APR2026 Stopped in to check things out real quick and check mark things for banh mi in the area. Inside had lots of seating with many overhead fans to cool things on a warmer day in downtown. The people at the front were friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. I had gotten a golden tofu banh mi and shrimp and pork spring rolls. The banh mi felt small, and the balance of ingredients wasn't really there. Not much of the pickled veggies and the pickling was light. Not enough of the spread you'd usually get to really bind things together. The bread was light and crunchy, just not enough on size and too much in the middle for ingredients. The spring rolls were good. I liked that the rice wrapper didn't distentegrate on contact which is tough to find in this area. The peanut sauce was a little sweet for my tastes but worked well enough. For the price, not my cup of tea due to the amount though some of the flavors could work well with some tweaking. read more

Combo sandwich was quite tasty. Bread was nice and it didn't cut up your gums! (a prerequisite for any good banh mi) $2 per egg roll is not worth it, despite good flavor, but for the size of your thumb/index finger and the value. Nah FYI their website listed on yelp (ordergoldenbun.com) is not updated as of 3/3/25. It has the wrong hours (says they close at 5pm on Saturday when they actually close at 7pm Mon-Sat. And says they're closed Sunday when they're actually open). Also their website ordering goes to (https://order.simplemenu.com/store/1724) which is not working. This should be basic business management because you're confusing your customers, requiring them to call to clarify conflicting information, and you're also potentially losing out on online business. (by the way customers should skip online ordering in general, since restaurants often/always add an upcharge to menu prices) read more

Located in DT Santa Rosa, the restaurant is a small one, but not crowded at all (at least on New Year's Eve)! The sandwiches were really good, especially with the pate, but kinda small! The pho was supposedly really tasty according to my son, who loves pho! He says one of the better tasting ones! And the bbq pork was surprisingly tender! We will def stop by the next time we are in the area! Order at the cashier and pay! They bring your food to you if you dine in! read more

Closest thing to a Michelin banh mi that I could possibly imagine. Every ingredient is intentional, even the carrots are grated in house. The chili garlic sauce was fantastic to put on top. The beef tri-tip was so moist so if you've ever had a dry version of the sandwich, you need to try theirs! San Jose people who know Duc Huong, you need to come up to Santa Rosa to try this! Finally got a chance to stop in after the cooperage down the street. Wanted to try their banh mi since you'd think it's their specialty because of their name. Didn't disappoint. Though the bbq pork looked different (it had a red type of sauce on it), it surely tasted good and was tender. And speaking of tender, their French bread was perfect--crunchy on the outside, soft inside. The golden bun name is fitting. (My kids got the ramen--nicebroth flavor and noodle texture; can't complain) Owners were nice to chat with as well. read more

I love this place. I eat here every time I'm in the area and always order the same thing: a pork Golden Bun bahn mi and a mocha Vietnamese iced coffee. The bahn mi is so delicious. We needed a spot for a quiet meeting. Popped in to our favorite Banh Mi spot in Santa Rosa. Warmly greeted by the owner Derek. I got the egg rolls and my brother in-law got the banh mi. We were driving through the area and decided to get some banh mis and these were phenomenal! The bread was soft and still a bit crunchy, the pickled veggies to meat ratio was perfect, and the coffee was GREAT. I wouldn't say I am super picky on my viet coffee but this was tasting just like how they used to make it before the premade pours. It was that thick and strong coffee flavor that wasn't overly sweet. The banh mis we got the grilled chicken and grilled pork and both were tasty and moist. We will be back again! read more

First time coming with my foodie family. Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered spring rolls, egg rolls, banh mi, chicken wings and a strawberry smoothie boba drink. Egg rolls were hot and crispy, spring rolls were packed with veggies pork and shrimp. Bahn mi were super flavorful and the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken wings were cooked well and the sauce was a lightly sweet and were delicious! If the food wasn't enough for us to come back, the wonderful friendly and personable customer service was! Lowkey the best banh mi I've ever had. The flavor of the grilled chicken was amazing and they load you up with pâté. The cashier was super nice. My only gripe is that the sandwich is quite small, but the taste makes up for it. read more

Absolutely delicious. We were told that they recently brought in all new chefs& you can tell they put their heart& soul into everything they made. The service was kind and quick, making it ideal for a quick lunch-hour stop. I was suggested to have the BBQ beef bahn mi& I was blown away by all the flavors. The bun was so perfectly soft yet crunchy& the beef was insanely tender. Also had the spring rolls without the shrimp, because of an allergy& they had no problem at all adjusting it for me. It's hard to screw up a fresh bahn mi sandwich so figured I try this place since there weren't a ton of other options sticking out to me in the area. Our sandwiches were pretty good, but certainly not the best I have ever had. The restaurant looks like it use to be an old Subway and very dated. Staff was friendly and service took about 10-15 minutes for just the two sandwiches and it was pretty much just me and my wife there. read more

