Each year, just before Veterans Day, our DAV Chapter sets up a table at Golden Corral in Cumming as part of their long-standing partnership with the Disabled American Veterans organization. For 25 years, Golden Corral restaurants across the country have teamed up with DAV Chapters to help raise funds that directly support veterans and their families. Earlier this year, we also joined Golden Corral in raising money for Camp Corral, a wonderful program that provides a life-changing summer camp experience for the children of wounded and fallen service members. Unfortunately, this location experienced a setback due to a fire that temporarily disrupted operations and limited our fundraising efforts. The good news is that Golden Corral Cumming is now fully renovated and back in business--better than ever! The restaurant looks great, the food is as good as always, and the staff continues to provide outstanding service to our community. I'm glad the place got painted. It's very nice inside however I'm absolutely a hoard with the fact that I would end with myself. I'm a senior and my daughter and her friend and I ended up paying $67 for three meals. Then I paid 24 for two to go containers. I will never go back. The rebuild and redesign of this restaurant is absolutely amazing. I must say I was very impressed with the brightness and color scheme. If Golden Corral would do this at their other locations it would be a game changer for the company. It was a great dining experience and I will be eating there much more often. First, the rating here is based on the staff as they are always kind and helpful. But there's an old saying: if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig. The place was recently renovated due to a fire, but that has nothing to do with the breakfast food quality. It was beyond awful. Bacon didn't taste like bacon. Biscuits has some butter goo on top of them which gave them an odd taste. The grits were indescribably bad. After experiencing those three items, I was afraid to try anything else. Today I went to this Golden Corral for dinner and to take a break from the kitchen. Let me say something, the food is really good and they have a vast selection of dishes. The employees are very nice and attentive. There was one employee name Penelope and she went above and beyond with her customer service. She asked how everything is and she even provided more drinks for us. I just want to say thank you Penelope for being so supportive and for being kind to us. The food is always good and service/staff is usually pleasant and helpful. My only complaint is about the cashiers at the entrance, purposely didn't tell us the restaurant closed at 9pm, when we arrived at 8:40. Naturally one would think they would mention that, especially before we've payed to dine for the now race to get to everything experience! The classic American buffet experience. Golden Corral has been around for beyond my lifespan. I came here for breakfast with my family and we enjoyed delicious food and quality service from our server. To start, the GC coffee is always so delicious and smells wonderful. Can't beat it! Definitely recommend it, even if it's not just for breakfast. During the breakfast hours, they serve all your classic breakfast options: eggs (served a variety of ways), meats, and all the helpings! They have standard scrambled eggs ready for you, but there is also an egg/omelette station if you'd like to make a custom omelet. Pro-tip: you can also ask them to make a sunny side up or over easy egg here. Love that they do still have the salad bar and dessert tables open, so if you are wanting a little more than the regular breakfast fixins, you can add more. read more

Visited the GCB&G in Duluth! Not my favorite. Winder is the best! The people are friendliest at the Winder GA location and the food is fresh and cooked to perfection. My experience at the Duluth location was ok. We brought a small group of 6 people and the server was upset because we want to use a 6 top and a 4 top. Maria, she was not friendly at all and often collected soiled dishes and provided clean dishes. I did not observe her wash her hands between doing each if they activities nor was she exchanging gloves. The NRA and Health dept indicates that the same person that collects soiled dishes should not provide clean plates and utensils. Without properly washing their hands in between these activities. Given the rate that dirty dishes are collected, it appears that GC needs to evaluate its food safety practices to ensure its following recommended guidelines. Additionally food held in the buffet should be held at 140 degrees. I retrieved some fish that was below 140 as it was cool to touch. Additionally utensils used on a buffet should be 14 inches in length to prevent hands from coming into contact with food. Some of their utensils measure only 12 inches in length. The good thing is they do provide gloves for you to use however not many people are aware and they only have them in one place. While I noted a couple things I would say they have great food and deserts. GC has become one of my favorite places to eat. I am not a fan of Gainesville, Cumming or Duluth locations. I would recommend you try Winder it has a small town feel and hospitality. Which is missing at the other locations. Stop in a give them a try. The group I bought with me didn't want to come to GC they didn't think it would be great! Once we arrived, sat down and had a couple different meal options they fell in love with GC all over again. Update 4/19/21: It's been over a year since I been to this Golden Coral. With the Coviad in 2020 and most buffets being closed, it was a warm welcome to come back here once