My hubby and I were looking for a fun spot to grab dinner and catch the World Cup, and we're so glad we stumbled upon this place while walking through downtown Anderson! From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Billy B was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious--it definitely did not disappoint! The drinks were great too, and the bartenders kept us laughing the whole time. The atmosphere was perfect for watching the game and enjoying a night out. We enjoyed everything so much that we completely forgot to take pictures before we devoured our food! Came here a few weeks ago, service was great but the manager Eileen was incredibly rude.

I should not even given one star!!!!! terrible food/ steak so tuff could not cut - could not chew salad and bread all that was fit to be consumed by a human. terrible service worse place i have ever been to. i am sure they did not want this review!!!! will never recommend or come there again! need management change -- rude lady came to my table to find out why my meal was so bad. she said do you want anything else??? it was a good resturant in the past but not now. read more

Had a great lunch at J Peter's today. We shared the She Crab Soup for our appetizer. Hubby got the burger and fries. I didn't try his burger but he said it was good. I did enjoy helping him eat his fries with the honey mustard bbq sauce our server recommended. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad with Warm Bacon Dijon Vinaigrette! If they sold bottles of that I'd buy. It also came with a nice buttery c flaky croissant with a honey drizzle. I could eat 10 of those! Nice ambiance and the server was great! We used to LOVE this restaurant when they first opened in Anderson.. But it has definitely fell off since then. Portions have gotten a lot smaller, prices are unreasonable ($10 for an extra SIDE of Alfredo sauce for the pasta), and the food is bland! It's sad when the house salad is the highlight of the meal. Service was also a little slow.. I remember the establishment being fancier, but now it's giving bar vibes. Overall, it was a decent experience. My parents treated me to dinner here, in downtown Anderson. It's a corner location of an old building converted into restaurant, I assume because there is a lot of wood paneling throughout. The menu has prices ranging from $14 for salad to $22 entree and higher. We were there on a Sunday evening around 6pm was sparse crowd. I ordered fried flounder with collard greens, it was about as good as flounder can be w cocktail & tarter sauce. My parents both had salads; all the entrees came with a honey glazed croissant. Restaurant is filthy, walk to bathroom and you realize kitchen is gross too. Crossiants are being stored and just left open by the BATHROOM. It doesn't look like they sweep or anything between guest. Our server Billy/Billie was actually great and I hate that he's even in this place could be making more money. A lot of servers just walking around awkwardly complaining about customers coming in, or that could have been the host complaining unsure either way weird complaining about money coming in the door. The angry shrimp were good strong seafood smell but taste good. Cheese fries was a huge portion but all the toppings in middle and not even a drop of salt on the fries. Usually one of our favorites but sadly we will not return. One member of the party ordered the prime rib. It was truly inedible. It had no flavor, was tough, dry and was clearly not cooked the same day. But that was not the worst of it. The server said she would get the manager. We waited and waited and she kept coming back to say the manager would be here to look at it. Anyone could see it needed to be taken off the bill but the server was not empowered to do that. She said the manager has to come to the table. After 20 mins or more of waiting, she said, "he's in the phone with somebody important." Is anyone more important than the paying customer? Finally, she took the plate to him and she returned with a new bill. There were some other odd behaviors that made me question my safety at this restaurant. While in the Simpsonville area, J Peters was my go to for dinner on a cool rainy afternoon. I was not feeling going home to cook. I made a to go order, and went by to pick it up. It took about fifteen minutes and it was ready when I got there. I ordered the chicken tender platter with the house salad and the house dressing, a hot bacon and honey mustard dressing. For my side I got the loaded mashed potatoes. My food was only ok, the chicken tenders were crunchy and a little on the dry side. The bacon on the salad and the loaded mashed potatoes had been cooked but it wasn't crispy bacon. The salad was good and a nice size. For the price I had more than enough food, the quality and taste of the food just wasn't what it use to be. read more

Visited 3/5/2020 - Drove from Atlanta to meet my girlfriend who was in Anderson, SC for a business conference. Upon checking in at the Bleckley Inn on Thursday afternoon, it was time for a much needed happy hour. Our waitress/bartender was so nice, and although we forgot her name, we def took shots in her behalf because it was her birthday. We ate here on a Sat at lunch. The place was half empty. Prices seem to have skyrocked. Service was very good. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was super busy--making drinks for the restaurant, waiting on people at the bar, waiting on the 5-6 tables in the bar area, taking to-go orders on the phone,...she handled it all very well and was pleasant and efficient. The flounder was a little fishy but the chicken tenders were good. The typical salad that came with out meal was just okay...some big chunks of yellow, hard-packed lettuce with less than usual tomatoes, bacon, and ham. Sides left a lot to be desired with cold fries and cold loaded mashed potatoes (the cheese sprinkled on top didn't even begin to melt). Not near what it used to be. read more

