Horrible food. Everything tasted like leftovers warmed up again. No eggs on the buffet the entire 50 minutes I was there, despite the fact it was a Saturday morning brunch buffet. The guy making omelettes to order never acknowledged my presence, even when I was the only one waiting to order. Finally gave up and decided to settle for a hamburger, because they were just coming off the grill. Well, this is the last time we will be here. The last few times we've come in the food was cold. It is steaming on the bar, by the time it gets to the table it's cold. We also saw the big bucket of eggs in the kitchen sitting on the counter ( getting cold) then they bring it out to refill the steamer, well they dont sit in it long enough to get warm let alone hot. Been here twice and have had a horrible experience both times. Chicken was barely done and the food was not near fresh. The strawberries were rotten, the lettuce for salads had water in the bottom of the bowl. Therefore the lettuce was wet. The clam chowder had a fowl smell and taste. So that was old. I've experienced a lot better from the same location. My wife and I used to go to this location 1-2 times a month, breakfast and dinner... but here lately (for the last 6 months or so) the food has been so so. I'm writing this review because there have been major issues with quality control for months now. Below are my findings from my last experience on 5/17/2015: The pot roast was dry, tough and had no gravy. The sweet peas looked like they have been in the same water for who knows how many hours. They were turning light green and were shriveled up like raisins. Wait, there is more...their hush puppies where old, hard and dehydrated mixed in with the fresh. Brown gravy is no longer on both sides of the buffet. When there used to be one next to the mashed potatoes and one where the pot roast is located. Maybe that's the reason why there was no gravy in the pot roast? I ordered a stake rare, asked for a 2nd one and instead got one that was raw and the other medium well. I did not see the gentleman that used to run the grill... maybe the gentleman that's running the grill now is new or in training? I tried the their bourbon chicken and pulled pork (without barbecue souse)...both where dry just like their roast. The corn on the cob had brown kernels all over them (15+ rotten kernels each). I was able to find one good one out of about 12 cobs or so that had no bad ones. What's even worse, management cleaned around the container and did not see anything wrong with it. When confronted, the manager denied being anywhere near the corn. However, she said she was sorry and that she didn't see it once I told her that she was cleaning the counter around it 10 minutes prior. There is no excuse for a manager that has been working at the same location for many years to NOT see the rotten corn, dried out or over cooked vegetables and meat. The popcorn shrimps I absolutely enjoyed...two thumbs up for that one Golden Coral! Overall, we had a bad experience and will not be dining at Golden Coral at 3546 Clemson Boulevard, Anderson, SC ever again. The food is piping hot fresh. The baked fish was a gooey mushy mess but the fried fish and shrimp was delicious. They have homemade BBQ chips! There is so much variety and the staff are super friendly. We were impressed on out first visit how the staff knew their regulars so well, even letting them know that their favorite food was refilled. It is worth the drive from Greenwood. We've gone twice on Sunday afternoons and even though it was packed, the fellow diners and staff were all very respectful to each other. The only negative is the salad bar gal who was chopping SO loud for the whole duration of our meal. Several other diners were mentioning to their servers that it was loud. I understand the need to chop 100 cucumbers is cumbersome but it was annoying. We will not sit near the salad bar again. The dessert bar is fun with a chocolate fountain and fresh made cotton candy. I personally wouldn't use the chocolate fountain because our society can be a bit gross with etiquette and one can only imagine the fingers casually dipping into it. Hello. I am writing this review to express my opinion on the breakfast bar. First, let's talk about this syrup. It was extremely runny. I ran faster than water. My pancakes were CRUNCHY!!! This is not okay. I thought pancakes were supposed to be light and fluffy. They crunched more than chips. The grits looked like milk. This was not the soup bar. The biscuits tasted like paper. We could've used some butter. Tater tots were overcooked. Chicken and waffles lacked the waffles. The skillet hash browns were burned. When my family plus one finished our meals we headed straight to the bathroom. It came out tooooooo quick and not solid. Don't get me started on the employees.
