I don't relish writing bad reviews for small businesses, but in the interest of protecting other potential customers you must know NOT to bring your watch to Gold N'times. I only wish I had read some of these reviews before I went there myself. I brought in my deceased father-in-law's Rolex that he left to my son. Our plan was to give it to him at his college graduation. The watch had sat in its box for 10 years and I paid Vic $425 to service the watch. He said he would take it apart, clean it, and make sure it was running correctly. When picking up the watch, Vic said that it was keeping good time. We gave it to my son and that day when he wore it at graduation he noticed that not only would it stop and start running, but it was running fast--hours per day fast. I was disappointed, but took it back to Vic and told him about the problem. He took it and when I returned one week later, he said he didn't know why it was running fast, that he re-oiled a jewel, and that it was now keeping good time. I drove 30 minutes home, and when I arrived, it was 5 minutes faster than I set it at the shop. Of course, this continued and by the end of the day it was no where near keeping correct time. At this point, I was done with Vic and Gold N'times. I took the watch to a recommended shop and the owner called me the next day and described a hairspring problem that was causing the watch to run fast. Additionally, he showed me the internals of the watch and how it was obvious to tell that the watch had not been cleaned recently. I could not afford the full service price he quoted me, but he offered to stop with the repairs he had done thus far for $200. I returned to Vic's shop to ask for a refund--and not even a full refund. I was asking for $200 back to settle with the other shop. This would leave him with money for his time and I wouldn't have to be out any additional money to give my son his grandfather's watch that could actually keep time (even though it still hadn't been fully cleaned or serviced). I explained my side to Vic, that I had paid him for a watch service that left me with a watch that did not tell time and I described the refund that I felt was fair. He immediately told me "I can't help you with that" and he was shocked that I would have even come back to him to ask for any kind of a refund. He actually started ignoring me as I tried to discuss this with him--looking at a magazine on his display case and even walking into his work area as he continued to tell me that he couldn't help me. Even after I confronted him about having clearly seen that the watch had not even been cleaned, he continued to tell me that he could not help me and even told me that I should just pay the $200 to the other shop and be happy that I had a working watch. And in a particularly pathetic bit of sarcasm, he actually suggested that I sell the watch if the money was so important to me. Needless to say, I left without any kind of refund. Honestly, this entire interaction made me more sad than angry--sad to see a business owner not only do such shoddy work and pass it off as professional, but to actually be willing treat people with such dismissive apathy. read more

Terrible customer service. The owner lied to me for 6 weeks that he would have my daughter's engagement ring repaired. I asked every Tuesday and he told me every time it would be done Friday. He also has several of my watches that he hasn't touched in 6 weeks. Do not patronize this business if you want results. read more

Vic has been my go-to clock repair man for 12 years that I lived in Fauquier. he fixed my 1951 German coo-coo, restoring it to perfect condition. It's been ticking now for over 14 years! plus Vic repaired a German Black Forest Owl clock I bought in Germany. My cat pulled the weights and the clock smashed to the floor. It was awful. what a mess. Now, I can't even tell where the broken pieces were repaired. it was a bad crash onto a wooden floor. Now the clock is still happily ticking. read more

