It pains me to write this review, because the location is charming, the indoor/outdoor old school burger joint charm is there... the staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. The fries (we tried both the regular and curly fries) were perfection, their aioli was superb, and their niche soft drinks were very good... everything that supports a great burger joint is here! However the burgers were lacking... and I can't tell you what a disappointment that was. The key to a great smashburger is the patty, and this is where it fell down. Overcooked, under seasoned, and just a disappointment all around... the balance was off. In my experience a great smashburger has a juicy, well seasoned, patty with a sauce where the fat needs the pickles and onions to cut through it... it all comes together in a wonderful combination on your palate. Unfortunately our experience here was that the burger was lackluster and bland... using the aioli on the burger in place of the traditional burger sauce should have been an exciting up level of your standard smashburger, however in this case it just didn't work. Finally tried Goldburger! The drive through was busy, the inside was full. The staff were really nice and patient. We had to wait for a table and as soon as the previous people left, the team started cleaning tables and made way for new customers. It was nice that they were so mindful of the dining room. I heard about this place through IG, so I decided to come by and check it out. I tried the Goldburger, which is their bestselling burger. It was tasty, with 2 very juicy large patties, cheese, pickles, special sauce and a lot of grilled onions, with some smashed into the patties and some just being outside. Overall, a good, big burger. The customer service was excellent and the ambience and design remind you of a good old-school 70's diner, with light blue color being the dominating color in the design. Ahh the successor to the good ol' Frosty Queen. While it doesn't replace the nostalgia of the Queen, it more makes it up with pretty darn good smash burger. The Goldburger gets it right with the most important component of a burger which is the patty. It had the right amount of saltiness, savoriness, and crispiness that makes for a tasty smash burger. We tried this spot last night and we ordered the California smash burger with curly fries and vanilla shake + a patty melt with sparkling lemonade. Everything was good and we ate the whole thing! We must've missed the opening, despite driving past on the regular, eagerly awaiting the unveiling. Today, as we were driving past, yet again, I saw people inside and hit the breaks! How many times have buildings been shuttered in the last 5 years and sat empty and sad and all we can do is sigh, shrug and accept the fate??? So, THANK YOU, Allen! (Now setting soap box aside, I continue with my review....) IT LOOKS STUNNING!!!! To actually be able to sit inside and relax in a/c or, for those who prefer SFV hot al fresco days, sitting in the shade with your choice of NINE TABLES??? Where did all this space come from??? Plenty of seating - CHECK! Menu: Streamlined, simple. Honestly, the previous Frosty Queen menu was a bit much. Greek, Mexican, breakfast, burgers, soft serve treats.... What we have now are simple smash burgers (or Veggieburger), hot dog - as long as the Dodgers continue to win, maybe???, grilled cheese, pastrami, fries, fountain and yes, soft serve (be it cup, cone, shake or float). Other locations may have pie, but they don't have the soft serve we grew up with in GH! So, since we were just passing by, and a liiiiitle peckish, but not fully hungry, we tried the grilled cheese and Hubs got a chocolate shake - natch. The sandwich, Swiss and American on Bub and Grandma's Bread, with some pickles on the side for good measure, was a perfect share snack. warm, gooey, delicious bread and only $7! While the shake was not the same size as the aforementioned Queen's, it was chocolatey and satisfying and on par with Hub's other faves, $8. The service was fast and friendly, welcoming and there was a steady stream of locals popping in to grab a bite or a frosty treat on this hot October day. The MCM decor is well done and thoughtful, with nods to chefs who either inspire Allen or are iconic to LA - or both! And a few fun caricatures of chefs, celebs and famous foodies. All that being said, let me gently remind the staff of a golden rule in business: If you got time to lean, you got time to clean. This is serious when it comes to food service. The tables could've used more attention and cleanliness is next to...well, you know - or, should! Was it horribly messy? No, but this is a beautiful, brand new dining area so it doesn't take much to look unkempt. A few times of not caring or vigilance lacking and people will translate that to food prep and pride of product. I'd love to see this Goldburgers location - the most beautiful