The Inn is a delightful place to relax, kick back, and enjoy. The warm hospitality by Bill, the owner, and his staff make you feel right at home. The individual rooms are nicely furnished with period pieces and set with antique heaters. Take a few minutes and explore the Great Room when you get the opportunity. It is filled with interesting pictures and even has a book showing the total renovation of the Inn. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruits, muffins, sausages, a poached egg on avocado toast and potatoes. The Inn itself is only a stone's throw from the lake and the sunset is absolutely gorgeous. Our first time at this historic 1920's Inn for our anniversary weekend. Our room was perfectly appointed. Bed was comfortable and had a really neat fireplace. Too hot to use it but it added ambience. They have a great staff that are always trying to engage you and make you feel at home. Every morning we were served a nice breakfast. Wine in the evenings and homemade cookies and popcorn at night. We loved just sitting in the courtyard and talking. The inn is just steps from the beach and a short drive to everything Harbor Country has to offer. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was consistently helpful, friendly and anxious to be accomodating from the very first moment we arrived. The lobby and our Larkspur room were both beautiful, and the location is very close to a lovely beach. Also close to a nice shop where you can get a cappuccino, sandwiches for lunch, etc. The Inn's offering of towels, an umbrella and beach chairs was a cut above what some other places offer. Our caveats that would make this a 4.5 star (which Yelp didn't offer) was that the breakfast was so-so (commercial muffins, juice and fruit), perhaps because we were there after Labor Day. Pillows in the room had also seen better days. But those were quibbles. This was a memorable and enjoyable romantic getaway, and we would return. read more

Had a horrible experience with one of the staff members today who was an older lady . We were parking outside in public spot. She pulled up in her blue suv and told us we couldnt park there and that it was inn parking only. We told her no that small lot right there with the sign that says "inn parking" is for the inn. The road is public. She continued to bully and harass my family and tell us that that whole side of the street was for the inn. Again we told her there were no signs stating that. She then said we were parking too close to the lot and we had to move. Again we said no we are far enough away and we arent moving out car. She said a cop would be by to write us a $50 ticket. The cop came by and said that we were in a public spot and were ok to park there. The employee of this inn lied, harassed and bullied us to get us to leave. She drives a blue mini van with handicap tags. She is a very bad look for the business. read more

Walking distance to the beach (though I went in the winter), walking distance to some eateries, and a short drive to the wine vineyards. But that is not the only thing that makes this Inn perfect for a getaway. The Inn at Union Pier is a romantic and magical place where you can relax and reconnect. From check in to check out, everything was perfect! The inn is right across the street from the beach and centrally located to restaurants, breweries and wineries in the area. We purchased a Living Social Deal and went for a spring break weekend getaway. We stayed in Idylls of a Author, which was spacious, as there was a sunporch and daybed attached to the room. The fireplace was a nice touch, though it was warm enough in March that we ended up not needing it. Room was kept clean every day and fresh towels were just a request away. The best part about the inn is the breakfast! Two course breakfast every morning. Morning #1: Fresh muffins, juice, yogurt parfait and waffles and sausage. Morning #2: Fresh muffins, juice, blueberry cobbler, and eggs benedict and hashbrowns. Just don't ask for seconds as they are not apt to provide them. We were told "No extra sausages" one morning. However, coffee, tea and cookies are available all day. In the evening, there is a popcorn/wine happy hour, where you can meet some of the other guests. We actually ended up going to dinner with some other guests from the inn we met one evening! As far as things to do, there aren't any TVs in the rooms, but the Great Room has a bunch of games and chess set. There's also a fabulous and clean jacuzzi (only complaint--it closes at 11pm). But the beach is also right across the street! All in all, a wonderful experience! If they run the LivingSocial deal again, we will definitely be back! read more

