We had arrived to eat shortly after 9:00Pm. The 5'7 white young male asked if it will be carry out or dine in and we told him we will stay to eat. We placed our orders, pay and etc. we sat down and waited for a good 10-15 minutes for our meals. The guy called our name and as we approached to get the food he had our meals in the bag to go and told us they were closing and need to leave so he can sweep and mop the floor. 12/16/22: On a Friday evening, around 10:12 pm, I pulled up to the store and the door was locked. I figured that the dining room was closed, so I drove to the drive thru window. The sign on the drive thru window stated that it was open until 11pm. An African American lady was cleaning or something, and I tried to get her attention. She yelled through the closed window that the store was closed, and that they closed at 10pm. I tried to tell her that the sign on the drive thru window stated that they closed at 11pm. She then held 10 fingers up and kept saying "we close at 10". Bought a family meal at this Golden chick here in Garland, they had zero customers, but myself and I purchased a family meal through the drive thru lane. I asked them if they could add on some churros, the young lady at the window said that she was unable to do add-ons and I would have to go around the building and place another order through the drive-through because her system was set up some way and she was told by the manager that they had to do that. I was so thrilled when Golden Chick came into my neighborhood. The other locations around town have always had good food and good service. But this location has turned out to be a big disappointment. The drive-through was extremely slow when they first opened, which is somewhat understandable. However in the year or so that they have been open, their drive-through remains slow not just slow, ridiculously slow. Today's visit was no different. After sitting in the drive-through a few minutes, I turned on my stopwatch to time how long it would take to leave. It was 18 1/2 minutes before I left with my food. There were only four, maybe five cars ahead of me and one of those people pulled out of line and left. After waiting 20 minutes to get my food, the order was not correct. The drink and the chicken both were ncorrect. Something really needs to change before this place goes out of business. How can they sustain a business they can only wait on for people at the drive-through in 20 minutes? UPDATE-Another visit. This place has the best tasting chicken of all the Golden Chicks I have been to. I guess that's why I keep coming back. Today the service in the drive-through line was very quick. Crummy weather may have been a factor. Order was correct and gentlemen at the drive-through window was very courteous. However, I have to say this is probably the most pathetic piece of chicken I have ever received anywhere. (Thigh) It was so tiny. Look at the roll compared to the chicken thigh. LOL. The roll was amazing and melted in my mouth. I ate it on the way home. When I got home I dug out my food scales and weighed the chicken before eating. It was a big whopping 3.1 oz. After eating I weighed my bones. I got 2 1/2 oz of chicken. It was delicious but really? Was that the best piece you could pull out of your kitchen? I do have to give them credit though. Some chicken places will leave lots of skin and fat on the chicken. Then they over batter it and fry it and it ends up looking twice as big as what it really is. They did not do that. Most of that big whopping 3.1 oz was meat, But they were sure stingy with it. Some of the chicken places in the area will give you a second piece of chicken when they are very small. From someone that has worked in the service industry, this has to be the worst customer experience I have ever had on top of racial injustice. To start, I was in line for 15 minutes when upon ordering chicken tenders, I was told it would be ten minutes ams to park in the curbside pickup. (Not that big if deal) Twenty minutes later, I walk inside to check on the status of my order. Was then ignored by cashier for 2 or 3 minutes to the be greeted with "what's up." I tell him I have been waiting for my chicken tender orders for 30 minutes now for him to tell they were frozen. I said, "why wouldn't you tell people that and tell me 10 minutes?" I then asked him how long it would be and he said he was about to drop them now but yet I see the other two coworkers just standing around. I called that out to him and he says "do you see how people we have" with an attitude and I told him "that is not problem and don't tell people ten minutes and then never update them as that is terrible customer service." He then mumbled a few things and stormed off. Chicken tenders were then finished and put under heat lamp as I waited an additional 20 minutes. In the meantime, an African American man came in and asked where his kids meals were that he was waiting on for 20 minutes. The guy that stormed off then greeted him immediately and had coworkers give him his food as I still that there. Another 5 minutes goes by where I finally ask the girl, "where is my food as that guy came in way after me." The cashier comes back and asks for my ticket while it then took them another five minutes to finally get my food to me. The lack of care and urgency with every single person working tonight was just appalling and all of them should be fired. I am one of the least confrontational people but this situation upset me to my core. One last thing to mention, they were out of straws, fried chicken was frozen, chicken tenders were frozen, and multiple people came into get refunds or just walked out because the wait was too long. This location has always been a little slow but today was by far the worst. This location has to be costing more money than the what it's worth based on this experience. This is a pretty mediocre Golden Chick. I usually love every Golden Chick because they're pretty notorious for giving you extra tenders when you order but this one wasn't so generous. My brother and I ordered a 6 tender combo for dine-in and they gave us 6 tenders but two of them looked like half tenders. We got a side of corn nuggets. The corn tasted stale and they were more batter than anything else. The yeast roll was delicious though! It was very light, buttery, and melted in my mouth. When you dine in, you get a free cone so this would be a fun place to bring your kids for dinner and ice cream. Unfortunately, their soft serve machine was not working. Good thing there's a Braum's next door! Also, the employees were yelling at each other from across the restaurant, which did not make for a fantastic dining experience. There's another Golden Chick off Buckingham and Jupiter and that ones better in my opinion. read more
