Stopped by after ordering online. I received my food fairly quick. No problems. I ordered a 12 pc mixed roast/fried family. $43 and change. Two sides and 4 rolls. $43. Got home at Lake. In one box 4 piece of fried and four rolls. Plastic container had 4 pieces of roast. The sides were dirty rice/ mash, which was inedible. I'll include the photos. So I'm short chicken and sides that should have been thrown away. I go on same mobile app I ordered to lodge a complaint. Mind you this was 7:30 pm. No longer than I hit send my phone rings. It's the restaurant. What happens next was absolutely crazy. The employee says. "I watched the video tape. In one was 8 pc and the other had 4; So you weren't short". I'm almost laughed. I wanted to say if you saw all that you would surely have noticed the rice was horrible but I didn't. She was very certain my complaint was wrong. This wasn't hard to figure out. I asked for 6 pc of fried/ 6 pc of roast. I got 4 pc of fried. Math folks. At this point. I was exhausted. When I mentioned the rice she was more than fine with me driving it back to the store at 8 pm from 35 miles away. I ain't going to lie. I hung up. I'm not arguing over this. First time trying Golden Chick and this location made quite the impression. We ordered a family meal around 6:20 PM. The tenders were okay, but the biscuits looked like they had been through a bar fight -- flattened, torn, and definitely not the fluffy yeast biscuits you see in the pictures. The mac and cheese was also messy with cheese dripping down the outside of the container. While we were inside, multiple customers came in to report drive-through mistakes, which didn't inspire a lot of confidence that things were running smoothly tonight. The only reason I'm not giving it zero stars is because the meal didn't result in explosive gastrointestinal consequences -- so I suppose that's a win. read more

Another fail at this location. Did order online, paid for, just needed to pick it up. Went through the drive thru, pulled up to window 2. Asked to sign in? Told them I'm not a door dasher, manager made me come into the lobby, to wait in line...after I already ordered and paid online...what's the point of online order option? I stated that it was a personal order each time I was asked to sign it. Is it because I'm not white and I'm picking up near stone oak? I live in this area. Not once did they ask the white people in front of me to sign in for pick up hmmm racial profile much? I look for one thing when I walk into fast food establishment, Are the staff communicating? This Golden Chick store is constantly in communication and the manager is motivating her staff. They are very slow and frequently out of menu items. My order tonight was all soggy because they never told me the order was ready.

Great food, exactly what I wanted and did not disappoint! The only issues I had was there was 1/3 of sauce in both of my sauces I ordered. If they fill up their sauces I'd say 5 stars. read more

We ordered a 16 piece family meal through the drive through with 4 of them spicy. They asked us to park and wait. Took them 10 minutes to bring out the order. When we got home we didn't get the 4 spicy and some of the the chicken seemed like it was old because it was dry and tough. read more

Golden Chick on Foster Rd Sunday @6pm 11/03/24 Ordered a 3 piece which consist of a leg thigh and a wing and fries. Oh and the cashier didn't know English. So I didn't get the pieces that come with the meal.The chicken breast was DRy and the tigh was not cooked right it had breading under the crust and didn't get No fries which come with the order. So glad to see this place fully operational again. Friendly service with a slight language barrier. But the food that came out was accurate so we were fine. The worst location I have ever encountered. How can they screw up my orders 2 wks in a row? My 1s order was for roasted chicken and fries on March 7, 2025 around 3:30PM as I was on my way home from work. Once I got home and actually opened my order I had fried chicken. Then the next week March 14, 2025 at around 3:25PM I order roasted chicken with fries and the person on the headset asked me twice about my side order and I said fries twice; she put in okra instead. I hate okra; I don't eat okra and when I went back to the Gold Chick to complain the manager refused to give me a refund because I didn't want them to correct my order I was fed up with them messing up my order. read more

