How this restaurant got under my radar is one for the books. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a foodie, and a darn picky one. After getting back from being out of town celebrating my birthday, I wanted Caribbean cuisine. Thanks to Yelp, I found this gem of a restaurant. First, the place is huge. This is a place for a party. Greeted by Amantha, a vibrant young lady, was a plus. Our visit was on a Monday night, when they have an all-day happy hour. Be careful of their cocktails because when they say "boozy," they mean it. I let Amantha make all the suggestions for us because, hey, if she doesn't know what's good, who does? I always want fish, so she suggested the Snapper, and noted that it would be a 35-minute wait because "everything" is made fresh. Gordon Ramsay would be thrilled. So, we ordered appetizers. Rose's Shrimp Empanadas were delicious. The shrimp were succulent and not overcooked. The Mini Gold Delights, plantain cups filled with Tassot (fried goat) and topped with pikitz (spicy slaw), a must-have!! Both served with their Golden Sauce, a savory mustardy sauce similar to a Dijon vinaigrette. Both of these were washed down with Gen Bagay cocktails (we had two). On to the main courses. I ordered the Brooklyn Red Snapper stew, with white rice and a black bean sauce. The Snapper was spectacular. It was enough for three people. It was heavier in texture than Asian steamed fish, and yet lighter than the cousin Jamaican Escovitch Fried Red Snapper. But baby, talk about flavor. My partner ordered the Blue Goat, a savory, unctuous dish with a rich gravy, served with Djon- Djon, a native rice dish of Haiti, made with black mushrooms, a part of the cooking process, leaving an umami-packed punch of flavor. My man said that this was the best rice he had ever eaten! , If you are not used to eating Haitian cuisine, have Amantha show you how to eat it. There is actually a ritual to blending these flavors, which made a difference. We had leftovers, but the best part is that the food was even better the next day!!! Not many restaurants can say that. Must try Haitian food! I went for restaurant week and the staff were so nice. I felt at home they treat you like family and from the people that came in it seems everyone knows each other and we're laughing and joking. Very cozy restaurant with great food. The food did take a while and we were told that because everything is fresh and you can tell that it was prepared fresh. I didn't mind the wait because we had drinks with our meal and that was good as well. It's a family owned spot and I love spots like this because I like to see when everyone in the family is invested, especially the younger generations. read more

I love this Haitian family owned hidden gem nestled in the heart of Brooklyn. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and has a huge bar. They also have co a private room for parties. I came here twice within a week. Mini Golden Delights Coconut Shrimp Shrimp Tacos Ra Ra Pasta Stew Snapper w/ rice and beans And plantains special cocktail made by the bartender The golden delights are plantain cups that were stuffed with succulent fried pork. The plantains were fried to perfection. I haven't had plantains like that in forever. The shrimp tacos were mouthwatering they are pricey, but it is worth it and it comes with a lot of shrimp. Big pieces of shrimp. You can tell that is made with good quality shrimp. The sauce that comes with the shrimp is spicy, but really good. The stellar item besides the tacos was the Ra Ra pasta. It is similar to Rasta pasta, but with a spicy kick; it was so delicious and the shrimp was grilled to perfection. I enjoyed the snapper and it was huge. It is easily shareable and they do give big portions here the cocktails are good here and the staff are so friendly. They also have another room for private events.Friday night is Kompa Night. Excellent Caribbean food, generous portions and a nice family friendly atmosphere; not surprisingly since it seems to be family owned. We were there on a Thursday night and there was a great band playing blues and jazz! Some friends of the band were sitting in and we were treated to the kind of musical experience I'd expect at a brand name jazz club but for free and for a small crowd (it was a freezing night right after the storm). I had a taste for Haitian food and the reviews were pretty good.. Since it is a holiday and didn't know if they were open, I called ahead. No one answered so I drove over anyway. Thankfully the restaurant was open. I ordered fried snapper and ita made to order. It took about 35 minutes which is typical.. The fish was huge and could easily feed 2-3 people. The snapper was well seasoned and really good.. The black rice was good but I felt like it was missing something. It was not dry like I black rice. I couldnt tell if it was reheated or freshly cooked. If it was fresh, they should've cooked more water out of it.. I was looking forward to the picklies. It was very vinegary and not enough heat. I received sweet plantain and I prefer green with Haitian food. Little things like this and the fact they put cooked the onions on the fish instead of raw white onions are little things that bug me about this food. It was good, a solid 4 stars. read more