My experience with Victor is very different from the negative reviews. I have had him service our Howard Miller grandfather clock and Seth Thomas clock. On the older clock he was up front and said that parts were hard to find, but he did a great job. He also helped size a watch band for my daughter. This guys deserves zero stars. VERY RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL!! ARGUES with you!!! We dropped off our light up bubble clock to be fixed. He had it for a couple months before we finally had to call him to find out what was going on. It was always the same response "I'm working on it." He DOES NOT call to let you know what's going on. After getting tired of waiting for it to be done, we decide screw this we just want it back. We go to pick it up. We ask if he can just replace the guts since he can't seem to get parts to fix what's there. He says yes. After a few weeks we called to check on it and are told it's done. WHY DIDN'T HE CALL US TO LET US KNOW? And the clock LOOKS LIKE CRAP!! The hands he used are a completely different style and are from a much smaller clock so they look HIDEOUS! And we asked for a second hand that sweeps but it's one that jumps to each second. When we asked about it he says "why does it matter?" It matters because we are the customer and that's what we asked for!! And the light bulbs were missing from the clock. When asked about it he denied over and over again that he did not take them out. He finally located them in his shop and gave them back. And when we asked for the original guts he said he threw them away. WTH???? So after 4 months the clock is fixed but looks awful. I have a Cuckoo Clock that was old and very sentimental to me. I asked a local clock repair for help and was told just throw it out, they aren't worth repairing. I wasn't able to take that advise and continued looking. Than I remembered Gold N Times in Stafford, I had moved out of Stafford and forgot they were here. I took my precious clock to Victor and to my delight he fixed my clock. All it need was cleaning as it was close to 50 years old. Thank you Vic....my clock is now working perfectly. read more

Worst of the worst, he came to home to repair my grandfather clock 2 hours early at 7:45 am (unbathed) he "fixed" it but broke the handle control. He took my cuckoo clock to repair and said give him a month. What a joke!! I called a month later and he explained i needed to be patient because he ordered parts from Europe and because of Covid it will take longer, month after month I called same answer until I showed up 1 year after he took the clock and he asked what it looks like! Then he asks me to send a email with a pic which I did and of course no response now 14 months later I show up and I do have it back not repaired exactly the way I gave it to him. So, follow up as I said I was going to go up there to find out what was going on. My mom went up there 2 weeks ago to inquire about her grandfather clock that has been there since 2021....she was told they had to order tubes from Germany and only two have come in...she said she would just take the clock and pay for the two tubes then and they told her it was in pieces at the moment. I went up there two days ago, was told they finally got all 3 tubes in and the cable and it would take 6 hours to do...I asked if it could be ready by Saturday....mind you, they have had it since 2021....20 fkn 21.....and he said no....so I said cool, give us the clock and we will pay for the tubes. The clock was brought out covered in dust...had not been touched since my mom dropped it off, even though they told her it was in pieces....the three tubes that they had to order from Germany, well the dumbass left the receipt in the box, they have had them since August of last year...all 3....all together....because they bought them off the guy in downtown Fredericksburg off of Caroline street....where I told my mom to go to begin with. So if nothing else, the guy is straight up liar and I would recommend no one take anything to him ever. It may be time to retire. read more

I have always gone to Gold N' Times for watch and clock repair and purchases. Prices have been better than others, and service is friendly. He also repaired a couple of antique pocket watches, one of which was 100 years old and hasn't worked for many years. They all now work great! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Vic is a disgrace to even the worst form of customer service. I bring my watch in it had a broken crystal and needed a replacement battery. I asked for a quote and timeframe( standard stuff right?), he responds by saying oh I will let you know I need to find the crystal. I take my ticket and go on my way. More than a month passes and I hear nothing. I call today and it's still not fixed, but he says " just come on by I'll get it working and fixed in an hour. I give him three, and show up there is a sign said he's gone to lunch, no timeframe of return. So I wait. Eventually he returns about 45 mins after I showed up to the store. I show my ticket and the helper gets my watch. He says people leave their watches all the time and never pick them up! I told him that I was never called, he says oh yea that sounds like Vic. I take one look at the watch, the hour hand is mangled and the crystal isn't the same aftermarket part. I said this isn't fixed, I want to know what you are going to do to fix my watch you returned to me damaged and worse off than before?! He just throws my watch down on the counter and says to refund my money that they asked me to pay prior to seeing the finished product. Then doubles back to say, " well since you are t happy with it I'm taking my crystal and battery back!" I said to give me my refund and my damn watch. He smiled and threw it back down and asked if I wanted cheese with that? Then walked out of his own store to the pub next door. This place is a joke. If I thought I could actually get my watch fixed properly and get reimbursed by small claims court I would. However I don't think he has the means to pay the restitution. Stay away from this place. Upon entering the shop, you are transported back in time literally not only it is littered with over 500 clocks and watches of all kinds but the watch man Vic is like a character from grand ma's fairy tale. He must be close to 80 years old a veteran of many psychic wars. The place has that nostalgic feel, the scent of wood or a museum trapped in time a setting from twilight zone or those archaic places reminiscent of Stephen King novels. You got to give it to this guy he only charges $3 per link of a bracelet watch and it only took him less than 10 minutes to adjust my automatic. I went a few places around my area and they charge 15-20$ while Vic charged me $12 for 4 links. I find it beyond logic reading the negative reviews about him how can you do that to an old man who resembles Santa Claus and only making a living out of watches. If it didn't work out so maybe the job order is beyond his capability. I'm coming back to oil my automatic after four years and he promised me he'll still be around. If you plan to visit Stafford come visit his shop even only for a photo and thats a guaranteed 1000 likes on your social media account because his workshop, his collection and Vic himself is awesome a relic of history. read more

