This is a simple place, part of the Bill Miller BBQ family. You order at the counter and then they deliver the food to your seat. Food: two grilled code plate. The shrimp and fish Mexican plate. Came here twice because I love the fish here. The cod is super fresh and comes out temperature cold. The fish is very fresh and well grilled and not overpowering with seasoning. The coleslaw is very delicious with the right balance of mayo to vinegar. The rice is very flavorful and not dry. The shrimp and fish Mexican plate is not spicy but super flavorful with generous shrimp and nice big piece of fish. The tomato's, onions, and jalapenos were fresh and grilled to perfection so it was slightly grilled and veggies were warmed through. I had the fisherman's platter fish filet, six fried shrimp, hush puppy, garlic bread, cup of gumbo and two sides). The husband had a fish and shrimp combo platter with two sides. He thought the batter was not as flavorful as it used to be. This is based on the flavor at another location we've been to on Rigsby, not here. We also had two iced teas. Our total was about $38. Maybe a bit high for a Bill Miller restaurant, but cheaper than other places. The staff is top notch. From entering the restaurant until you leave, they are welcoming, attentive and gracious. I had to leave a review for Richard. He was so awesome he brought my food to my car and when I noticed the sides weren't correct, without hesitation or sighs he went back and got my correct sides. He was very nice and respectful. He deserves a raise, not too many young people take at least "some pride" in their work he went above and beyond when he could have simply sent me back through the drive thru for my correct sides. read more

I am writing this review for Laguna Madre as I received it on DoorDash. I ordered the fisherman's platter and shrimp plate to be delivered. The high price was because of DoorDash not Laguna Madre... I just didn't feel like driving that day. I received my food on time and I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. The fish as crispy and the shrimp was clean and fresh tasting. I ordered fries, coleslaw, and tea. It was all great! I can't say much about the ambiance nor service as it was delivered but I bet it tastes even better eating it in restaurant. Then another person pulled up behind me and another worker asked what we ordered as if we weren't the only car around for the first ten minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the Bill Miller BBQ sister restaurant. We typically order our easy quick meals from Sea Island Shrimp House. This location is even closer to our home conveniently located just off of Loop 410. I had the lemon pepper fish; my husband had the cod and shrimp. The beans were tasty and not over cooked. The rice was nicely seasoned with celery and carrots. And instead of hush puppies (not everyone is a fan of a good HP) they serve Texas toast. Wine and beer is available as well. It's a little on the "industrial side" for decor and sound; honestly I've never dined at a Laguna Madre so I didn't know what to expect. They have a drive through and a teeny bit of outside dining. It's not high end fancy seafood dining so if that's what you're expecting; it's not for you. But if it's inexpensive, tasty and filling fish; go for it. read more

It's easy to rate one star when you leave empty handed. This was my first and last visit after my drive thru experience. When I pulled up at 7PM, I was literally the only car in the drive thru or parking lot (first clue). My order and payment was taken quickly. I was then asked to pull up to curbside and they'll bring out my order. After a 13 minute wait for grilled fish tacos, I called and was told it'd be another 5 minutes. Another 5 minutes!? How long does it take to grill fish?! I waited another minute and decided to leave. As I'm pulling out of the parking lot, I called back to ask to cancel my order. I was transferred to the manager and he then claimed they've been looking for me for a few minutes. I told him that's not possible because I literally just left and am at the light at 410/Nacogdoches. I asked that they cancel the transaction and he said he would. I don't know why more people don't talk about how good Laguna Madre is. Every time I eat there it is really good, fast, and reasonably priced. I really only eat at the location at NE 410 and Nacogdoches and it is always very clean. Might be odd to mention that but it's crazy how many places have dirty floors and bathrooms. The last several times I've eaten the fish and shrimp combo plate which costs $11.90. Comes with a fried cod filet, 6 fried shrimp, fries, cole slaw, bread, a hush puppy, and a tea. It is a very good sized portion for the price and quality. I also enjoy the fish tacos with the spicy sauce. When I'm eating loc carb I get the 2 piece grilled plate cod plate with double green beans for $14.85. I love heard the gumbo is good but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe next time. Go check this place out. It's a little busier right now during Lent but still reasonably quick. I usually order online and it is ready in 10-12 minutes. read more

This fish at this place is incredible. Eating it brought back memories of when my mom, dad and I would go out for fish. Hard to explain, but suffice to say it was a "Rattatouille" moment! What's funny is I think this is the only Laguna Madre that can do this.
