I was looking for a place to service my vehicle that is not a dealership...I just dont like the dealership service departments. I found this place online with rave reviews and its close to my home so I figured I would give it a shot. I scheduled online for an appointment, but then 2 days before my appointment I had an opening in my schedule so I called to see if they can get me in early and they told me to come on down. I went in to drop off my vehicle and they were super nice and friendly and gave me a 5pm estimated pick up time, and it was actually ready an hour before that. They called and told me its ready for pick up. When I arrived to get my vehicle, they went over pictures and what they saw but there was no up-charge, no additional fees nothing like you see at dealerships. Unfortunately, good automotive work doesn't make up for terrible customer service. I called Gold River Automotive FOUR times yesterday Thursday, trying to get an estimate and received no response until around 5:00 PM. I happened to be in a dead zone when they called, but I returned the call just eight minutes later and they were already closed. When I called back today Friday around 12:30 and asked about my quote, the gentleman said, "I tried to call you yesterday." I explained that I had received the message and called back shortly afterward. His response? "Yeah, we close at 5 and have lives." Seriously? He quoted me around $395. When I mentioned their $30-off coupon, the response was basically, "Oh, okay, I guess." Then I simply asked what their hours were tomorrow, Saturday since I mentioned I was out of town for work. Instead of just saying they were closed, he AGAIN responded with, "We have lives." I'm well aware that employees have lives outside of work. I never expected anyone to stay late or come in on their day off. I simply asked normal questions that any customer should be able to ask without being met with sarcasm and attitude. The car WAS repaired at Gold River Automotive, but we will absolutely never return. You can be the best mechanic in town, but if this is how you speak to paying customers, eventually they will take their business somewhere they are treated with basic respect. Nate is Great! I could not recommend any place more strongly. I have been driving for over 40 years, have lived in over a half dozen cities, and Gold River Automotive is the finest automotive repair shop I have ever encountered. Three days ago I found my Kia broken into. The passenger window shattered, the electrical wiring under the steering wheel torn up & hanging out. Apparently, the thief was scared off at the last moment. I called up my Kia dealer who said it would be 4 to 6 weeks because the windows were on back order. I got the same response from an independent Kia repair shop. BOTH quoted prices of several thousand $$ for repair. I decided to call Gold River Automotive because it is down the street, and I see it has gotten very high reviews. NOW I understand why! Nate answered the phone, was informative and friendly, and I took my Kia in. Nate got back to me, said he called around, and was able to find a passenger window at a salvage yard in perfect shape and decent price. He was also able to repair the undercarriage of the dashboard with less complication than would seem visibly apparent. He got the car back to me in less than ONE day, good as new! After looking at the brake caliper Renton called and said the caliper was fairly new and I might want to check and see if it was still under warranty - which I did but no luck. Not a problem, Gold River Automotive was able to find a new caliper, do the oil change, and get my car back to me the next morning. Good communication and fair on the price. read more

5 Star Service and Recognition to Renton and his staff, for their timely and excellent diagnostic service for my 2013 Nissan Versa. For 10 years, my car was exclusively serviced at Future Nissan in Roseville. But when my car broke down on I-80 East the Friday before Christmas, 2023 and I had to have it towed back to the Sacramento area, my neighbor suggested having the diagnostic service done at Renton's shop. This shop is known for their honesty, integrity and customer service values. I called the shop and explained my situation about my car. I was able to get an appointment for Wednesday, December 27, 2023. After performing the diagnostic service, Renton advised me of the transmission failure and broken motor mounts! The car had only 86,999 miles on it (thanks, Nissan Corporation for the problematic CVT)! The cost to repair the transmission and motor mounts was very reasonable, but due to the issues with the CVT, I was very leery to proceed with the repairs. There was NO pressure from Renton to proceed with the repairs and he understood my reasons. If you need a professional, timely, respectful and honest automotive shop for your car's maintenance and repairs, please utilize this shop! I have nothing but good things to say about these folks. I have an older car which needed a timing belt replacement - To be honest some local shops wanted nothing to do with it, but Gold River Automotive welcomed me warmly. After discussion on the phone the texted me a comprehensive estimate with all costs for parts and labor broken down, I really liked that so I set an appointment to have it done. The night before my appointment our other car started making a funny noise and I called them asked if they could look at that car as well the next morning, once again I was pleasantly surprised when they said 'Sure, bring it on it as well', talk about a lifesaver. Dropped both cars off at 9 the next morning and they were both done by 3 in the afternoon. Communication was awesome throughout this experience and some other shops could take some lessons from these folks. Extremely pleased with my experience, they fixed both my cars and had me back on the road in half a day, truly amazing. Aw, I got to give it to these guys! I chose this shop based off its great reviews. I took my car in after it was having some minor issues with getting the engine to turn over. Luckily, after they ran some diagnostic tests, nothing ended up being wrong, but I was definitely happy to get it checked out. The guys here seem genuine. They could have easily made something up for the $$$ (sounds terrible to say, but this has happened to me before) so I truly appreciate their good communication and honesty. They quoted me $190 for just the diagnostic check, when my boyfriend came in the next day to pick up his car after they kept it over night just for a diagnostic check, they charged him $90. Women, if you're looking for a reliable auto shop to go to then avoid this place. Obviously they don't care about their female patrons and are just money hungry. Find literally anyone else to go to, go to the homeless man around the corner if you have to, at least he wont try to charge you $100 more than the regular price. read more

Hi-ya! I needed an oil change and was quoted a reasonable price and came in for my appointment the next day. We've been here once before, but the services rendered were for another vehicle; nonetheless my experience on this occasion was positive. Renton was the attendant/owner and was clear about what was going to be done--no changes in the quoted price and I didn't have to wait. My appointment was at 3 and my car began service shortly after getting there. The customer wait area and adjoining gated side area have a wood panel theme that has an eclecti/novel feel--cool shells and creative crafts adorn both areas. They provide a unisex restroom, Keurig coffee and some sweets while you wait. The primary customer wait area has kids books, a desk and is comfortable to wait. The services were prompt and I was advised to change my air filters $18/ each--which we did as they were pretty bad--the fires north of us are hitting out area with Smokey air. The owners mother was a gem, really nice lady and I can't think of any cons. 5 stars, keep up the method in which you do business with your customers! read more
