The people that work here took 15-20 minutes to take my order from the drive-thru. There were no signs, for cars to move forward. Once I got to the window to take my order, I saw the co-workers on their phones and not working at all. After ordering my food and waited for another 10-15 minutes for some fresh fish to come out, I noticed there was also hair wrapped around my fried fish. I was really surprised to like this place so much. Aside from Cowboy Chicken, fast-food chicken restaurants tend to serve dry, greasy, flavorless chicken. This Golden Chick has surprisingly good tenders. They were real chicken, not parts mashed together. They came out hot, tender, moist, and very flavorful. They appeared to be baked instead of deep fried so they were not greasy at all. I could be wrong on that, but they were not greasy even if fried. I got the spicy and they were indeed spicy! The four tenders with a side, roll, and huge drink was $7.19 which I thought was high until I tasted the tenders. Real chicken is worth it. The mashed potato side with gravy was nothing to write home about, barely warm, but it was edible. The roll was warm and tasty. I must say, I am now a fan. Even the wife liked her tenders, which is even more surprising than me liking mine. Convenient location means I will be back. read more

I'm giving this restaurant four stars with a caveat. My wife ordered three pieces of bone in chicken - a breast, wing and thigh. However we were informed it would be a ten minute wait for the thigh so scratch that. I ordered four tenders half spicy and half regular. We also ordered two gravies. No combos, no sides just chicken and gravy. So, what's the deal with a ten minute wait for chicken at supper time? It's called "fast food" for a reason. And I noticed other Yelpers had the same experience. Knock off half a star. And knock off half a star for the spicy tenders. Unlike some other chicken outfits, the spice is not in the breading but added later to the regular tenders. And that would be okay if the spice was distributed evenly but it's not. Some parts of the tender have way too much while other parts have none. A problem that could be easily fixed with a proper salt shaker and a light touch. So, why not three stars? My wife loved her chicken. The regular tenders are as good as anybody's. The gravy was just right. And service was good. Will I shop here again? Sure. I will just stay away from the spicy tenders. read more

I'll have to say that I wasn't much of a fan of KFC or other places as far as fast food but this place's chicken is really good. I have not eaten chicken breast or a leg in years and this has to be the best one I've had in a long time. I love the spicy chicken strips and zing sauce. The rolls are fresh and hot. Service is always fast. In and out quick. And prices aren't to bad, I believe its cheaper then KFC. If you eat inside you can get a free ice cream cone from there softserve machine. read more

I've been a fan of Golden Chick for about 30 years. I hadn't been since moving to the area 5 years ago and wanted to try the Alaskan cod. So sorry I did. Got home to two pieces of dark brown fish which led me to believe it had been cooked twice. One was inedible as even the fish was brown. Part of the second piece was softer so I ate it and now have indigestion from the grease. My receipt time was 11:15am. Sides were fine and roll was wonderful. Called and spoke with the manager and she told me it is my responsibility to check my own order. Great customer service I have to say. Won't be going to that location any more. Of all the fried chicken we've had recently, this place had some of the worst pieces from our experience. The family pack pieces were on the smaller size, the meat was dry and had a hint of bitterness (i.e. old frying oil), and the order had missing items like other reviewers. Even Freckles not far away had more moist fried chicken. Looks like our favorite is still the chicken dinner house in Garland, where it's worth the extra $ for what you get. Fast, good, fried food. Similar to most fast food chicken joints but more homier and a southern touch.

So very happy this location has opened up. Just bummed because we are moving out of the neighborhood soon. It's a new store and the interior looks great. The staff are keeping it very neat, clean and tidy. The food is always prepared perfectly. Have yet to have overcooked chicken. Always fresh and hot and they have no problems with letting our fries sit in the cooker an extra minute or two to get extra crispy. The entire staff is extremely pleasant and friendly. Making sure to say hello, thank you and please come again. Never feel like they are in the whole "I hate my job" mindset. I only have one problem with this place and that is this guy who works in the evenings. He keeps talking over me when I'm trying to place my order. It winds up taking longer to order because he thinks he knows what I'm gonna say and then finishes my sentences for me and then I have to correct him. It's frustrating. However, on the plus side, every now and again this place will give me a free drink when the line is long and I've waited a while. I'm just leaving this review because I went up there for dinner tonight and I saw that guy through the window so I drove away and went somewhere else because I just don't have the energy to deal with him today. They forgot a whole family size french fries as well as the 4 rolls that came with the tenders AND my corn nuggets. Called and spoke with the manger Greg to let him know what had happened and he told us in order to get the order replaced I would have to bring back everything if not then he will only replace the items that were forgotten.. so instead i asked if he could throw in something, a coupon anything due to the fact that the mistake was on their end and he responded with "we've had a rough night"... and proceeded to ask for my name and number and didn't even acknowledge what i said.
