Gold Rush Café is a true hidden gem in Paducah, KY. And it's hidden, quite literally, in plain sight, in downtown Paducah. In town for Derby weekend we were looking first food before doing some sight-seeing in Paducah (some may ask "Paducah? Really?) and this seemed like exactly the kind of local eatery we like to visit. Gold Rush Café is located right on a corner and has an unassuming but welcoming storefront. When you walk in the door you're literally in the dining room, and you wait to be seated. It may look like there's only about a half dozen tables, but there's an entire dining room that you can't see on the other side of the wall. On this particular Saturday morning the place was hopping so there was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected. I'm guessing this place has its own local renown and that regulars know that, yea, there may be a bit of a wait, but that's normal. There was a young girl (I'm guessing 14-ish) taking names and helping seat customers. Our server (whose name I don't recall) had a t-shirt on that said something to the effect of "Warning: I Have No Filter", which was awesome and, based on the décor, was pretty much the wit and sensibility of Gold Rush Café. It's about good food, good fun, and a free side of whimsy. After looking at the menu I decided on the Cajun Forty-Niner. Shredded chicken, tomato, and bacon, heavily seasoned with Cajun seasoning, over some amazingly awesome Mac & Cheese. My wife opted for the banana pudding waffles. As we waited staff was hurriedly rushing around taking care of things. Clearing tables, getting drinks, and helping keep the place in order. Great teamwork by the entire team! Our food came out in less than ten minutes, and O.M.G., it was fantastic. I'm not generally one to go for putting something on top of Mac & Cheese, but this...there was some amazing wizardry going on with this. My wife LOVED the bread pudding waffles, and she *hates* bread pudding. If we find ourselves in Paducah again, Gold Rush Café is definitely a must-visit. I get the feeling this hidden gem is also a local favorite.

Sausage Egg Cheese Breakfast Sandwich (I didn't want egg) with Homefries

Nice little breakfast spot in downtown. They were doing a pretty steady business on the Wednesday morning we visited. Only one waitress but she was covering everyone very well. My wife had the 2 miniwaffles and a side of bacon. She liked the waffles but thought the bacon was fatty. I had the sausage breakfast sandwich (sans egg) with home fries. Nothing was hot, but it was warm enough to be good. I ate the sausage and potatoes snd brought the biscuit home. We would eat there again for sure.

Good food but I think it's kinda pricy to start the day off bacon cheeseburger omelette is my go to here it's great but it's 13.99 the biscuits and gravy as a side and hash brown casserole is good no complaints from me give it a try!!

Calamity Jane, scotch eggs, and the bread pudding waffle

We were traveling through and found the restaurant on Yelp. The bread pudding waffle is amazing - every bite better than the last. The staff was so friendly, helping my husband find a variety of hot sauces to add to his Calamity Jane meal. The chicken tenders were light and flaky. We will be back on our next trip.

Fabulous food, truly. Unique dishes themed around the "gold rush" atmosphere. A quick bite when not busy on a random weekday mid-morning. Bread pudding waffles were our favorite!

This is the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had.

This place is a hard 10 plus. The people are great, the food is amazing and the price is even better. Make we wish I lived here. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ended up eating most of it. The absolute best biscuits and gravy I've ever experienced. And it is an absolute experience. This is a must eat at kind of place.

BEST BACON, egged and hash browns!

We'd heard about this place and made it a point to stop - GREAT service, brekky and ambiance. Our Billy the Kid breakfast was SO good! The bacon and sausage were exceptional! Ya gotta try this place!

We came to Paducah from out of town for a baby shower and were on the hunt for a good breakfast place. Upon searching on Yelp, we were presented with Gold Rush Cafe so we said let's do it! We were there the weekend of BBQ on the River so maybe it was an off day for them but the wait to be seated was ridiculous. It took about 45 min to be seated and they had an entire section of tables closed (~10 seats). This is in a restaurant that probably only seats 30 people total. It was more challenging than I anticipated to even get on the list to be seated. I had to wait 10 minutes just for someone to take my name down. Once we were finally seated the experience improved. The server was decent. I ordered the western omelet while my husband ordered the calamity jane. We both enjoyed our meals and the portions were very generous. The breakfast only options in Paducah are limited so I do recommend going here and I do think we'd give this place another try despite our initial frustration over the seating process.

I ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, and it was enormous. The bacon was cooked perfectly, crispy without being overdone, and there was plenty of it. The toppings were fresh, the cheese was generous, and the burger was so big I couldn't finish it all. I wanted to, but it simply won the battle. One of the things that makes Parker's unique is the atmosphere. The walls are covered with horse racing memorabilia and photos. The owner is involved in horse racing, and the racing theme gives the restaurant a personality all its own. And don't leave without trying the ice cream. We had the soft serve, and it was absolutely delightful. It was the perfect finish to a great meal. This is the kind of classic American drive in that is becoming harder to find. Freshly prepared food, generous portions, local character, and a memorable experience. If you're passing through Paducah, Parker's is well worth getting off the interstate for. After doing some record shopping we asked "Where's a good place to go for lunch" and there was a unanimous "Parker's" from standers by. It was also, literally, about 3 blocks away. There's a menu board mounted behind the counter and they can hand you one so you don't have to squint your eyes to see all they have to offer. And this menu is ENORMOUS Parker's is a very cool throwback to the car hops of the 50s and early 60s. You can order outside on the speaker or go inside for the full-on experience. The inside is decorated with movie and music memorabilia and neon. Lots of neon. If you're eating inside you order at the counter, they give you a number, and you find a seat. The menu is hand-held/bar food. Burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, and fries, and a variety of sandwiches and a HUGE selection of sides. My wife had a mushroom and swiss burger, I had your basic cheese burger. Our sides were onion rings and fries. Our food was delivered hot, fresh, and accurate within ten minutes. My wife's burger/onion rings came on a basket shaped like a guitar. #AWESOME!! The food was tasty and delicious. I asked for tomato on my cheeseburger and they were able to add it, but was sliced probably 3/4 of an inch thick! It made the burger look a little lopsided, but it was still good. The staff was friendly and didn't look at me funny when I asked for a side of mayonnaise for my fries (yea I'm that guy). The dining room was authentically decorated, like I said, with vintage movie and music stuff down to the chrome chairs and the soda fountain seat with silver, twirly seats...even the floor tiles were like something you'd see in a movie from the 50s. Our first visit was a great experience and we had a lot of fun despite unrelenting rain. If we get to Paducah again, Parker's Drive In is definitely our lunch destination.

We showed up right at opening, five o'clock, and there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. Make a reservation. I'm glad we did. We had a party of four and was seated at a low top that had a view of the kitchen. Lively open space with an open kitchen you can see both the cook line and the prep area. The cornbread was the unexpected standout of the entire meal. Mildly sweet, savory, light and fluffy all the way through. I was not expecting a side dish to steal the show, but it did. We also ordered the double stuffed burrata, and the bread it came with deserves its own mention. Crisp, lightly toasted, with just a touch of char. It paired beautifully with the creamy burrata and the accompaniments on the plate. For my entree I went with the grilled Caesar salad and added shrimp. It ended up being the perfect call. The portion was generous, the shrimp addition made it feel like a real meal. The romaine had this excellent crisp char on it that added so much. The dressing was heavenly. One of the best Caesar dressings I have had in a while. My favorite parts of the night had nothing to do with what was on my plate. We got to watch chef Sara Bradley working the kitchen with her team during service, and it was clear why this place has the reputation it does. I'd love to come back and try the prix fixe tasting menu next time. Overall this was a great experience from start to finish. And a must stop or destination when driving through KY.

Just Hamburgers: Just okay…read more.. My cousin and I dropped by Just Hamburgers for a late lunch, lured in by the name and the promise of--well, hamburgers. Naturally, we expected a lineup of mouthwatering burger options. Plot twist: the menu was as barebones as it gets. Think "hamburgers or hot dogs" with little to no personality. No signature sauces, no quirky creations--just vibes and buns. I stepped up to order and was immediately thrown into a conversation about my shirt. (Fashion critique wasn't on the menu, but sure.) I asked about the burger size, and was told--deadpan--they're "flat." Well, that clears that up. Eventually, I was informed that a double is "about the size of a quarter pounder." Cool, I guess? I ordered a burger with mayo and chili, to which the guy replied, "That's odd, but okay." Look, either make it the way I like it or lock the doors, buddy--because this wasn't shaping up to be a five-star first impression. When my food was handed over in a paper bag with zero inquiry about dine-in or takeout, we just sat down at a dirty table and unwrapped our meal. What awaited me was the burger equivalent of déjà vu--basically a McDonald's cheeseburger in witness protection. To be fair, the food was fresh and hot. But the flavor? Aggressively average. We even debated swinging by a drive-thru afterward just to feel something again. That said, I'll give them this: it was oddly refreshing to see they serve real all-beef franks. A small win in a sea of "meh." Bottom line: If I'm nearby and need a snack, I might circle back. But I won't be making a pilgrimage for this one.
