When I said I was planning to get my nose pierced in solidarity and to ease her nerves, they counseled me to do her piercing first, because sometimes seeing the process can add to nerves rather than ease them. I found this piercing studio on yelp and google, and decided to make the drive from the SGV over to Golden Age because of their rave reviews and it did not disappoint! Awesome shop with kind & helpful piercers. They have an affordable piercing price and then jewelry can go up based on material. I opted for white gold on my 2nd helix and Tragus piercings since I intended for them to be permanent pieces, so that was a good amount of $$$, but well worth. My piercer was Tyler! :) I booked via the Square app which was easy but down sizing is walk in okay! They will examine your piercings and confirm it's ready for downsizing or not too. Got my ears pierced a while back by the owner, Dee. She was such a delight. I'm so happy she did my piercing and I trust her for future piercings. She's not only super cool but also really sweet and makes sure you go out the door feeling more confident and happy! She is very precise which I love! She works with you to ensure you are happy with the placement and making sure the holes are symmetrical... we would discuss and re-do sharpie markings as many times to get it right! I did have a little nervousness but she totally eased my mind. It was such a great process with her, I was about to do another piercing with her on the whim haha! She's a cool cat. Their practice is VERY clean and professional. They know what they are doing here. I only come here from now on. The fee for getting pierced is cheap! I wish there wasn't a requirement to buy their jewelry and be able to use our own jewelry... I totally understand it is to ensure no risk of infection etc but since my piercing closed up, I just wanted the deed to get done you know? Despite this concern, they didn't rush me choosing my stud and I was assisted which I highly appreciate needing guidance. I do hope to see a wider range of jewelry styles/ designs to choose from! I love that they have flat back piercings because I've had issues with butterfly backs in my piercing (the butterfly got stuck in my piercing hole and it was a whole problem!) So when I discovered flat back piercings at this shop, I was blown away I didn't have to deal with the annoying butterfly backings getting easily removed.(Perhaps I'm late discovering these but oh well). Due to getting a bunch of MRI and other x-rays done, I had very little piercing wear and one of my ear's hole was half way closed. I called the shop about my disappointment and the front desk just told me to come in. My piercer Tyler was super awesome. Friendly, great convo, precise, trustworthy. I am such a baby when it comes to getting my ears pierced. Been wanting an upper helix for over a decade but too nervous. Finally did it and Trevor was amazing. Not only a wonderful human that kept me calm but a soft touch too. It barely hurt (well it does now lol but that's to be expected). Got 3 done. The top 2 and second from the bottom. I could have kept the price lower but I really wanted the gold star burst because I will leave that one in probably forever. Truly amazing!! Thank you Dee! I've been wanting to get my helix done for years now, and finally decided to go through with it--twice! I did a ton of research (and asked my friends where they got their great piercings) and found Golden Age--they did not disappoint. Dee was my piercer and she did a bang-up job! I'm a real perfectionist and I have to say she is just a true artist, nailed the placement to best suit my face and features. I am so so happy with it!! As for the studio, it's a super clean place. I wish I could keep my apartment this clean. Literally spotless. The piercing chairs are in separate rooms away from the main entrance, which I appreciated because I just didn't want to be all pierced in a chair in front of everyone. The studio is really set up for a good experience from a scientific standpoint too, from having sensory distractions like cool music and room scent (?) to nicely painted (lilac for me) walls. I was super nervous but Dee walked me through the whole process and was super cool about answering my many questions. All their piercing accoutrements are single use--packaged in sealed packs when they get to you, they sterilize all your jewelry before installation, gloves of course, etc. They also have a really extensive selection of beautiful jewelry. I've been here twice and had phenomenal service both times. Appointments have a $5 charge, but if you decide to get pierced here, it's $30 for the piercing fee which includes up to 4 my piercings, and any jewelry you get will have a $5 discount, since there's already a $5 charge to book the appointment. Their jewelry starts at $30 per piece, so if you get 4 piercings with their lowest priced jewelry options, you're looking at around $150 ($30 x 4 pieces of jewelry + $30 piercing fee). Occasionally, they run piercing fee specials - on my 2nd visit, the piercing fee was reduced to $10, which was pretty rad. On my first visit, Tyler pierced both of my 3rd lobes (4 pointed star and the little dot stud), the mid-helix (the tiger's eye sphere stud), and the upper helix (5 pointed star). He also helped me re-open my flat (Saturn stud) and my conch (moonstone stud), for six total pieces of jewelry. The only ones that hurt were the conch and the upper helix - everything else was essentially painless. Jules at the front, hyped me up and helped me pick out some gorgeous pieces, and I loved the way everything looked. They also offer to do a check-up a few weeks after to switch out stud backings as your piercing heals. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of the check-up because I ended up going out of town for a couple of months. On my second visit, I went just a day after an MRI, and my upper helix ended up a little angry when I put the jewelry back in. Thus, Jules recommended that I only get one daith piercing to allow my body to heal the helix and still have an ear to sleep on. This time, Jackie pierced my daith, and while I'm biased, I think she did a great job! I didn't feel the needle at all, but getting the ring in the piercing low-key almost took me out lol. That being said, I'd definitely do it again - it's absolutely my favorite piercing Anyway, I only have good things to say because I've only gotten good service from everyone here. Once my daith heals, I'll be back for more piercings - there's still real estate for more piercings on my right ear, and I want to get my daith pierced on the other side too read more