Came here recently for my friend's birthday event and the experience was interesting. The decor was great, the Christmas theme was still up, and the tables were clean. I got here early with two of my friends and the bartenders were friendly and greeted us. When more people started coming that's when things started to go a bit haywire. We were advised that the menu was pre-fixed. When we looked at the menu we noticed the items were a bit pricey, so it was assumed that an appetizer & an entree was included. Upon checking with the server, it wasn't. There also so happened to be a regular menu in the establishment and one on Yelp. We did notice there was a $10-$20 upcharge per plate. I attached an image of the menus for comparison. A gentleman who I can assume is the owner, noticed me checking out the two menus and he came over quickly and asked for the menu. Then explained the menu for the birthday dinner doesn't have the same thing as the regular menu. Which wasn't accurate. . . . After placing an order of Fried Chicken and Black Rice (I was starving) my friend and I went to the bar area. The previously stated gentleman was behind the bar as well. She got her drink, however, the same gentleman didn't acknowledge me, he kept walking past me and taking other orders. During the night I was also informed that some people felt ignored by the staff behind the bar. I finally got a rum punch after about 20 mins of waiting. I can say I the Rum Punch I recommend. . . Onto the food, my friends and I were disappointed. Two of us got Fried chicken and black rice the other person got black rice and griot. Everything was a bit overcooked and dry. There was a sauce that was included and that helped revive the meal. Now they also offered hookah which was pricey as well $60 and the individual didn't seem too versed in the hookah. The hookah was harsh and he first said "I'm not sure how to fix it ", we were also a table 4 and he gave us one piece. My friends and I had to brainstorm and play with the coal and the hookah itself to finally get it to pull. . . Overall, my experience here was quite negative and I personally won't return. As a person who loves Haitian food, I was disappointed. My friend who is of Haitian descent at the table was as well. It took over two hours to bring food to some guests, they gave guests things that they did not order and when you told them, they dismissively said we ran out. A pretty new establishment that is making an impression on the neighborhood. From the stark rich cobalt blue decor visible from the street to the friendly staff, venturing in to see what will make this Haitian influenced restaurant a biable option for dinner. I was admittedly extremely skeptical as I am not a fan of Haitian food. But wanted to support the local mom and pop during the pandemic that has been particularly rough on restaurants. I am pleased to say this little new corner of Flatbush has staying power. The food was absolutely surprisingly good. The ambiance is beyoootifulll!!! Oxtail is a west indian favorite. So I was praying they did not screw it up. And they didn't. Flavorful and tender. I got yhe wings just because, and those were great too. Most notably, although the menu was a little pricey, the portion size matched. There was enough to host a modest dinner for a family of 4. I give the restaurateurs a lot of credit for opening a new business during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a beautiful day to have an early dinner outdoors. Since indoor dining was prohibited, I did sneak a peek through the window. The decor looked gorgeous. The brand colors, blue and gold, were omnipresent. My server made a real effort to put my dinner party and I at ease by being so personable. He introduced himself then memorized our names. I loved that and found it quite refreshing. I felt like I was more than a meal ticket and confident that I would be well taken care of like I was family. Now let's talk about food and presentation. Appetizers: 1. Fresh pre-sliced buttered bread 2. Plantain chips with dip 3. Plantains were molded into edible miniature bowls then filled with beef and peppers. The spicy pickled slaw was in the center of the plate. Entree: I ordered the baked red snapper with rice and beans which came with two fried plantains. These dishes are popular in Haitian cuisine, so there were no real surprises. There were a few hiccups (ex. wait times and forgotten sides), but that was to be expected as a new business. I am just glad to see the community embrace them and show their support by dining locally. Plain and simple the food just hits like it was made at home! I went twice and both times I was just amazed on how high the quality of their food is. I recently had shrimp sospwa and that has got to be the most tastiest 5star shrimp I ever had. Rice was on point too! As soon as I took my first spoon I started to speak creole. We all loved pouring the sauces over the beans and rice though I am certain all of the styles of cooking offered are excellent. of choices which I'm certain are all delicious. We devoured the Malanga Afra--a totally yummy crispy fried root that was not at all greasy. All of the food in this restaurant is high quality and fresh. The restaurant had been recommended to us and I only wish we didn't live across the country or we would be regulars. Plus we enjoyed meeting the couple who own and run the restaurant and maintain a high standard for what they serve. The decor is lovely and the music they played added to the lovely, warm ambiance. Thursday (3/23/23) my husband & I decided to go on a date. We booked a concert to see Jill Scott & decided to take a chance on this restaurant for some dinner before the show. My husband was handling the dinner arrangements. We took the LIRR in from Queens & took a taxi that dropped us off at the restaurant but to our surprise it was closed. I was so.........sad but then we noticed that the catered side of the restaurant was open. We went to the opened door & asked are you open tonight & explained our situation. Ms. Rose apologized & stated we are usually open but she was catering for a large party. We explained our date & travels to Ms. Rose & then she said do you want to come in. I said are you going to feed us? She said yes. Oh my God! She made our night & our date wonderful! She allowed us entry into her restaurant, gave us the menu to select our meal & proceeded to cook us a fresh meal. Ms. Rose also turned on some really nice music while we waited & ate! The food was simply DELICIOUS! I felt the love from Ms. Rose in her food, the rum punch & her warm divine hospitality! She didn't have to do this for us but we are so very pleased & grateful too!