Do not go here for jewelry repair. It took a month and a half to get two of my rings back that I wanted re-sized. When I first dropped them off, they said it would take a week. A week passes, and they still didn't have them ready. This went on for a few weeks. And then finally, over a month after I dropped my rings off to get re-sized, they were ready to be picked up. However, after a couple of week, both bands on my rings split in half. They were my grandmother's rings she had since she was a teenager. She gave them to me a couple of months before she died last year. They butchered my grandmother's rings. When I called the shop to ask for a refund because the rings split after a couple of weeks, the owner was VERY rude and dismissive towards me. He kept interrupting me as I was trying to come to a solution with him. Then he offered to fix them free of charge. He promised (literally said "I promise") that they would be done on a specific day. I went back to the shop to pick up my rings, and lo and behold... my rings weren't ready as I was promised. To top it off, my rings were not even in the same town, let alone in neighboring cities. I knew he took them to another place to work on them, but I was under the impression that the place was in Fredericksburg or Spotsylvania. Nope. They were in Richmond. To make matters even more stressful and aggravating for me, the owner wasn't even the one who fixed them. Some other guy was. I had no clue who this person was, his skill level, his level of trustworthiness, etc. I did not find out that my rings were in Richmond being worked on by a complete stranger until the co-owner told me when I went there on the day that I was "promised" they'd be ready by. Being that they were my grandmother's rings, were close to 70 years old, and the fact that she died and they were the last thing I had of hers, I lost sleep. My hair was falling out from the anxiety. I was racked with anxiety so bad I had constant heartburn. I had panic attacks and cried a few times. My grandma is dead, and those two rings were the very last gifts she gave to me before she died. About two or three weeks passed and I FINALLY got my grandmother's rings back. It's been a couple of weeks and thankfully they have not fallen apart or split again. The ONLY thing that was accomplished by going to them for jewelry repair was that they essentially butchered my rings and to say that I experienced extreme anxiety while my rings were all the way in Richmond with God only knows who "working" on them, is an understatement. I will NEVER EVER go back to them again. The only reason why I gave them one star (I'm a generous person) was because the co-owner was very kind, respectful, and apologetic. The entire ordeal went on from the middle of this past May until the first week of August. The amount of time it took for them to just do their job was nothing short of offensive and deplorable. The owner never called me to apologize or anything of the sort. He kept going back on his word, broke his promises multiple times, and mutilated my grandmother's rings. Each time I talked to him he was rude and dismissive. The co-owner was the one who kept in contact with me and respected my frustrations regarding the whole situations. Do not go here. They charged less than other places in Stafford to re-size rings, but saving the 10 or 20 bucks is not worth it at all. I am honesty dumbfounded as to how this business is still operating. read more
