    Bacon cheeseburger

I took off a star because the seating at the booths and the bathrooms suck! The booths are so cramped that you will tangle your legs and feet with your companion while having the table against your chest. There are seats at the counter so grab if you can. Also the bathrooms are not handicapped accessible. Would it cost much for the owner to switch out toilets to the higher seats and install a grab bar? No not really. Also the music was so loud I asked for it to be turned down. Now the burgers are the really good old fashioned kind. Cooked to order with a great char and served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles with mustard are really yummy. We tried the tots and onion rings - both fried to perfection without a drop of grease. Someone in the kitchen knows how to cook and could give lessons to the fancier burger places in town. We also had the root beer ice cold in the frosty mugs - so refreshing! So even though this would qualify as a "dive" it certainly doesn't translate into dive prices. With al a carte pricing it adds up real fast to $20+ per person. We decided it was worth another visit.

If you've never been to this neighborhood burger joint you need to try it. It's been serving great burgers, homemade root beer in a frosty mug and many other choices since 1956. I really can't even imagine how many times I've been here over the years. Always a burger, fries and root beer. My hubby always gets a chocolate shake with his burger and fries. They actually have quite a few other options but their burgers are so good. The service is always friendly and fast. You can even sit in your car and a friendly carhop will wait on you! Try it, you'll like it!

Best hamburger in Dallas!!!! There fries remind me of my mom's fries right out of that cast iron skillet!!!

Still have car hop service..! Even with these temperatures....that's worth 5 Stars right there

5 Stars Just Because: 1. In continuous operation since 1956 2. I never feasted here until today and it was delicious 3. To my knowledge is the only remaining "hamburger stand" of this type left in Dallas 4. Great service 5. This is a big one, Frosted Mug of Root Beer while it's 100 outside!!!! Dairy-ette is all at once an enigma, paradox and sanctuary rolled into one. Off Ferguson Rd in eastern Dallas this place was sitting here when my parents brought me to see my grandmother who lived down the street. However,I knew not of it's existence, until decades later when I was driving to her house myself. A great question is,why haven't you eaten here before? You say even as a Yelp Elite having book marked it years ago you..still didn't? Simply I don't know. What I do know is this place has been in almost the same state of operation for 67 years. In the meantime, I've seen 2 major shopping malls, countless office buildings and some residential streets built and demolished. Go figure. The more things change the more they stay the same. However, fair warning,I have a feeling this endangered species,a living museum seemingly stuck in an episode of Twilight Zone,is going going... You better...Go

Old school place where I grew up. The food is still great. The service is great. Come and check it out.

I've been a customer since 1963 A throwback to the 1950's drive in burger joint with car hops. It remains unchanged and eating great food in your car is a must experience. Try the homemade root beer. Bryan Adams HS and Bishop Lynch alumni know it well.

    Try the corn dog!!
    Sherry S.

The corn dogs are hand dipped & delicious. I'd put it up against a Fletcher's any day of the week. The root beer comes from their own recipe, so what's not to love??

the place is gettin a one star due to the fact they don't open on time says 11am -6pm and no one is ever here at 11 am i love the burgers and the feel of the place but i have to say cant rely on the hours they posted tgat they are supposedly open

We ended up here after stopping by Well Grounded Coffee Co. right down the road. I can't speak to…read morethe food there, but upon entering that location (Well Grounded), there was a strong and overwhelming malodorous scent giving off vibes of cigarettes mixed with sewage, so we promptly left and came to Ascension! Ah much much better! Ascension Coffee, in contrast, smelled pleasant and was quite clean. Our server was helpful and friendly, though we did have to indicate / flag him over to bring the check. The table seating was pretty close together/ not the most private feeling. At a table spaced next to us, a couple was having a first date and we could hear most every word without intending to just with how close the seats are, but that proved to be sort of sweet and charming. It didn't really bother us, though it was distracting from the study we were trying to do together. We ordered drinks. My tea (flirt tea) had a strong, full, unique flavor I enjoyed a lot. The mug had a striking with the geometric aesthetic, though for some reason I found every time I drank it dribbled onto the table some with the angles; still can't figure why. The art in Asenscion was very distinctive, likewise angular, and fun to take in too. It wouldn't be my first choice for coffee shops simply due to the layout; I prefer a bit more privacy when I'm seeking a coffee shop, however the service and drinks we got were really wonderful! It also was SO much of a better option for hang places than Well Grounded just from the smell factor alone. If it wasn't so oppressively hot in July when we visited, the outdoor seating looked amazing / perfect! Last minor quibble, our table was uneven/ wobbly, as were the ones next to us. This was only noticeable as we were working on a book study.

The patio was pretty empty when I arrived at the end of happy hour but quickly started to fill with post-work patrons. My server, Jesse, was great! Super attentive and friendly. I tried the Texas Heat Flatbread ($8 on Mondays) and the Tater Kegs. They were each very tasty. The portion sizes were large enough that I could box half of it up for later. You could easily split a flatbread and an app between two people. **Girlies, I know where you need to be "girl dinner & yapping" on a Monday night** The restaurant's proximity to the White Rock Lake trails is also a perk. I was able to take a quick post dinner walk along the water. I will definitely be coming back for a post-walk "rehydration" break at a later date.
