Great take-out restaurant. One of our favorites when we want to stay in, but want great Chinese food.

This (nearly) hidden gem is the best Chinese food in the area. It's a little difficult to find, and if you judge it by the exterior of the restaurant, you might inadvertently skip over some really great food. If you have a problem with the atmosphere, they deliver as well, or you can grab takeout. I personally love eating in. It's like having dinner in my grandmother's kitchen and the owners are unbelievably nice. There isn't a problem with portions as they are HUGE, and we always take some home. The hot and sour soup is the best I've found so far, they decently season everything and the cost is reasonable as well. Give it a shot if you're looking for big portions, and good American Chinese food that won't bankrupt you. Love this place and it's become my go to for Chinese food around here. read more

Have eaten here about a dozen times over the last few months. It is my new "go to" place for lunch. Dine in or take out, the food is usually ready really fast! Vegetable Lo Mein 5/5 Per my dining partner. Egg Drop Soup 5/5 Each table (or to-go order) receives a side of crunchy noodles - awesome with the egg drop soup! Hot & Sour Soup 5/5 You just have to try it. Quite spicy! Like the other soups, even better when you add crunchy noodles. Kung Pao Chicken 5/5. (Identical to Kung Pao Shrimp - see notes below). Kung Pao Beef 4/5 (MUCH, MUCH spicier than Kung Pao Chicken). The inconsistency is disappointing, as I couldn't completely enjoy the too-spicy-for-me dish. Roast pork Lo Mein 5/5 Really nice pieces of pork, yummy noodles, made more so by mixing each bite with the fried rice! My dining partner said the same. Hunan chicken (asked for "not too spicy") 5/5 Delicious! Tender, sliced chicken pieces, with onions and green bell pepper chunks, along with broccoli, bamboo shoots, snow peas, baby corn, and carrots in a spicy brown sauce. The spice level was just right. Kung Pao Shrimp 5/5 Just an all-around excellent dish! And get this - it's one of the lunch specials! Where else can you find a cup of delicious soup (or egg roll), fried rice, and a dish that includes FIVE large, perfectly cooked shrimp - all for $5.95? Lots of celery, along with carrots, diced bamboo shoots, and peanuts in a slightly spicy brown sauce. Roast Pork Mei Fun 1/5 Really didn't care for this dish. Too sweet without any other flavors to offset. B-B-Q Ribs 2/5 Yes, I've seen that other Yelpers love these, but the sweet glaze permeated the ribs without anything else for balance. While I usually order steamed white rice, I recommend the default pork fried rice, which pairs really well with the dishes we've tried. It's a small and unassuming Chinese restaurant off frontage road of Rayford Rd and I-45. We saw the reviews so we figured that we'll give this one a try. The restaurant is not that big, a few tables and a few booth tables by the window overlooking the traffic. Our waiter was friendly and courteous. We ordered boneless ribs, beef on a stick, egg drop soup, general Tso and egg foo young. We have tried several Chinese restaurants in the area so far we like this restaurant. My cup of egg drop soup was very tasty. The egg was cooked perfectly! I had the house special egg foo young, it did taste like your typical egg foo young but I liked the brown sauce that went with it. Normally they put too much garlic in the sauce, but not this one. I could only eat one patty and had to take the rest home. It still tasted perfect the day after. Just had to re-fry it again. The rest of the family had general Tso chicken. I tried a few pieces of the chicken. I liked that the chicken pieces were not cut into big chunks compared to the other Chinese restaurants general Tso's around here. The batter on the chicken gave it just enough crunch and the sauce wasn't too spicy. My husband liked the boneless barbecue ribs and beef on a stick. The beef was seasoned well and was very tender. We always take the rest home for next day meal and they still enjoyed the left overs. Everything tasted fresh and made with care, not your typical rush-made Chinese food that one would normally get. I loved going to Golden China. I went and picked up wonton soup. Our wontons had metal wires in them. I called and let them know. They said I could drive all the way back and pick up more but no thanks, I don't want to eat any more metal. No offering for refund. Just more of their metal soup. read more

I used to come here a couple of times and had no problem with there food up until recently this week I made my usual order which is the general chicken and decided to add some soup along with it . I was utterly disgusted When I arrived to my destination I open my soup, and there was two noticeable bugs inside the rim of my soup. I was highly disappointed because I was actually liking the restaurant, but I will not be coming back, and now it makes me question. Absolutely horrible. The fried rice was brown, and that was it. No vegetables, no egg, hardly any pork, no flavor at all. The orange chicken tasted like it was sitting out for awhile, deep fried mush. The wonton soup was decent, that was the only positive star I can give the place. The order came out fast, which is always a flag for me, since the food is already prepared and the place is just reheating it, as opposed to cooking it fresh. They brought out fried won ton strips and sweet and sour sauce. I ordered Crab Rangoons as an appetizer. For an entrée I ordered Hot & Sour soup and the Pepper Steak w/Onion. Everything arrived promptly and piping hot. Although I ordered the small Hot & Sour soup it was a regular sized bowl. The portions were large, I could only eat half of what I ordered and I carried the remaining portion back to my room for later. Overall the food quality and the service was excellent. Steamed pork dumplings - sauce is a bit spicy but flavorful, dumplings a little on the oily side but overall really good. Chicken lo mein- A+! They don't put celery in it like other places Lemon chicken - actual chicken breast coated with a crispy crust and sliced. The meal only comes with white rice which is unfortunate BC the fried rice is good but worth it House fried rice - comes with all the meats. Chicken, beef, shrimp. The only not so great thing was that the egg roll that came with it is only pork. I feel like they should give a vegetarian option! However, other than that the food was great for a good price ! Being from NYC and having Chinese food there makes it very difficult to enjoy Chinese food in Houston, which is usually not so great. All of the food was delicious and hot and I was very impressed with the presentation of the food... It's served in bento boxes vs. the standard styrofoam box. Food is quickly delivered though some of us got our plates a few mins before the rest of us. Also, we were only half way through our soups when entrees came.