Love this place! I always order a BBQ pork banh mi and like the Thai ice tea as well. They were playing Vietnamese EDM music this time I went and I was rocking out actually I appreciate that they were playing any sort of Vietnamese music because a lot of Asian restaurant play Taylor swift or Sabrina carpenter or whatever American pop music they think is suitable anyways I just appreciated the fact that they were playing Vietnamese music and the food is delicious and the people that run this place are very friendly , all around great place! read more

The pho was just the ticket on this rainy evening. I regularly get the golden tofu bahn mi which is delicious. The staff was amazing! It was closing time and the staff was having oysters and they graciously invited me to sit with them and enjoy my meal. The atmosphere is very clean and welcoming. Finally! An excellent bahn mi in the north bay. It took me way too long to find this place. The chicken wings were also delicious and the Thai iced tea as well. Service was good and everything tasted fresh. I had the Chicken Bahn Mi and the only complaint I have about it was that there was way to much slimy chicken skin for my liking but besides that the flavor was delicious and there was a good amount of meat. I like how the fresh spring rolls have shrimp and pork. The Taro tea was really good not to sweet like most places make taro milk teas. Lots of indoor seating and easy to read menus. I definitely want to go back and try some other menu items that had caught my eye but I was dead set on the Bahn Mi. So til next time! read more

5 stars for the Banh Mi only. Everything else... try at your own discretion. Let me say that their banh mi is probably the best I've had in Santa Rosa. The meat is so juicy and perfectly cooked. The veggies tasty really fresh and super crisp! Bread is crumby so make sure you eat over some napkins! After I had it the first time I could not stop craving it . Literally went back 2 more times in the week! We also ordered the spring rolls and they were not good. It did not taste fresh at all. I would suggest skipping on it but maybe we just went on a bad day for spring rolls. Highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a tasty banh mi. read more

This place is hands down one of the most incredible and underrated spots in downtown Santa Rosa. I started ordering from here over a year ago because I work nearby, and I eat here at least once (if not twice) a week! The worst part of working from home is not having easy access to Golden Bun. I have an obsession with the tofu bahn mi as well as the Vietnamese style spring rolls, which have vermicelli noodles inside. I get the tofu bahn mi very frequently yet i wolf it down like it's my first time EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It has a chokehold on me. The bread always has a pleasant crunch and the way they flavor the tofu is incredible. I would recommend this sandwich even to people who eat meat and definitely to people who have never tried a bahn mi before. I love golden bun and the people that work there. The people remember you and welcome you. The store is sunny with space and laid back energy. I have to imagine they get busy however I have never waited long in line or for food. Their signature banh mi is what I imagine the perfect Vietnamese sandwich would taste like, the bread is fresh and the tofu is marinated well. As a vegetarian it's always nice to find a consistent place. The golden tofu with a mango smoothie is the best part of some days !!!! read more

Friendliest restaurant I ever been to in my life. Warm and genuine greeting. Warm and genuine farewell. They did everything possible to make me a happy customer. They accommodated a food request off the menu, which I greatly appreciated. I got fried egg Bahn-mi. Not worth it at all. The spring rolls w were, good, but nothing special. The chicken pho was disappointing they didn't even have steak only chicken and meatball pho. there was barely any chicken And chicken should be a cheaper protein option but the chicken pho was more expensive than steak pho that i get from other places. There was no lime and every single ingredient was skimped other than the noodles which is the cheapest ingredient. read more

We were desperate for good food. And I had a craving for a good banh mi. Good luck with that or so I thought. Wow! This little spot was an very unexpected surprise. I don't know the area very well so this was a shot in the dark. I called ahead to place an order. The man was really friendly and helpful. Once I explained this was my first time he recommended the two favorites. I must admit it was a few days ago and given my holiday food coma my memory is extra challenged but I will say that one was a pork and the other was pork and chicken. Soooo good. I know this is a Vietnamese sandwich place, but I can't stop coming here for the milk teas! All of them are fantastic and I am ADDICTED. My favorites are the thai tea and the black milk tea. I've gone to places like Quickly, T4, and ShareTea, but none of the milk teas or boba can even compare to this spot! The boba is the perfect amount of soft and sweet. Honestly, this place is a hidden gem. They are fairly new and definitely deserve more recognition. Bonus: this is also a great study space with tons of outlets and table space--it's also usually not as busy (unfortunately, but this needs to change ASAP!) I would definitely recommend. The owner and employees are also very friendly. Support your local businesses! read more

The banh mi bread was perfectly flaky, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside & pricing was pretty good too.