of them all IMO - stay looking beautiful and a joy to visit. Who says you can't go home? I initially thought I wouldn't like the place, but I ended up really enjoying the food here. Parking: There's plenty of street parking, and they also offer a drive-through. It's similar to In-N-Out but with much better quality and no lines. Food: Goldburger truly sets the gold standard for smashed burgers. I was amazed by how flavorful it was. I ordered the California Classic without cheese, and the burger was cooked to perfection in my opinion. The patties were thin with extra crispy edges. Even the fries were delicious--I'd say the curly fries are better than the regular ones here. Was looking for a good smash burger and well found this new spot in Granada hills. I will say the meat was nice and crunchy on the outside and inside was just the right texture. Flavor wise I give it a 7/10 and well the portion size is a bit more than usual smash burgers and always a plus. Fries are nice amount as well, a bit salty tho. The food is made to order and I think food made fresh and hot on arrival tastes the best. They have burgers, sandwiches, fries, and shakes/drinks. Their in house made sauces are great! There is a small parking lot near drive thru! Food was wonderful I took off one star because they gave me the wrong order I was given food I didn't order but by the time I realized I didn't want to turn back! After eating the food I was giving its safe to say that anything you get here will taste good! We got the Americana Burger, Patty Melt, and curly fries. Unfortunately, none of them were things i would come back for. Both the Americana Burger and Patty Melt are a 7/10. They have a good crust on the patties and a nice toast on the bread, but there isn't enough umami flavor to make me crave them. The curly fries tasted like Jack in The Box curly fries, which is both a good and a bad thing, 6/10. The only standout here is the customer service. All employees are kind and helpful. This is quite uncommon and very much welcomed but, the food, the main reason I'm there, was NOT able to keep up. This new spot took over the old place that sold burgers and burritos. I like how the menu is short and simple, similar to in n out Environment: limited parking in the back, about 6 spots but plenty of street parking. They kept the seating out front with about 10 tables and they also opened seating inside. Has a couple of seats at the bar like a diner and a few tables inside. There's a restroom inside. The service was good, the people were kind and kept clean. There's only one register so the line gets long quickly, you order and they give you the thing that buzzes when the food is done. Our food only took 7 minutes to come out. California burger: 3/5 it was good but nothing special and a bit dry. Kids gold burger: 5/5 the most popular gold burger had really good onions in it. Spicy ranch: it was okay, a little spicy nothing special Russian sauce: 0/5 it was not our favorite, it was like horseradish with thousand island sauce, very vinegary. Not very good. Regular fries: 3/5 could use better seasonings Pomegranate soda: 4/5 taste like a Shirley temple It's pretty pricy but it is Granada so nothing is cheap anymore. Went to Goldburgers yesterday for takeout. The wait wasn't bad, and you can tell they're still working out some opening-week kinks. We ordered two Goldburgers along with both curly and regular fries. The burgers were excellent. One of the better smash burgers I've had, with those crispy edges. Both kinds of fries were also great, though I think everything probably would've been even better eaten fresh on-site. Overall, a really solid experience, especially considering it's opening week and they're still ironing things out. Happy to have Goldburger in the valley. I've been to their Los Feliz one so it was by chance that I found out they opened up here in the 818 approximately 6 months ago. Now is it pricey, yeah you can say so if you compare it to In-N-Out but what Goldburger provides is a different type of burger experience. The burgers are smashed and crisp and distinct. The fries here are cooked very crisp but it's a tad too salty and they should adjust the Lawry salt down. Otherwise the very idea that Goldburger is here in Granada Hills is a very cool addition to the block. First of all, I didn't know until today that there are other Goldburger locations - at least one other. This location was a much loved Frosty Queen but that's now ancient history. Goldburger specializes in smash burgers which are different than the pre formed patties that more traditional burger joints have. I ordered the basic Goldburger which comes with cheese, grilled onions and a great burger sauce. Fries were excellent as well. The price is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I'd say their prices are about a couple of bucks more than Habit and roughly the same as Shake Shack or The Stand. Hamburgers are no longer cheap, so I eat them less frequently than I used to, but you can take my hamburger when you pry it from my cold dead fingers Definitely recommended and I would come back in a heartbeat read more

