We stopped by here on our way to Mendocino. The restaurant is Viethai, but it appeared mostly thai cuisines. I saw many people recommended the Khao soi and this dish was indeed very delicious. The broth was creamy and the meat was soft. We also got the lao papaya salad and fried calamari. The salad was good and the fried calamari was ok. It was definitely worth the trip! Cute, little restaurant in a strip mall. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I started with the pork egg rolls. They were light, crispy and full of flavor. Then I had the house fried rice with diced pork, and the pad woo sen with chicken. The portions are good for sharing. I like That they chop the protein small enough to eat without having to cut it up. Also, like that they have metal chopsticks on the table. I appreciate their attention to detail. I think where they have a leg up on some other places is their clean and comfortable seating but without an elevated price point. The tom yum noodle soup was pretty tasty. I liked the short rib pho and combo pho. The duck curry was a little more watery than I'd like but had good flavor. I cannot stop going here! I am stone-cold in love with the Basil Eggplant! I'm telling you, the sauces alone are so amazing, you can dip a shoe in them and enjoy your meal. I have been here multiple times with both my fiancé and friends, and enjoyed each time. Some of my favorites are their khao soi short rib, mango salad, papaya, salad, and mango sticky rice. I recently tried their pad Thai and that will also be one of my new favorites. My fiancé always gets their pumpkin curry with chicken. Flavor and portion size are great. The ambience is cozy and homey. Lots of parking outside. Service is always friendly, even when they are packed. If you go during peak dinner hours around 6 to 7:30pm, your food may take some time to come out. I think it's worth it though. Will definitely be back. Beef Pad See Ew - Interesting bean sprouts; that is new for us. Overall good, but we could have used a slightly larger quantity. Ambiance - Small local restaurant. We were the first customers, so we got to pick our table of choice. Plenty of mall parking; again, first customers. Clean unisex restroom. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm. Service - 6 stars. Lani was so experienced and professional. And she looks so young (compliment). It was a reward watching her work the entire restaurant by herself. So smooth and positive. This restaurant was very unique. Viet and Thai combined. Positives: -Food, we got the corn fritters, the beef pho, and the beef rib khao soy. My wife liked her khao soy as the broth tasted more like Vietnamese curry. It also came with a giant beef rib and a ton of noodles. I did not like my beef pho. The broth was very dark and was a little too sweet. It almost seemed too Thai like the boat noodle broth. We both enjoyed the corn fritters however. -portions were very generous and service was standard -ambiance had a Thai theme for the decor. The area outside is questionable. It has seen better times. Summary - you should got and try this place out. It is in a small strip mall, but don't let that put you off. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great and friendly. I tried the iced Thai green tea, and I will sure to have it again. We went because many of the dishes are gluten free, what my daughter needed. Plus a load of vegetarian options that I needed Chicken pad Thai was excellent as was the Peanut Good. Not much else to say. Fabulous service, tabulated dishes. Go..... A great spot for Asian food in Santa Rosa. They have Thai / Vietnamese and a bunch of asian fusion dishes. I ordered the cashew noodles which is basically a thai/chinese style fusion dish. The sauce is great - its a slightly smoky chili sauce with a bit of sweetness. They warn you its very spicy but I didn't really notice it. Really nice artwork and decor inside and the service is good too. There were lots of other dishes that sounded great, will definitely be back to try them! read more

I'm always looking for amazing BBQ duck noodle soup to replicate one I had in the past - sorry to say this wasn't it though it was good. I'm sure it helps with the pricing to have about 10 small thin slices of duck instead of the chunks with skin on top adding a bit of fat, but I miss that. We called for takeout this week and got the massaman curry, satay, and the peanut good. We also got a Thai iced tea. They were packed! But service was quick, was able to get the food and get out. The hi lights were the chicken satay and the Thai iced tea. The chicken satay order is generous you get large chicken portions compared to other restaurants. The Massaman curry was okay but it wasn't as spicy as it normally is. They do give you a generous large portion. It comes with rice. My partner loved his dish of peanut good. Light, bright, clean. I ordered Pad Thai and they made it just right. I like it best when Thailand style with tofu, chicken and shrimp. So ordered it that way. Next time I'll ask for less shrimp. lol. Because they put lots. I wanted soup too but it was a bit pricey for me. So just the Pad Thai this time. Congrats to Viethai on their first successful year! We are so fortunate they decided to open their restaurant in Santa Rosa. My family and I are regulars here and have always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The server, Ann, is incredibly kind and sweet. She gives her