Excellent brewery tucked away in Johns island! It's a bit of a drive from downtown charleston, but it's worth the drive for a trendy, quiet place with great beer. This place is such a cool venue with both beer and coffee options, both of which are top notch. I really enjoy this spot. I have been a couple of times now - nice variety of beer selections, but they have coffee....which is always going to be my preference. Staff has been friendly, they allow you to sample things before committing to anything. They have cans you can purchase to take home, also. Stopped in on a motorcycle ride looking for a coffee. I saw they had a seasonal selection so I tried the Spice & Chill Latte (pumpkin spice + hazelnut). Also saw an apple muffin so I got one of those too. Coffee was very very very good, nice smooth flavor, rich, creamy, not bitter sickly sweet. Really loved it! Bartender/barista was friendly and the coffee was made quick. Apple muffin was good, not dripping in butter/oil and had chunks of apple in it. There was a band playing outside too, which was nice. So why four stars and not five? Well... hate to say it... but there's some pretty inconsiderate customers here hurting the experience. The place is kid and dog friendly, in and of itself that's cool. I've got 3 kids of my own, and I've had dogs over the years too. But there's is one absolutely unbreakable rule of allowing dogs, and that's that they have to be on a leash. And to EB&B's credit, they do have a policy about dogs being on a leash (nothing about kids being on a leash thankfully lol). But when I walked up, what happened? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some clown's dogs ran up on me, off leash. Were they aggressive? No. But it should not have happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And there's enough staff here back and forth to be aware of it. While I was not personally hurt by it, if I was afraid of dogs, or not in the mood, or misinterpreted the dog's eagerness to say hello for aggression, it could have gone poorly. This is precisely why places (and common sense AND common courtesy) require dogs to be on a leash. Cruising through John's Island and exploring all the new spots that have opened, that I'd been 'meaning to get to', this being on my list. I love coffee, but not much on all the additions of flavor to coffee.. I just want coffee! My niece, however, enjoys a mix occasionally...so a perfect spot to try... The first item that piqued my interest was the honey lavender coffee..so I waffled, but decided to throw caution and give it a try. It was delicious and delicate in flavor ! This was a great addition to the Johns Island food and bev scene. The outside area alone warrants its 5 star rating. It is extremely dog friendly, welcoming dogs inside and out. Lots of seating, fire pits, and a stage for live performances. The only beers I get there are the sours, but they are definitely some of the best in the city. The Capt. Tang is my go to. Came here to enjoy a Sunday funday with our in laws since we are making a bigger effort to enjoy spots on Johns Island! I love that they brew coffee and beer, but also have plenty of craft cocktail options! They don't serve flights but they do 5 oz pours which was just as good. You won't lose whether you sit inside or outside because both are so charming and spacious. I want to love this place because the ambiance & space is so beautiful, but I've had several visits here that left a sour taste in my mouth (and not because of Captain Tang - our favorite sour beer)! On a few occasions I felt as though I was bothering the staff when ordering & didn't get super warm or friendly vibes. We also came for music bingo only to be left hanging by the bartenders who, upon learning that the host had canceled, never informed the 50+ guests sitting there waiting for it to start. Also love that I can come and grab a coffee in the morning and bring my laptop to do some work (nice change of scenery from my home office every once in a while). This was our second visit here, and both times we enjoyed ourselves. Estuary offers a great night out, with many seasonal beers brewed on site. They also offer some interesting beer cocktails, but I haven't tried any of those yet. The staff are great and will let you try samples of different options to find out what's right for you. They have a huge patio with shade for the day and is well lit for the evenings. There are also plenty of merch options, from mugs to tshirts and hats.