We love Gold Burger. I got the kids cheeseburger and it was the perfect size for me. I'm very picky with burgers and usually only eat In-N-Out or smash-style burgers because I don't like a thick, beefy taste. My boyfriend is not a huge onion fan but he actually enjoyed the grilled onions! The sauce was a 10/10. It's a spicy ranch that isn't overpowering (like most places that smother the burger in sauce). GB you have very big shoes to fill replacing our beloved Frosty Queen. I like the upgraded interior with seating and AC. If you're not going stock menu items appropriately, it would be a good idea to put signs up on the menu indicating "sold out" or in the event your Shake machine is mysteriously "broken" so people like me don't wait in line for 15-20 min to find out what I want isn't available. Today there were no shakes, no bread for patty melts, and no pastrami. At one point they even ran out of regular cups and had to give a guy a partially filled large cup because they were too cheap to fill it up the extra inch- (that was tacky). You also need a fan above the door to keep the insects out: we had a fly bothering us whilst we ate. Bottom line, the food was expensive and basic. Be prepared to wait a very long time to order and to get your food because the online orders come faster than the guy at the register can take. The interior is clean, though if there's a loud group inside, the noise carries. Food: I ordered the Goldburger combo for my first visit (about $20+). The burger looked great with a classic smashed burger presentation, but that's where the excitement ended. The beef had chewy bits that ruined the bite. The grilled onions were stringy and hard to break apart. The bottom bun was dry and crumbly, and fell apart halfway through the burger. The sauce tasted like salty mayo mixed with deli mustard--no real punch or depth of flavor. On the bright side, the fries were excellent--crispy, well-seasoned, and generous enough to share. The soft drink is refillable, but you have to request it at the counter. Service: The staff was great--friendly and attentive, which helped balance out the food experience. Been waiting to try this, and finally went last night. Love that they kept the building as similar as possible including the drive through as an ode to FQ. I feel like I've done all the big and popular smash burgers in LA at this point, and this was probably my second favorite. I got the original, which was great. What I specifically like is every place that's doing a smash burger is essentially doing their rendering of their own in and out spread, so all of them have a similar taste profile. This one however had a totally different sauce (mustard aioli I believe) so it actually made it different and stand out. This was also the crispiest edge smash I've ever had. (Yesterday drive through around 7pm) I'm also a HUGE soft serve person, me and my boyfriend get it quite often and never turn one down anywhere. I see it's also made with dairy from straus. However we did NOT get one. The main complaint I've heard people saying about this place is their pricing, and I'd have to agree. Because that's what stopped us from getting cones for like the first time ever lol. We already spent $40 on burgers on a whim, so an additional $12 for TWO soft serve cones just seemed insane tbh, $6 is unfortunately way too high and may be the most expensive I've seen yet, so although it's a hard smash for me normally to get soft serve I did avoid it because that's just insane imo. Also made my own fries at home so didn't get to try theirs, again mainly because of the very high price point, and did not get any extra sauces to try also because of the price (normally when going to a new place I happily pay for all their different sauces to try) but at .90 per sauce, that was pretty much double the normal sauce pricing of everywhere. Really liked it and will still regard it as my second fav smash so far, due to the quality, the uniqueness of the sauce and the service. But wish I was able to / willing to try everything as I normally would at a new place, but the price point issue that most people in the community are mentioning, was definitely true a deterrent to get any more items and to seriously limit my frequency of coming back. I live in Granada Hill and have been enjoying Frosty Queen at this location until it closed in 2025, unfortunately it closed for whatever reason. Now what took the place is Goldberger, high price burgers with only lettuce and pickles, where's the beef? Paper thin salty as he'll pattie and they cant even add a tomato to the burger? WTH! High prices low quality overly salted, shakes are watery, whats going on? Won't be coming back! read more