So lovely! Was exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway bed & breakfast. The inn keepers were friendly and knowledgeable, without getting in your business. Breakfast both days was delicious! There are these tiny fire places (I don't remember what they're called) in every room - no TVs though. We went in the winter and the hot tub was up and running (was especially awesome when it was snowing). There were lots of games to play in the main house. Homemade cookies, lots of coffee & teas. The Living Social deal is what initially brought us here, but I think we'll probably be coming back without it another time. I'll start with the positives, then explain my 3 star rating. We reserved The Chardonnay Room and The Garden View Suite for a girls weekend getaway. The Inn was in close proximity to the beach, and the room and suite were both very nice. Breakfast both mornings was pretty good, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hot tub was clean, and although we didn't use them, it was nice to have bikes available if we wanted to go for a ride. We did take advantage of using a couple of the Inn's beach chairs for the day we spent at the lake. The Garden View Suite was very spacious, had a lovely porch balcony, and and a great kitchen area. There are 2 reasons for my rating. When you enter the Inn, there is an odd odor that takes away from the overall setting and atmosphere. We never could put our finger on what the odor was, but we really wanted to go buy some plug-ins with a nice smelling scent to try and help with the odor! The second reason for the 3 stars is that The Garden View Suite was VERY warm. We spoke with the front desk several times, and was assured that they had the thermostat set on 66, but our Suite felt more like 86 for a large part of our weekend stay! Thank goodness the outside temps were a little cooler that weekend, because if it had been 90 plus degrees outside, I can't even imagine how smoldering hot our accommodations would've been. When we talked to them about it, they knew it was an issue, but they have yet to do anything about it. Before booking this Suite in the summer, I highly recommend finding out if they've taken care of that issue. If we hadn't had that problem, I would've given them 4 stars, and if they corrected that AND the odor when you enter the Inn, then I'd give them 5. read more

I wrote a review right after our stay in September 2014 and now it is gone. Hummmm. We stayed with our entire family for my nephew's wedding weekend. I had arranged to have a few special items for a brunch on Saturday and went over all the details with Bill. All set. There was also a larger brunch scheduled for Sunday but mine was for just the Inn's guests. On Saturday morning, no such brunch and no mention that it would not happen. I did not want to make a scene so when I saw Bill later in the day, I asked why none of the items we spoke about and agreed to were there. He decided that the brunch on Sunday was more important and so just dismissed my plans, no asking, no telling, just his decision. I WOULD NEVER SUPPORT A MAN LIKE THAT AND HOPE YOU WHO ARE READING THIS AGREE. Who was he to decide what was important and why not tell me??? read more

The good: the people were nice and breakfast was good. The not so good: The reason we decided to go here was that we wanted a room with a fireplace and a balcony to sit on. The room did indeed have both of these. However ... the fireplace was not functional and there was an odor outside our balcony that I can only describe as a fart like smell. It never seemed to leave. Not pleasant. As for the room, the bed was small and the room seemed dated. It could use updating. We also felt the place was over-priced for what it is. We paid $206 a night and would say its more like a $140 a night place. read more

Stayed here for a weekend getaway as a company retreat. Arrived Friday night and left Sunday after breakfast. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. As soon as we got checked in they gave us a tour of the main house including the kitchen and the room we would be staying in. Each room contains a wood burning Swedish fireplace that they show you how to operate. We stayed the first weekend in December and had a room on the second floor and didn't even touch the fireplace. We actually cracked our door open to our room a few times because the house was well heated as is. Food that was served for both breakfast and dinner was really good, presentation was excellent for both services. The room was very clean and they provided us fresh towels and made the bed while we were at breakfast. I highly recommend a weekend here. read more

Bed and furnishings were great, bathroom updated, super clean. Walk to the beach in 30 seconds. The breakfast was very good both days we were there. Super friendly and professional owners. Inn was pleasant - had a little "wet" smell - but that was maybe beause of the recent heavy rains. Room was OKay - bed was good - but there was not one comfortable chair to sit it. The real issue was that I left my kindle charger in the room. They were great and called me immediately. HOWEVER - she waited over a week to mail it back, and the mailed it regular mail (even though I told her to charge it to my credit card). Haven't received it yet - I'm pretty unhappy!! read more

Loved this place. Found it on Livingsocial and because of the great reviews decided to give the two night stay a try. We were there from the 1st-3rd of January and the staff was just so darn friendly. The newly renovated rooms were gorgeous, spacious, and surprisingly warm! The only thing I would suggest is to invest in some blinds because the windows are pretty see through. The popcorn and wine happy hour was amazing and we met some wonderfully nice folks. The only downfall I would say is that dinner that came with our reservation complementary was advertised as a "free meal" at Timothy's. When we got there we were told it basically meant we had a 10 dollar off coupon per person to be used on whatever if we didn't care for their special 10 dollar meal menu. Well we ordered some of the more expensive items and I must say I was truly disappointed with the restaurant. Some of the other guests were talking about other places nearby that were delicious and more cost friendly, perhaps they should switch the restaurant they include with the deal!