all to ensure the guests are having a fabulous experience and she never stops moving. With a big smile, she glides around the dining room checking on everyone. Our favorites here have been the corn fritters, hot wings, won ton soup, khao soi, basil fried rice, yum wood sen (glass noodle salad with ground pork, shrimp, various veggies in a thai lime dressing), pad thai, pad see ew, pad kee mao, pumpkin curry, meatball curry and their mango sticky rice is gorgeous and delicious. The talented and professional chef is often scanning the dining room to ensure everything is running smoothly and she helps by serving dishes and enjoys chatting with her guests as time allows. She is dedicated and passionate about the art of cooking and her effort clearly shows through by the number of customers who are always anxious to dine here. We have waited up to 45 minutes for a table of six here but even when it's just the two of us stopping by for lunch on a weekday, the place is usually hopping. Tucked in a small strip mall on 3rd Ave next to the 101 is Viethai Cuisine, a small cozy restaurant that was packed when I came in for lunch. The interior was simple. clean, and welcoming. 8/10 I ordered the basil fried rice and the panang curry (both medium). The garlic chili sauce in the fried rice was flavorful with a nice subtle heat and the potent aroma of the basil was addicting. The only thing missing (and the most important imo) was the lack of wok hei in the fried rice. That smokiness and slight char flavor that wok hei imparts into stir fry dishes makes a drastic difference between restaurant and home cooked fried rice. The rice was also slightly oily, but not a big deal. 7.4/10 The panang tasted slightly heavy in the coconut milk and the addition of broccoli to a curry is the farthest from authentic. It was not bad, just lackluster compared to other Thai restaurants I've had in SF and the bay. The side salad dressing was delicious though. 6.7/10 Service was excellent; I got seated right away despite the server being busy. She was the only one working the front and with regards to this day being particularly busy, I still had my order taken within 5 minutes. 10/10 It is hard to judge a restaurant based solely on two dishes as I did not get to try their noodle dishes, soup, or salads. I would love to go back and try more of the menu, but from this experience alone, it was slightly lackluster. 7.4/10 read more

Everything was excellent here! Came here for an early dinner with my mom and I really liked all the dishes. Biggest standouts were the papaya salad and the Khao Soi with crab meat. Papaya salad was so refreshing, citrusy and nutty. Thai Shrimp ceviche was a good appetizer as well! Both these dishes had a slight spicy kick to them which I love. Whatever they used for the chips was sooo good, a lot lighter and thinner than traditional corn tortilla chips. Beef pad see ew was good as well, can't go wrong with it and it didn't taste overly sweet like some places I've been to. Highly recommend the khao soi, a warm Thai red curry broth with that sweet coconut milk to cut the acidity and a good amount of hearty egg noodles. The price was also on the higher side, so we expected more interesting or creative fusions of dishes and flavor profiles. But some of the Thai flavors we experienced were solid! What we tried: Meatball Curry: Tasty and different; the meatball texture was good, and they were yummy. The sauce was pretty good. I would recommend this. Nice presentation. Larb: This was overall solid but seemed to lack the bright, bold flavors we've had at other Thai restaurants. Spring Rolls: Quality ingredients and tasty, but also Thai-leaning in flavor. Given the focus on fusion, I was hoping for more complexity and more integration of Viet flavors. Crispy Fried Pork: Good flavor but seemed a bit dry and overcooked. Perhaps this was authentic to the street food style however. The overall flavor profile felt predominantly Thai, missing the freshness, herbs, and balance that make Vietnamese cuisine special. Even the spring rolls tasted more Thai than Vietnamese. It felt like Thai cuisine with occasional nods to Vietnamese dishes rather than true fusion. On the positive side, the environment and presentation were lovely, and the staff was friendly. Coming from major cities, I've also adjusted my rating for the local context. Good! -Tom Yum noodle soup: creamy tom yum soup with your choice of protein, crushed peanuts, bok choy and pho noodles. Easily feeds 2 people and has a strong spicy/sour lemongrass punch that reminds you of the instant tom yum ramen (in a very good way). -Green curry with beef: huge pot of medium spicy curry with perfectly cooked green beans, corn, and eggplant. Husband said it may be the best green curry he's had. They give such large portions that the leftovers filled the entire takeout container. All this for under $55 total! And the leftovers last another meal for 2. Will have to try the Vietnamese dishes like spring rolls and pho next time. Service is friendly and quick. Amazing food that draws you back for more.. This place has a fusion of different flavors from the Viet/Thai/Cambodian area that is prevalent in their cuisine that highlights such flavors in their menu. I can't comment much on their Vietnamese dishes as I haven't really gotten a chance to try, but the majority of their menu showcases Thai cuisine.. and in particular, the Khao Soi (Northern Thailand) is a must-try.
