Pollo-Filete is Northside's answer to pollo asada. Although it pales in comparison to some of SA great places for Mexican-Cuban fusion style chicken, it does have its lane. Me and the wifey shared a parillada that included pollo, fajitas, sausage for the meats and rice & beans for the sides. Even though the pollo lacked enough of that highly desired Achiote spice, it was good enough to come back and order again. However the fajitas and sausage were a bit bland for my taste. I found it was definitely better when dipped into the green salsa first. The beans also needed a boost of flavor, so adding pepper and red salsa did the trick for me. The restaurant is clean, comfortable and worth dining inside for lunch, if you have the chance. This is in the neighborhood and I was able to walk here. It was dead when I arrived at noon and when I left it was just me 30 minutes later. It is at the end of a strip mall. The chef was super friendly. I ordered the spicy chipotle chicken sandwich and why not get the fries but did not realize fountain drink was included, huge 32oz fountain drink. They asked my name for the order but I looked around and it was just me. I got my order within 10 minutes and I enjoyed the entire place to myself with great music. Food: the chicken was piping temperature hot but lacked seasoning and flavor. I don't mind lack of seasoning but there was no chipotle and no spicy flavor at all. It was just breaded and deep fried chicken but it was breaded well with nice fresh tomato, crunchy iceberg lettuce, a few pickles. I did ask for jalapenos but could not find them. The description mentions pepper jack cheese but my sandwich did not have any cheese or the slice was so thin that I did not see or taste it. The chicken breast was tender, juicy and temperature hot but the breast to bun ratio was off. Too much bun compared to chicken breast and some bites were all bread. The curly fries were super temperature hot and perfect for me since there was no added salt. Who doesn't love curly fries?! Restaurant: very clean Bathrooms: very clean and separate men and woman stalls If you are craving crispy spicy chicken and you live in the neighborhood it is the closest place. Pollo Filete was a surprise experience. They are true to the scratch kitchen concept. Not your normal Fast Food. As you walk in, you realize that this place is something different. The restaurant decor is BBQ like. Our meal took a while to prepare but the wait was worth it. The cashier, who was also the waitress, brought the food to our table with a generous smile, and friendly attitude. We had wings and chicken strips which were cooked. Perfection arrived at the table hot and the wings are the only ones that had a bit of spice. In general, we enjoyed our meal, the ambience and the whole atmosphere. We will return. read more

I stopped by here because I moved and got a coupon in the mail for local eateries. My husband cannot eat pork for health reasons and they did a great job at making sure they answered all of his questions about any pork contamination and if the rice and beans or tortillas were prepared with pork and they made sure that everything was pork free. Absolutely amazing service! We ordered the pollo asado domingo, half chicken, with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. Wow!! The chicken is absolutely delicious, even the white meat which usually tends to be dry, was very juicy. The flavor was even throughout, not lacking anything. The grilled up and jalapeño and onion were the absolute chef's kiss. The beans were fabulous, the rice was a pinch undercooked and needed some flavor. I ordered the ensalada del sur with beef fajita. I got one ranch dressing, one jalapeño ranch. I wish I would've tasted them before putting them into my salad, the ranch was good, but the jalapeño ranch was super overpowering. The beef was tender, but I think they had just made the salad at that moment because there was quite a bit of water collected at the bottom so when I mixed everything, it wasn't really coded well and I could see all my seasoning in the water at the bottom of the bowl. We also ordered a flan from the dessert menu because almost everything else was sold out. It had more of a cheesecake texture than a custard texture, and the flavor was almost a bit more cinnamon than caramel, not too sweet, but not really what I look for when I order flan. We ended up going back and swapping it out for chocolate cake, which I did not taste, but my husband had a few bites and said it was good. The chicken was so delicious that I did go back the next day and ordered a whole chicken and a margarita to go through the drive-through, which is super convenient! The interior is very simple, just a nice place to go get a good meal. They have big screen TVs and they even changed the channel and put it on the NBA playoff game for us. This was our first time to try the new restaurant down the street from us, Pollo Filete. We preordered via the website and headed right over for pickup. It was ready quickly. We went through the drive through, were greeted immediately and our food was handed over. As soon as we got the food, the smell hit us. We knew it was going to be good, it smelled wonderful. The gentleman who greeted us offered us complimentary beverages for coming by, which was very nice. We got home and opened the everything up. It was packed with care and there is so much food. My husband and I ordered to share, but our 2 year old grazed and helped. There was so much leftover, which we didn't complain. The beef fajitas were so tender, melt in your mouth. The chicken was super moist and flavorful. Sausage was precut and had good flavor. The spanish rice, while a bit saltier than we are used to, was good. I had the power bowl which was served with a side of salsa and really enjoyed it. One of us had the chicken sandwich with curly fries and another had roasted chicken which he said had smoky flavors. The kiddie meal of quesadillas and curly fries was also good. The manager offered samples of margaritas and they also have bar choices of beer, wine and mixed drinks. GREAT FOOD! We came 15 minutes to closing time and the owner was very welcoming and took care of us. You don't come across that kind of hospitality often. Everything was hot and fresh. The corn in the cup was some of the best I have had in a long time! The chicken sandwiches are pretty big and the fajitas were tender.
