OK, real talk: I don't usually think of dinners as bad investments but places worth trying out once, but this one hurt so bad. Honestly, this might be the worst $80 of money I've spent in years. I regret not trusting the Yelp reviews.... I am now writing this so you don't have to make the same mistake. AMBIANCE We stopped by one evening craving American Chinese food after going to multiple solid spots across the coast...and the food menu and photos looked like most spots so we figured we'd give it a go... Parking was easy enough and when we came in, we were immediately seated in the green booths. It was clear that the place was going for a nicer, upsale Asian restaurant vibe with the booths and glass partitions (compared to the usual expectations for bare-bones takeout spots)...but the stick tables and booth furniture and lighting was a nope from me. FOOD The food looked decent and the "fast service" and good place for "cozy dates" on the website was fine, but gosh darn in this economy, the PRICE for VALUE and QUALITY at a spot like this is ridiculous. We started with the PuPu flaming platter as an appetizer for $30 and expected something more than what we got. It consisted of a few fried wontons with basically no filling, the least meaty chicken wings, and all the fried stuff was more batter or fatty unedible bits than protein. Plus, it was COLD. This platter for $30 is more show with the flames in the center than food. You could go to a fancy upscale dining establishment and have not only higher quality food but also better service AND ambiance. Then the snow white chicken at ~$18 and it was fine, kind of more dry than the usual but fine. The pork fried rice for $13.99 tasted odd to us with the mix-ins used. We also asked for an extra plate of Steamed Vegetables for $17, which and it took a good 20 minutes to show up. For how expensive it was, I kept waiting for at least one dish to redeem the meal... AND it never happened! SERVICE The service was fast for the most part. However, for the price here and the type of place, you'd expect someone to check on you. Seriously, we had to ask multiple times for extra drinks. It was hard to get anyone's attention when we needed something. It wasn't rude, just very "we don't really care...." I have NO photos on this because it was so awful. I would not return. Please spend your money elsewhere. Please don't make the same mistake we did. read more

Decent Food, Tough Pricing This place caught my attention because it had a quick appearance in I, Tonya, which was a cool little detail. The food itself was solid. We ordered a variety Mongolian beef, rice, soup, spring rolls, and lo mein and everything had good flavor. No major complaints on taste. Where it lost points for me was the pricing and menu structure. It's a pretty expensive Asian spot, and unlike most places, you can't really mix and match smaller items easily. You're mostly choosing between full dinner plates or single items that run $20+, which adds up quickly. We ended up around $80 for two people, and for what it is, that just didn't feel worth it. Service was decent, and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Overall, not bad, not great just somewhere in the middle. Always a great meal & the service is welcoming & fun! We have been coming here for YEARS, nothing has changed but maybe a freah coat of paint. Off Clairmont Road, just down from Clairmont Presbyterian & Toco Hills. A small place, but a good amount of tables. They have adult beverages as well. To-go is an option if you are not for dining in. We got Mongolian Beef, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, General Tso & another dish. Basically a beef, pork, seafood & chicken. I went here for an early dinner last week and let me just say, the food is AMAZING. They do a sharing plates deal, so my friend and I each ordered what we wanted individually, and we were able to share plenty of each of our dishes. The plates are a bit on the pricier side but you definitely get your moneys worth, with about 3 servings for each dish. The hot and sour soup tasted so flavorful and very authentic. The Mongolian beef was definitely the highlight, with the perfect amount of flavor and breading. The veggie lo mein was also a favorite for those going on the healthier side. The service was a bit slow was very attentive. There were several water refills for my dehydrated self and we were checked in on several times. The service here is always quick and nice! Been coming here for a while and finally got my chance around to writing a review. I partially love their spicy seafood noodles. I probably get this every single time. The broth is so rich and spicy and has the perfect charred flavor to it. Their noodles are also always cooked perfectly and packed to the brim. There's lots of seafood, pork and vegetables in this dish. Their lunch specials are also something that keeps up coming back! The affordable prices and quality is just unbeatable. This used to be a favorite of ours when we both worked at Emory and lived in the area, so we were surprised when we ventured in after many years to try it once again. It's still great after all these years! Same calm interior and excellent service, our return visit did not disappoint. We love Szechuan food but that's been our go to for a long time, so it was nice to try Mandarin cuisine again. We had some of our old favorites, including hot and sour soup, steamed dumplings, cold sesame noodles, and mu shu pork. Everything was really delicious. They have an expansive menu with some Szechuan dishes sprinkled throughout so there's really something for everyone. They've been in business for 47 years for good reason. More of a miss these days. We have been long time customers of this Golden Buddha. I am not sure what has happened, but lately we have been very disappointed in our meals. The food has been very inconsistent this past year, some times really good, but lately mostly bad (old, not fresh, super greasy). We keep giving them a chance because they are so convenient. Today, My husband and I are both sick with summer colds and we just wanted some wonton soup and egg rolls and pot stickers, Should be fine! The soup was ok, but our favorite part, the crunchy wontons, were so stale they were inedible. The Egg rolls were over cooked, old, and super greasy. I didn't want to be the person who did an extreme Yelp review, but there is no chance I am giving this place a second chance. My boyfriend at the time had the Moo Shu Gai Pan and got sick after. Personally, I thought the food was just too heavy and salty. I took a class on Asian American Studies when I was a junior at Emory University, where we learned about the story of Chinese-American food. Only tried the fried rice it's pretty good. We get veggie rice for myself and chicken for my daughter and my parents eat shrimp fried rice.

We used to love this place, but it is so inconsistent that we just won't go anymore. It's a real shame, too, as this place used to be so good. Now the food is ok or terrible. In Atlanta, there is always another option, but I really hope that this place can figure out how to be good and consistent again. From the reviews, it seems that dining in may work out better. It's hard to find really good pork fried rice with the bbq pork, they make it so well. I accidentally chose to make my fried rice spicy with my online order. I love spicy, but not on my fried rice.
