will come back for sure . They could use some more seating options as my friend said. read more

Fun venue, prices or whatever, if the band doesn't know how to sound check it wont sound good which is the usual. But.. every so often there is a band that real dials it in with the sound guy, and it sounds like f*cking magic in that space, it felt like there was electricity in the air. Security at the door is a bit comical, this guy wouldn't let me in with my film camera during echo farce rising, but then another employee told the guard that film cameras were fine. The funniest part was just how much of a fuss this power drunk security guard made of it, just to get put down by this guy that i told my story to, and by mere chance ended up being his superior. read more

The venue is very small. They don't serve food, only cookies and chips. All the staffs were nice. The restroom was very clean. The air circulation can get some improvement. The once great / locally-minded Echo has turned into a total douche-fest (not the patrons, the business). You cant even enter with a purse or handbag & they wont hold them for you. The drinks suck and you'll be hard pressed to find any up & coming local bands -- they don't take big chances like that. My first time at this venue was very unpleasant. I was invited to a show at 9am the day of the show and tried to reach their phone number and email on their contact page for ADA accommodations. After not hearing anything from them, I decided to head to the venue and tough it out despite having a disability where I should not be waiting in hot, sunny weather outside on the ground. When it's about time to go in, someone showed up who had apparently got through and requested early entrance so they could get first row. This is not a legal "reasonable accommodation" under the ADA, and is a common trick that is being spread around social media for early entry to GA shows. Venues like The Fonda, The Greek, and even The Forum have actually disallowed this practice and eliminated it from their ADA accommodations. I shared this with their team, who interrupted me countless times, told me I didn't look disabled enough to be given accommodations, and told me that I should have tried harder to get accommodations. I strongly urge this venue to revisit their ADA accommodation policies and discontinue early access for people who just want to be front row. If you are disabled like me, don't try to go to a show last minute and expect to be accommodated in a fair and even way. BONUS: they called me, a person who had just self identified as someone with a disability, "insane"! That is incredibly ableist language. I hope they seriously take this as an opportunity to look internally as an organization at their practices, policies, and sensitivity training. read more

Visited for the first time to see Jenevieve perform. I immediately loved this intimate space and was able to walk right up to the stage. They checked for proof of vaccination at the door. There is a bar inside with drinks as well as some light snacks like cookies and chips if you forgot to eat beforehand. Despite a mask requirement at the time, hardly anyone was wearing masks. Bathrooms were average level of clean, one stall was missing toilet paper. There was a table off to the side for merch. No seating just standing for this event. The green room is near the women's bathroom and this is where the artists will come out to the stage, if you want to get a photo. Sometimes the artist will do a meet and greet on the back porch - my friends and I mistakenly heard "in the back" and wandered into the green room, so I know what that looks like too!!!
