Can't make payments with a debit card over the phone in 2026 for a car payment is crazy. Also it's very difficult to find any account information including acct number because you do not provide any of that online or in the mail. Please get it together you make it extremely difficult to pay outside of direct routing/acct numbers. read more

Golden 1 had a high rate yield CD last year. I opened an account online and was approved. Luckily I opened an account with $10 in my checking and savings. A week later get a letter from Golden saying I needed to come in and verify my identity. I called to make an appointment and they said they couldn't find my account. I asked if they could just send my opening deposit back and I'll be on my way. They refused saying they don't know if im the actual account holder so they won't send anything back and my account doesn't show on their end. Yet when I checked my current checking account it says "etf debited by Golden 1". The employee wouldn't even provide me with a confirmation of my account actually being closed. This bank is the biggest thief in LA. Please avoid at all cost. read more

This bank is absolutely terrible. The worse customer service I've ever had and the "policies and procedures" are absolutely terrible. I would NEVER recommend this bank to anyone and once my family and I get everything situated we will be taking our car loan somewhere else. The representatives are condescending and rude, if you ask for a manager it takes 24-48 hours for a call back and that's only IF you get a call back. This bank sucks! Not even my bank, thank goodness. I came into this branch to finalize a loan and they honestly can't get their together. It's such a headache to finalize a loan with them. As i was waiting one guy was waiting to open an account I was so close to telling the guy 'Don't do it, run.' It is difficult to just book an appointment on the phone because it keeps asking what your acct# is and i'm like i don't have one! ‍ Signed docs and they still messed up so i had to go in again to sign docs they missed the first time. Then i get mailed the docs they missed and asked me to sign it and return mail back with signatures even though i just signed in the branch. It's ridiculous, no one there wants to take accountability for messing up people who work there just blame their colleagues that they dropped the ball. Not for any branch in particular... This is for their Mobile App and website. These are the WORST I have ever dealt with. Over 10 times tried to make an online account to pay on my new car note. It could not verify me. Then called a Rep she made a login for me and it still would not let me. And she tried to change it like 3 times. Finally.. I'm in. I enter my bank info and tried to make a payment ... wouldn't let me could not verify me. UUUggghhh! Third call to customer service cause my account said it was on hold.. I JUST CREATED IT!!! DO NOT BANK!!!!! long story short we have an auto loan w them and a representative from their call center in Sacramento, KENDRA & DANIEL accused my husband of impersonating me (his WIFE). Put a hold on my account and only way to resolve is if I go down to the branch in Ontario which is an HOUR away for me. I asked him if I lived in San Diego would you make me drive 3 hours to ur closest branch. He said yes and he has done that before. Terrible place. Waited in the lobby for twenty minutes while two girls were on their computers. They said they'd be right with us then proceeded to make us wait. After twenty minutes we approached them and they said "oh, we can help you now". Absolutely ridiculous, only came to be added on as a beneficiary and a 10 minute task took 45 mins. From the credit union standpoint, they do fine work. Apparently there are only two branches in SoCal but the Los Angeles location is closed. read more

I've been a loyal member since 1987. The customer service has gone down hill some since then. It's just becoming another credit union when before it was "The state employee" credit union. Everyone can join now and that's where the personal experience you once had has faltered. They don't know you by name anymore and that's a shame. read more

