I've used Hjalmar's business three times now, and he has been super helpful at finding solutions to our problems. First, our dishwasher had stopped draining at the end of the cycle, and it turned out that the motherboard was fried. He thought that was unusual and recommended that we should call an electrician for the outlet that the dishwasher was connected to. Recently had Hjalmar come out and help quote for a Samsung french door refrigerator repair where he came out the same day, patiently diagnosed my problem for free, quoted me the exact cost the repair would cost and helped order the necessary parts the same day. Had the cost of the parts been cheaper from Samsung I prob would have looked at doing more repairs but made the decision to just fix the main issue I was having with my refrigerator door. I really appreciated that the first main fix suggested might only be a short term fix due to him knowing how the unit was constructed and that there may be corrosion in the cooling tubes which were not cost effective to service. I've used them several times for my dryer. The 1st time was to fix my 10+ year old dryer. However, it stopped working twice since then for various reasons (belt, motor). It was even more convenient that the time I can book was within two hours from the time I was even looking. This is important because originally the water dispenser on my refrigerator was not working after I replace the filter. Furthermore, it appeared to have a slow dripping week from where the filter was at. Hjalmar called me after I booked the time and walked me through a quick way to troubleshoot without him having to come do a diagnostic which would've been timely for him and costly for me. Ultimately, the water line between the filter and the dispenser had frozen, and all I needed to do was empty the freezer and turn off the fridge for 2-3 hours. My fridge stopped working, and the freezer was cooling in overdrive. I went to Yelp and looked up appliance repair and the app prompted a blast inquiry and Golden Bay Tech responded and I was able to see available times for appointments and book one online. I was unsure of the cost and in a rush with time sensitive projects so I did not call for more info. The response generated within Yelp showed $150 estimate with the cost going to the repair. I asked Hjalmar about the cost when he came and he said it was going to be $295 to replace the thermostat, which was what stopped working. He was efficient, clean and professional, flexible as I was in an online workshop and had to push the time back by 30 min. He told me the repair is warrantied for 90 days. Today which is about 1.5 weeks after the repair I wanted to look up Frigidaire warranties on the fridge since it is 5 years old and I did not initially go that route due to ignorance, I am a renter, not the owner. On google when I typed in "Frigidaire warranty" an ad came up for Golden Bay Tech and it says 6 month labor warranty online. Perhaps I have a 6 month warranty per the internet information, a little confusing there. My fridge is working again and I am grateful. read more