I have not been to J Peters in years but I was craving their honey glazed croissants. Today's lunch was pleasing to the tastebuds and stomach. Waitress was really sweet (cannot remember her name!). I got the potato soup and half a club for lunch. The potato soup was probably the best potato soup I have had in many years. It's better than Panera's! Trust me - it had so much flavor, good chunks of potato, cheese...not enough bacon....but it was SO GOOD. I would eat that everyday if I could. The club sandwich was delicious. The cheese on it was a little funky to me but overall, it was great. If you're needing a new place to check out or you haven't been here in awhile, get the club and potato soup. We ordered from the early bird menu which was like a lunch menu. Smaller portions and a little less expensive. We ordered a appetizer, three meals, two glasses of wine and soda. The cost was $90.00 plus dollars and I left a $27.00 tip for the server. I asked about a military discount and the server said she would check. They honored the military discount and gave me $1.50 off my bill of over $90.00. I asked if that $1.50 was correct. The server said because we ordered off the early bird menu that it didn't qualify for a discount on everything we ordered. I am somewhat disappointed on that amount of discount for $90.00 in sales. It was a small chicken breast topped with lunch meat ham from a value pack you would buy from Walmart with a strip of bacon and a slice of Kraft single cheese for $20. You can tell when the conversations are lively and laughs can be heard. I decided on the soup and salad combo. I was not extremely hungry so I thought this would be a lite choice. I was mistaken. House salad was generous and the honey croissant was delicious. So your asking why only 4 stars. It was the dressing. They give you a big portion of hot bacon and honey mustard. Ok so it's my mistake. I used most of it. I had a choice of she crab or potato soup. Not going to lie, I was leaning toward she crab. But, Parryon my waiter made a suggestion for the potato. Dining in is great but going in, physically ordering from the bartender did not give me what we ordered. 4 things were completely wrong but too late for when I got it home. Ordered one rare prime rib, this looked exactly like the one other one that we ordered medium...brown on most of the outside and slightly pink in the center. Ordered french fries with this one, got mashed potatoes. Ordered Balsamic dressing, got Ranch. Also ordered a cheese burger with house salad. Bartender said it should be discounted $5.99 for the salad. Got charged $8.99. Called the manager for my $2 back and she said it shouldn't be on the web for $5.99. Seriously, who wrote the website? Then I told her the bartender also said it, its in the computer that way, then she said she'd refund my $2. $2 is no big deal, but what really upset me was the order was all messed up! Manager apologized and that was that. I'm new to the area but in PA they would have have given some kind of compensation for it being that messed up. Manager acted like my $2 was it. Terrible experience trying to place a catering order, with the smart as$ who answered the phone. They should write on their menu: NO CATERING ORDERS, we are too stupid and incompetent to provide this service. Should have chosen another business that cared, but they had already delayed our lunch by an hour by poor customer service. Unfortunately the food quality did not help the cause. Giant chunks of iceberg lettuce with the hard stem were plated, typical for poorly run restaurants, especially in to go orders where you can't send it back. I love J Perters for a good meal and great service. If I see one I stop. We went to the Anderson location after at day at the Civic Center for a trade show. Snowy and cold but the atmosphere as always is warm and inviting. We were seated and our waiter came a took our order and was VERY personable. My wife had the Baked Potato soup, the Chicken Casdilla and the Apple Crisp for dessert. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich with fries and a house salad. I love their salads. I don't think the wife took more than 3 min to wolf down the soup not talking and making yummi noises. I cant say anything I was work hard on my salad. She loved her main. I loved the pRime rib sandwich. It was my first time having it, and will not be my last. The Apple Crisp was warm a gooey with 2 scoops of vanilla icecream melting in to it. It was great. Delicious food and very tasty. It reminds me of good old Southern food. No reservation accepted unless it's a large party group. The proportion of food is medium size and if you are not too hungry maybe you can bring some leftovers. The service was kind of mediocre. The waiter forgot to bring appetizer and one of main entree dish. We waited a bit longer for our appetizer and the salad was brought out to us first. The one thing I didn't like is the smell of the food which overwhelmed the entire area. I think they need a better ventilation. I came out there smelling like a barbecue delight. If I am ever to go back there again, I will ask to be seated by the entrance which divides the kitchen/ bar and it's main dining area. I will also go there in jeans and probably save the shower for later. I am not sure if it is always like that but more ventilation would be a good investment. read more

Generous portions ... the house salad is very yummy, especially with the house dressing. The topper is a warm, fresh croissant with a little icing drizzled on it. Love these. Ribs are tender plus tasty. Mashed potatoes are covered with cheese, or loaded, or just plain. A chicken tender plate had 8 tenders! Sweet potato waffle fries are a must try.