I've been a member for more than 10 years. This used to be a great bank, but in the last few years and even more so in the last few months their service offerings and customer service have dropped to unacceptable. I've tried everything to not go through the hassle of changing banks, but I am so fed up I can't stay anymore. I'll be honest, the customer service could be better at times, but just be intelligent enough to not go at the same time everybody else does. Even more importantly, once you get their online services down there is really no reason to ever visit a branch. I personally have always had a good experience and their rates are beyond amazing. Never pay any fees, even when I was struggling and over-drafting more than I care to admit, they have always taken care of me going on 15 years now. I will be a lifetime member without question. This place is trash. First off, I don't bank here. I came to sign docs. My friend is the customer here. Had a 2pm appointment for what should have been a 5 min doc signing. I literally saw the employee doing a tutorial on how to fill the docs. Am I upset the employee had no clue what they were doing? Nope. We're all rookies at some point...but doc prep should have been taken care of prior to us arriving. It's now 2:45pm...I'm typing this review as I sit here, knowing that I intend to be stuck here for another 30 minutes minimum. A) I never heard of Golden1. I'm a little disappointed to say the least. I have a 2pm appointment to sign loan docs. I understand due to covid and blah blah blah being on time for appointments is really important. However, I'm an hour and a 1/2 early. I was hoping the 3-4 signatures that are needed wouldn't take a long time. Mind you the place is empty. I'm sure someone could have taken me back. But it's okay. My fault which is why I didn't give 1 star. Also, I'm a new member. Just opened a checking savings and a personal loan (which was approved yesterday) 15k I've read the negative reviews and wanted to proceed with caution since there are so many options for credit unions out there but golden1 is amongst the top 10 as far as assets go. Not to sure how they rank in customer satisfaction and technology. Like I said. I can't blame them completely since I do have a 2pm appointment but I guess it gives me a little extra time to write this review since my drive is 45mins to home. I find it frustrating that being a member and verifying all information for a loan it is a nightmare trying to get an account number. Agents on the phone are completely clueless and make you verify all information only to say that I need to make sure my account is with them, so what are you verifying?? Don't go to this credit union the assistant manager named JUAN GUZMAN is an asshole he is seriously the worst I don't know how he's a manager today I went in to deposit cash and THEIR machine wasn't working so it took my money and my card. I walked inside to see if they can do something about it and he was literally being rude to me saying he was gonna do me the favor of giving me my card back but not my cash !!! The only reason I deposited was to make my car payment that's due today he didn't show any empathy basically laughed in front of other customers at me. Horrible experience and a complete waste of my time. After being ignored for an unacceptable amount of time, Christine Delgado (Member Relationship Specialist) finally asked if I needed help. She had to get up twice to go check with another incompetent, Cecilia Gibson. I will also venture to say that the Manager, Cecilia Gibson, is one of the most inept managers I've ever dealt with. She said she had worked at another credit union I'm also a member of before they fired her after moving her around from branch to branch for two years. I completely understood. I am an extremely busy person. Golden1 seemed like a good choice until I actually visited the branch. The Ontario branch is staffed with lazy nescient people. I guess I will stick with the 'big banks'. At least their staff is well-trained and helpful. read more

So far so good, been banking with them for close to 4 years now and I cannot recall any rudeness or inefficiencies, but then again I never come to the branch or ATM, I simply hate dealing with people or crowds :) I totally get the fact that there are circumstances where as you have to come in "physically" for document signing and I feel bad that there are those who felt they had to deal with "inefficiencies" or "rudeness" and I can empathize for those individuals because I have managed a call center for a number of years and yes customer service and professionalism is key in any industry. We as the society need to face the reality that technology is here to stay and is ever so increasing in every industry you can possibly think of. The only suggestion I can make for those who do not care to deal with rudeness or (what they perceive to be rudeness), is to go strictly online and/or download the app, it is super Rad \,,/, and the only thing you have to deal with is a swipe and/or a few key strokes and your good to go (Iphone12 pro max gets it done), and lets face it y'all does anybody really have time to to physically go to a branch these days?? Service is professional & always been helpful for me the times I've been here. Very appreciative to have this Golden 1 location where full service is provided as I live in Moreno Valley and when I have to come it's not too far, however wish they had one closer. The sister branch in Moreno Valley no longer does provides business for other credit Unions. I would love to see have another full service provider closer. Thank goodness we have a Riverside credit union where you can deposit and withdraw inside and of course there are sister credit unions where you can use the ATM. Juzst depends what you need.
