Just pulled in the garage with my new 2014 HD Street Glide Special!
    Derek K.

First off I want to start this review by clarifying between surdyke.com and this dealership's website surdykeharley.com. All of the negative reviews that you read are from individuals that have dealt with surdyke.com (an internet sales sight only without a storefront) and not surdykeharley.com the actual storefront dealership! They are two completely different entities. Yesterday I purchased 2014 HD Street Glide Special from JC. JC was very knowledgeable when it came to the bikes, and made the buying experience that much better! Not to mention he kept our 2 little girls laughing and entertained while my wife and I were in the finance office. Moving over to service, I met Joe or "Joe Cap" as they call him! He went over the bike with me front to back and top to bottom! Most dealers want to hurry up and usher you out the door... Not this guy! Very informative and helpful! I definitely will make the 70 mile trip back here to have him and the service team work on the bike! We all know what the worst part of buying a vehicle is. Right? Yep! The finance office! Well, I had the pleasure of doing business with Dirk in finance, and all I can say is WOW! No pressure, on top of his game, and very friendly! Once again, not trying to usher you out the door! (Are you noticing a trend?) Taking time and being genuine about everything! We also met Lee the "Chrome Expert"! He added to the buying experience by pointing out some very relevant safety items, which we took advantage of! The LED light that we bought from his department is far superior to that of a halogen bulb!! We are very impressed! Tonya in motor clothes was also very helpful and got my wife excited about some of the new clothing that is coming out! And a huge thank you to Jennifer for playing hide and seek with our girls and keeping them occupied while we did the paperwork! You helped my wife keep her sanity! Overall I would rate this dealer on a scale of 1-10 a 10+++! They definitely know how to treat their customers, and make them feel welcome! I have purchased many vehicles and bikes in my life, and I have to say Surdyke Harley Davidson provided the best overall experience I have ever had! And to the GM, my wife says thanks for the shirt! Great Job! Derek Krause

Needed 2 screws to fit an HD windshield to my V-Rod. Placed an order for a pack of 2 (per their website) on June 18 for shipment by July 1. Called July 7 when my order status was not updated. Their parts department said "we'll look for it, it might be in a pile of parts somewhere. It's just a few screws, it might have gotten lost so if we can't find it we'll just refund you." Waited for an e-mail update I was told would come. Never came. Called back on July 8: "I left myself a note to look for it, I haven't looked for it yet. I'll send you an e-mail today for sure." No e-mail again. I call back on July 9, and they tell me that the $30 + $15 shipping that I paid for the pack of 2 that was advertised on their website was only for one screw, and that the screws were only sold in pairs and they would have to charge me for another. For those of you keeping score at home, that's $75 for a pair of screws. Instead of making up for their mistake and clear disregard for customer service by offering a discount, I was told "well, we can't lose money" after they ripped me for $15 on shipping a 2oz package from MO to NJ. I am now getting a refund a month after my purchase. Don't buy parts from Gold Star or Surdyke -- listen to the other reviews on here.

I like the store for mountain biking gear. But here's the deal - they don't really carry youth or…read morelittle kid helmets (5 year old size), nor does any other stores in the area, but their website does. So I ordered 4 to try on. This is for a four year old who has never worn a full face helmet, we needed to try a few. We went into the store and tried them when they came in, kept one and returned the others. We also bought one pair of gloves and one goggles, which we kept. I got reprimanded and warned for returning too many! Ok, I tried to do this the best way I could but if you're not going to carry that size in the store, this is how it has to work.i don't know what to say. I won't be using them again because, well, I've been warned. To the depths of the internet I go.

This year I bought my first motorcycle, it's a 49cc Honda Ruckus (a moped). I went here to find a…read moresafe helmet in stock and that fits well. I started at the south county store, they had a whole wall all the way up with helmets. The sales staff helped me choose a better helmet than what I had quickly researched beforehand. They didn't have the specific color I liked in stock so I went to the St. Charles store that day too, who had the other color in stock. Both stores were very nice stores, I bought something at each. Assuming this is a multi city chain it's on par with like a REI but for motorcycles. (Compliment!) Only feedback I would give the stores, is that my trips were pricey, customers might want to check competitor prices as they go and ask if the store will match.

I needed new tires on my scooter and didn't really know who offered that service. I called a…read morespecialty scooter shop who told me they could "probably do it but most times they end up taking the scooters to Donelson's for tire balancing". So I cut out the middle person and called Donelson's directly. They let me know they had been crazy busy but would order my tires and once they were in I could drop the scooter off and they would "work it in" to get the tires done. This may seem odd but some other places I called wanted me to drop my scooter off that day and let it sit til they could get to it - could be 4-6 weeks they said. Donelson told me it's prob be a week or so once the tires were in. They ordered the tires, called me and let me know. I dropped the scooter off and they had the replacement done in about 2 days. There was a snafu with the wrong tires being ordered and them needing to put a different set on (my fault as I provided the tire size). Even with that taking place it still only took them 2 days. I had paid in advance for the tires and we had to rework the bill due to the tire swapout, but even that was handled with grace and I paid the difference. They also performed an inspection for me while they had my scooter. Overall nice experience - especially compared to the run around I got from some other places when calling around. Reason I took off 1 star is noone there knows anything outside of their specific dept. So on 1 call they transferred me multiple times - from parts to inquire about the tires, then to service to find out how much service cost, then back to parts because I asked another tire related question, then back to service to talk about the inspection. It'd be nice if they were aware enough of each area to speak to it.

He found just the right bike for me and even allowed me to pay $50 a month until I was paid off and I had a few extra bells and whistles done to it. Great service got the bike all tuned up and I already made my inaugural run with my 19-year-old daughter. Pretty good for an old guy at 71.

They've brought me along so that I don't consider myself the 'crunch on the pedals,' inexperienced cyclist I was... The repair shop is efficient and reasonably priced for the quality of work done. They even have taken the time to show me a variety of things I can do on my own! All of the staff have certifications hanging in the shop & have been SAG on the local rides I've been a part of. (Which I am sure they would rather be riding in!) John, the owner, has a laid back demeanor and really spent a good amount of time with me before I purchased my bike. Rather than up-selling me more bike than I needed (or could afford) he assisted me in finding the right Trek for my needs. I am not a racer, and those days have passed me by - I just enjoy riding and put in from 20 to 60 miles on a normal day. As I was upgrading from a hybrid to a road bike, I cannot emphasize enough how happy I am that I made the move to the 'right' bike for me... I've found their accessories pricing to be equivalent with what you can find on-line as I use RedLaser to compare prices. I would rather support the local shop than ship from who knows where... If they don't have something in the store, they are happy to order it for you. I ended up with a bike rack for my car for less than I could find on-line, no extra cost for them to order it special for me. (Of course, I couldn't use the off the shelf, "one-size fits most," generic racks with my car!) The shop also has group rides, and they are great in keeping the group together at a pace that pushes you but doesn't kill you. I am quite sure that they are capable of maintaining a much faster pace, but they have tailored the rides around who shows up. While they won't offer advice unless asked for it, they have provided great tips and improved my skills each time I ask for input. I went in during one of the special national sales to replace my tires and shoes after a year of use, and rather than taking my money and giving me new stuff - they advised against it as all still had a good amount of life left in them! You can also find your Frisbee Golf needs here! Perfect for the course at Capaha Park. While the products they offer are high quality, the prices are reasonable, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, I think that the thing I hold in highest regard is their integrity.
