Not sure why he expected a different answer. He also complained that the job was "more work than he charged" and suggested it should have cost more. Highly recommend Jose! The light switch broke in our stove range hood from the 90s. All the other repair companies I contacted said that it couldn't be repaired. Jose came out and took a look and was then able to find a replacement switch. When he came to install it, it was a little too big, so he took it home and power sanded it. This the 2nd time Jose has helped us out with our appliance. Our Maytag dryer stopped working completely. I text Jose the day it went out and he came to check it on it the next day. He thought it could be the door switch and thankfully he told me to get the part off Amazon, overnight it and watch the YouTube video to do it ourself. He was trying to save us money. I don't recommend this business. Before calling them, I did extensive diagnostics on my dishwasher and even replaced the control board myself, but the issue persisted. When Jose arrived, I shared all of this context. After his own checks, he insisted the control board was still the problem and that the one I installed must have been defective. He recommended buying another board from a different vendor. I followed his advice, but the new board made no difference--the problem remained exactly the same. I live in Oakland. He told me he couldn't help me over the phone because he "doesn't come out here". Even though his yelp shows his service area completely extends over Oakland. Not to mention other yelp reviews that show he's helped other people in Oakland, including me 3 months ago (I checked my venmo and he came to help me before). But this time he just refuses to help me for some reason. Why did he suddenly decide to treat me this way? He did everything to dodge helping me this time. A few weeks back he referred me to another company because there was no room in his schedule. Ok sure thats fine, so I made an appointment with the other company but they were a no-show on the day of the appointment. So I called iTech back and that's when he finally gave me the line "I don't come out there". Our Kenmore dryer circuit board faulted about a month ago and I thought that I could get it repaired. Hmmm, silly me to think that a 20-year-old dryer could be repaired. The dryer was in good condition, but it would not start. Went to Yelp to check out the reviews for appliances repair person. Came upon Jose and saw the great reviews. Gave him a call and he responded right away, and we scheduled an appointment for the following week. Jose was very responsive he texted me that he was on his way to repair the dryer. He got to the house and was very nice. I show him our laundry room and he took apart the dryer and tested the circuit board and discovered that no power was going to the dryer. He got on his phone and searched for the circuit board and discovered that the part is no longer available. He told me that I have would have to get a new dryer. This process took only 30 minutes. Jose Fast forward month. My wife and daughter were cooking for Thanksgiving while I was watching football. My wife was using the Bosch microwave for her sweet potato's dishes. Next thing I know she said the microwave was not working. I ask her to check the power, and she said other appliances were working. I went downstairs to troubleshoot the problem and everything looked good except for the microwave. I checked the circuit breaker, and no switch was flipped to off and that was the extent of my research. About 10-15 minutes later my daughter came upstairs to tell me that the wine bottle fell on the Bosch cooktop when she was getting a paper towel. I told her it was okay but make sure to clean up the glass from the bottle. She said the bottle did not break but the cooktop did crack. I said what? I went downstairs to look at the damage and there was large crack at the corner of the cooktop. Oh, this day could not get any better. The one positive was the stove still worked. After a couple of weeks of research, I found out that I could replace the glass cooktop. I ordered the cooktop glass from Bosch which was a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit. I texted Jose and he said he could repair both. I gave him the model numbers and pictures of the appliances. Jose said he could replace the cooktop glass and said that it was not worth it to repair the microwave. The cooktop was about 5 years old, and the microwave was about 20 years old. We scheduled the repair for the following week. Jose texted me that he was at a client would be over around 2-3. Jose arrived and took a look at the cooktop unit and wasn't sure if it could be replaced because there was no access to the unit from the front, sides or underneath. Jose being smart figured out how to replace the cooktop glass by lifting the unit by prying it out from the countertop. He said that this would be a very complex repair because he had to disassemble the unit from the cooktop glass. When he turned the unit upside-down, he said that he would have to reconstruct the unit exactly the same. He removed every screw and part. I needed to assist Jose because he needed to replace every part as it was originally built. It was just like working on a jigsaw puzzle. Once he completed replacing the parts he reassembled the unit. I assisted him with putting the cooktop unit in the countertop. Once the unit was in, I flipped the circuit breaker to on. Jose tested all the elements on the cooktop. SUCCESS! Throughout this whole process Jose was very professional and never waiver about the job. His prices were reasonable, and he did not charge me extra because of the complexity of the repair. I would definitely recommend Jose to anyone who needs to have their appliance repaired. He is fair and honest. read more
