Was really looking forward to trying after all the good yelp reviews............ May have to try again in a few months but today was not impressed........ Moldy lettuce on my salad. Hash brown casserole was not really edible nor was my side of cabbage , was greasy and undercooked....... idk it is past its prime for sure needs new seating and carpet........... sandwich and fries was so so . This place is hometown happiness on a plate. Great coffee, good service, great food, and cool atmosphere. Ate brunch here after starting driving from Atlanta to Paducah (KY) at 5am, so it was high refuel time for me. The inside is super cute and spunky with purchase-able art work on the wall with sassy sayings. I was seated upstairs. It was a good combination of homey without being dirty. I got coffee, which was excellent (two cups) and the chicken waffle egg-benny, which was definitely two large fluffy portions. I loved the gooey-ness of the dish, with the hollandaise sauce just right (my favorite sauce). The food came quickly. The waitress was really nice and checked on the three upstairs tables often (there was a tight flight of stairs headed up there so yay for her morning workout routine). The locale is a tight space, so if you come with a group it's going to be a bit tight - one of the few benefits of traveling by yourself. All in all, everything you want in a place like this. I routinely overheard the waitstaff saying hello to the regulars, quickly catching up without neglecting any of the other guests. If driving through Paducah, definitely stop here to refuel. read more

Waitresses were wonderful and stayed on top of filling drinks. Breakfast food was great! But had to wait over an hour for it. What could take so long with breakfast food? It's eggs and pancakes! My food came out quite awhile after the other 4 ppl I was dining with so you would think maybe it was b/c they were cleaning the grill from making lunch options- guess not!! The only saving grace was the packaged apple butter and their somewhat fresh lemon wedges b/c the 'sugar free' syrup is suspect at best. This is the best breakfast I've had since Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Louisville closed. Wow! I've lived in Paducah for years and never been by here! The specialty seems to be the omelets, I had the Gold Rush omelet, my wife had the Meatloaf omelet. I think mine was a little better! It was tomatoes, green onions, bacon, and this wonderful garlic cheese spread. Super! The meatloaf omelet was topped with jalapeños & barbecue sauce, also very good. The hasbrowns and home fries were both good, but aren't they pretty good everywhere? The biscuit that came with mine was huge, I can imagine that biucuits and gravy is something pretty magical. Had breakfast of fried eggs, bacon and hashbrowns with coffee. Food was mediocre. Hashbrowns were not seasoned at all. Over medium eggs were cooked almost perfectly. Bacon was limp and undercooked a bit for my taste but I feel like most folks don't like their bacon crispy. Coffee was fine and hot... They did offer half and half which is nice. Hate when places only have creamer (oil). Decent quick, hot breakfast. Nothing spectacular which really isn't fair to the restaurant. They had some nice looking omelettes and and skillet breakfasts on the menu but I wasn't hungry enough to try them. I'd certainly come back for breakfast. read more

Visiting family in town and saw this place on yelp so we thought we would give it a try. Man I'm glad we did. My boyfriend and I each got the breakfast that had a little of everything. I subbed bread pudding waffles instead of regular waffles I think it was. Wow most everything was incredible. The bacon was perfect. Next time I will skip on the biscuits and gravy and the sausage links... they weren't really that great. The ambiance is cute. Wish we had more diners like this with good food where I'm from. We split the Chicken Waffle Benny made with two really yummy mini waffles, chicken tenders, two eggs and the most delicious brown butter hollandaise. I make good hollandaise, but this stuff is levels above. We also indulged in the bread pudding waffles with bacon and apples. Oh. My. Goodness. Outstanding. And the coffee is good too. Called ahead for seating, hostess got us right in when we got there- that was great. Prompt service from waitress- attentive. However... ordered waffles- received pancakes. Eggs were undercooked- yolk running versus over medium. Cold biscuits. Burnt has brown casserole. Cheese on top of the Calamity Jane was fresh out of the fridge. We stopped here on our way thru to St. Louis. It was so cute and quaint. The food was amazing and large portions. My son and I had the waffles, my husband had the bacon jam burger and my daughter had chicken fingers with Mac And cheese. Gold Rush Cafe is cute, if kitschy, but not overdone. The menu is extensive and varied; so many things I wanted to try. But all the glowing reviews point to breakfast items. So we decided try some of the reviewers' favorites. The waitress was charming, friendly, helpful, and efficient. Of course she brought my coffee before the food arrived. There was sugar on the table, but in place of cream was a saucer with single serving containers of various flavored artificial creamers. I avoid imitation food, so I flagged down the waitress and asked if she might bring some cream. She indicated toward the imitation creamers on the table. I said, no, I wanted real cream. She said they had no cream, but after some thought, offered that they have 2% milk. Homogenized? No, just 2%. Okay, that will do. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that a restaurant that, no doubt, serves gallons of coffee daily, plus espresso drinks, would not have any cream in the house. The food came shortly, and we found it to be satisfactory. But the shadow cast by their failure to have real cream in the restaurant made us wonder how much of our food was made from substitutes. That scotch egg saved our breakfast. This spot seemed to be the only place open in downtown Paducah on a Sunday morning, so we gave it a try. It is very....basic. However, on the advice of other Yelpers, we ordered the scotch egg and it was delicious. And their coffee was super good. But everything else was really mediocre (pancakes, eggs, etc.). They only have margarine, no butter, that sort of thing. But our server was super sweet. Just stick with the scotch egg and coffee and you are set. read more