again. I came on a Monday night and there was plenty of parking in the huge spacious parking lot. Golden Coral closes at 9:00pm every night. The price for each adult buffet was $13.99 on the weekdays and I believe $14.99 on the weekends. There was signs to wear a mask while entering the restaurant. The employee was wearing a mask. There was no temperature checks when you enter. Seating was spaced out and I didn't feel like I was cramped in. There was definitely a 6 feet rule here. (Thank you!! lol) It appeared that everybody was wearing a mask while you went to get your food. They provided blue gloves for you to use while getting your food. Plates are given by the waiter/waitress only as it makes sense. Food was delicious and fresh as usual at this location. Employees were super nice here as well. I really love the steak here and can never get tired of it. They had alittle less variety in the dessert bar as there isn't any chocolate dipping fountain anymore due to the Coviad. The soup bar here was alittle old and needed to be refilled. But then again who comes to Golden Coral for the soups? The fresh fried chicken was super delicious surprisingly. I do love their soft serve chocolate ice cream. Anyways, the buffet food is about quantity not quality. If your looking for your buffet fix, I definitely recommend coming to this Golden Coral but definitely hit it up during prime hours or the food won't be as fresh. The Cumming Golden Corral is one of the best I've ever eaten at and they use high quality ingredients and components. Their pot roast the night of 2/8/24 was excellent, moist, tender and savory. The baked fish, tender, flaky and well seasoned. Their tortilla chips & taco shells were fried fresh, crunchy, thin, tasty, and reminded me of ones at a famous Mexican chain in Texas. The tortillas were clearly fried fresh there and I could tell this location is going the extra mile by doing that. I ate quite a bit that night, and as a former restaurant owner kept an eye out on the great things they were doing and using. For example at the salad bar I saw them pouring Ken's brand food service ranch, That's a legit, high end ranch product, they should post a sign in the window they proudly use that dressing. On the dessert bar, they were dispensing Albanese gummies, a very high end product too. On to the food, their crab salad was great, the rolls were hot and fluffy, broccoli salad was delish, popcorn shrimp crunchy, fresh made pico de gallo was top notch, Mac and cheese creamy and as always the carrot cake and fudgy brownies were delectable. The icing on the carrot cake was moist and creamy. I could only eat so much, everything looked great and this was at 8:45 PM on a Thursday night. They were grilling steaks but I didn't have room left but they looked moist and tender. I also noticed they sell food off the bar to go by the pound at $8.99 which is very reasonable. My evening dinner buffet was $17.11 with tax with a cup of water. The only thing I felt that was missing was I could have used some salsa or taco sauce but couldn't find any but having thick rich, sour cream and that chunky fresh Pico was great !! As usual, Golden Corral was more than adequate. I chose this for a Father's Day dinner with my family. I figured there were plenty of choices for 7 adults and 2 kids. I was correct. It was pretty busy. I have never been there for dinner so I was a little shocked. Anyways almost everything was good. Fried chicken was ok. Baked chicken was the BOMB! I had a few pieces of steak and they were good. Not tough and tasted pretty good. Wasn't excited about the bacon ranch chicken. Shrimp was good! Meatloaf was mediocre loaf . Dessert bar always looks so good and never fails to disappoint me. I stuck with the bread pudding which is pretty good. All in all decent place and decent food. read more

It always amazes me how people go to GC or buffets in general expecting some 4 Star dining experience. If that's your expectation then go to a full service restaurant. That being said, the food has been decent along with the limited service you receive. Again, it's not that type of establishment. This location has been renovated due to a fire and they did a nice job giving it a more open feel. The biggest problem with this location as is the same at all of them, the customers in general. Too many of them act as if they're the only people there, cutting you off, standing in the middle of aisles, letting kids be noisy and run around. Or just taking forever to get what they want. Maybe at times some of the food could be hotter and the items that require carving doest't always have someone readily available. They're sometime not great about listing what all the items are. Must wear your mask when going to the serving line and put on a blue set I g glove when touching utensils. It is a toss-up, Golden Corral in Gainesville, or the one in Cummings? We were actually closer to this one in Cummings. It is a nice building that you can't miss. Although the parking lot seemed busy, the Golden Corral is large with several dining areas to choose from. The four of us are having lunch. We like the table nearest the salad bar. It is easy to get a plate and start your lunch with soup/Chowder and a fresh green chopped lettuce and cucumber salad. That was a fine start, and now let's check out the large section for hot foods. I start with the fried chicken and add some green beans and catfish and a piece of meatloaf. Yes, there was a second plate of interesting cuts of protein and broccoli greens. One of the proteins was in the form of a large hot dog. That was one of the best hot dogs I've had in a long time. Our wait staff was very good at making sure our drinks were filled and our plates were removed. Time for dessert. Wow, a fast array of sweets, cakes, pies, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and let's not forget pudding and soft serve ice cream. Golden Corral knows precisely the way to close out a meal by having lots of good sweet choices. A wonderful way to end our trip to Cummings. read more