Food was delicious as always. The wait in the drive-thru however was not very fast or enjoyable. The girl at the window did her best but it is clear that English is not her strong language. She had me repeat my order 3 times which usually is not a big deal but when you've been waiting more then 5mins to get to the microphone, it was clearly not busy, and you're on a time crunch. We're in COVID. I ordered fish at drive thru. Asked to pull up because it needed to be cooked fresh. I pull up to spot 3, another car pulls up beside me. Young man takes my order to the car next to me, the occupants opened the bag and looked inside and they all realized it's not their order. He runs back inside and then he returns in less than a minute to the other car to let THEM know their error and then comes to me with the same order. I politely tell him I'm not taking that order because it's passed between him and another customer - all unmasked. He proceeds to tell me it's fresh. I RE emphasize my point. He goes back inside hugging and puffing. Something tells me to go inside, and there he is placing the same order in a different bag. It's not worth the hassle. They can keep the food and the money. After a lot of deliberation, I had to write this post. I have only eaten there twice, roughly 8 months apart, with both times ending with food poisoning. it's weird to have something like this to happen but both times were bad experiences as well. both times are really similar. drove up to the drive through yesterday. ordered catfish while my daughter ordered tenders. we included poppers and corn bites. that was $42! after we paid, we had to wait about 7 minutes for the food. went home joking how this fast food was more expensive than going to a restaurant. the chicken had some spice that was more salt than spice. fish was nothing to scream about either. about an hour after we both ate, we started to have an upset stomach. we've been puking and diarrhea since then. will never go back and will never recommend to anyone. read more

I was a little afraid to try this place based on some of the reviews but honestly, the food is good, especially for fast food. The fried chicken tastes similar to Popeye's, and the rotisserie is well seasoned and moist. I loved the corn nuggets as well. Definitely a good pick for a quick meal! read more

I've always liked Golden Chick. Their best menu item is their chicken strips. Crispy golden breading and the tenders are just that, tender. The gravy is on point although it can sometimes be a little thinned out on some days. The sides can be on the smaller side so you may want to double up if you have a larger group. Their buttered buns however, are phenomenal and we can never get enough. read more

WE made a quick stop here at the drive thru to get some chicken strips for lunch. When we got home and I opened my package the chicken strip looked somewhat different than my wife's. First bite told me that I got the chicken that had sat out too long. Hard and rubbery chicken and so was the batter. Compared to the wifes and hers was much better. Even the side of green beans that are usually pretty good were very bland. Seems to be my luck lately with fast food and especially the drive thrus. We always get the chicken tenders, fries and macaroni. Chicken tenders are always great, fries are always great, macaroni is always pretty good. Gravy is not always the best the last several times it has been very runny. Overall the food was great! Customer service was great. Drive thru was a little slow but it's not too bad. From what I could tell the Golden Chick gave off a very good vibe. This Golden Chick is very good and I recommend it. I will be back again! Tips: make sure you get light ice or Otherwise they fill the cup with at least 3/4 ice and very small amount of drink. Tips: Tuesday is typically Tender Tuesday. Golden Chick is exactly what it purports to be - decent fast food fried chicken. I had the chicken strips and they were crispy and well cooked. The chicken is flavorful. My wife had the fried chicken livers and said they were the best she'd ever had. Both of us had the fried okra as a side and they were quite flavorful. Is this a gourmet restaurant? No, but if you want good, fast drive thru chicken on your way home after a long day, this is a good place to try. read more

After placing my order online, to save time, I was told in the drive through that I had to go inside to pick up my order. Nowhere on the website did I see it mention this. The 4 employees were busy so I stood there for a little while. After giving me my order I went out the my car and something told me to look for my condiments. They were missing. I went back in to stand and wait a while longer to let them know none of the sauces were put in my bag. This location is one of the best in SATX. Well that was until my experience today. The GM customer service was unprofessional, and unwarranted. I requested to refund a portion of my order b/c I over ordered. I was notified while I was in the drive thru that they do not offer refunds. I asked where was it posted and was informed that it was on the door before entering the restaurant. The GM did offer to give me a replacement meal and would write my information in a book but not on my receipt. I tried taking a pic of the book but my phone was overheated and didn't capture the entire entry. The GM was yelling at me through the window stating they do not give refunds and to get out of her drive thru. I repeated several times "Ma'am I'm not asking for a refund. I would like for you to write that l'm entitled to a replacement meal." She basically said that all the proof I needed was what was in her book. I would've appreciated if the GM would have allowed me to speak & respected me just as I respected her. Purchased four piece chicken for $12.79 picture has photo of all four(Breast, wing, leg, thigh) since a requested a breast I was charged another $.99. Also ordered spicy wings. So I found out this place is franchised owned and I do not think they care because there are no responses from owner or the company. So I like this place. I work in a retail store within walking distance. I eat here probably 3x a week/too much and the quality is getting worse and worse. This is the last time. So yesterday the customer service was terrible and I think I even said WTF to myself when I drive off. Then food was terrible. It's like you are not cooking the chicken long enough. It's not crispy at all just warm bread on a chicken strip. Thats what I get every time 4pc chicken strip meal. Today customer service was on point. Like better than amazing but then food was terrible. It's the strips and the breading. Please cook/fry it longer. Someone in the kitchen cooking is doing a very bad job. Fix it.