Golden Corral is a timeless classic. Definitely only really came here during my childhood. I just recently started eating here again after basketball on Saturdays. You really can't beat the value from a 10.99 buffet lunch. Golden Corral honestly has one of the best fried chicken and side options. Don't sleep on the chance to try this. There is lots of traditional American food, from BBQ, to cheeseburgers, to salads, to soups, to steaks (during dinner only). First ... the staff was kind, attentive and provided excellent service. But, I do not understand why people come here. I can understand the buffet might be fun and accommodate a lot of different peoples taste, but not one thing taste good. The food is flavorless, visually un appealing and the place needs a deep cleaning ... which would include the dishes. There is a smell that I do not recognize, but turns my stomach. If you eat here ... I recommend sticking to the salad bar. If you own this place, please put some effort into making the food taste better. Seems like such a waste of food. Well, when looking for good fried chicken when in Cumming, we find ourselves baffled as we just can't seem to find a place other than Golden Corral that has both dark and white meat chicken. My mom is a dark meat chicken eater and even Cracker Barrel doesn't have it, the KFC here is awful, so why not do our random visits here. This is a hit and miss location . Very mixed crowd, service and food quality but the salad bar really is quite good, lots of choices of geens- spinach, mixed greens, bib lettuce and tons of toppings from eggs, bacon , cheese ,beets to nuts, berries and dressings. so to start, we always get a salad and it is quite good. The hot food line is a buffet of GC made products that does have pretty good chicken when freshly cooked- todays ours was friend to a crispy crunch at least twice... tough, dry... to other meat selection now including sliders, roast beef, turkey, meatloaf, fried catfish- that are mostly .. ehhh. I couldn't eat a piece of catfish- just too rubbery and not crunchy but it has been before- so timing. (We came at 2- tried to miss the crowd so best time is 4 when old food is out and new comes back in but so does the crowd. My fav is the veggies. Turnip greens, green beans, black eyed peas, corn, carrots, broccoli, . The mashed taters are watered down to keep runny- ( awful) and gravy white or brown is a risk of life sometimes. So I stay away from the starch and stick with greens. Mom likes the corn and broccoli ... They now have breakfast all day - which got me excited cause I will splurge on bacon but I think it soaks in grease- not bacon grease- to make it shine and I did get some - let its it on some napkins for a while and after the grease ate through the table- then I tried it. Not good. Scrabbled eggs were also sitting in water so trusting they were mixed 30/70 eggs with water to scramble so didn't got there. The do have popcorn shrimp, which are ok, friend okra is pretty good and their Asian chicken pieces are pretty good to... there is so much. Not to miss the desert bar. A kids dream, a dieters nightmare- from piles of berries, marshmallows, waiting to dip into the chocolate fountain ( this is a huge mess but people seem to flock to it). Pies, cakes, ice cream machines for orange sherbet , vanilla and chocolate and mixed- ( ok , I like a small cone with a mix of all- very small).... then toppings - m&ms, gummy bears, sprinkles etc... All in all , a ton of food options- good salad bar- good chicken if you get it fresh- all for $8 or so- so when in need of a mix- this is not so bad. Most servers speak little English ( so NOT CUMMMING GA Circa 1975!!) and the crowd is also very ...mixed - i don't like all the kids running around some days- but today- mostly seniors or guys like me taking their elderly moms out and not so crowded at 2-3. So eat at your own risk- definitely hit the salad bar- and watch the buffet so you get the fresh cooked stuff on your trips up. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on the buffet. We had seen the ads on TV but ads can be deceiving. We were not disappointed. We stopped in for lunch after the rush. We paid at the front and proceeded to choose a table. There were three sections: Main dishes and sides, salad bar and desserts. We proceeded right to the main dishes. There was a large selection including fried chicken, some type of stir fried beef, fried fish fillets and a large assortment of fresh vegetables, potatoes and other selections. There was also a taco/nacho bar and an assortment of pastas and sauces, plus pizza. There was a ham that was sliced for me. Bread, corn bread and other things that I am forgetting rounded out this section. I enjoyed everything I selected and was very pleased to note the vegetables were all fresh, not canned or frozen. I had the carrots and green beans (cooked with ham, so good!). I also had the beef, the fried chicken, the hot wings and the ham. My husband made several trips. The salad bar was large with many selections as well as several types of soup including New England Clam Chowder, Chili and some type of vegetable soup. There as an extensive desert area, including pie, an assortment of cakes, cobbler, jello, chocolate covered strawberries (delicious and very fresh), chocolate pudding as well as a soft serve machine with cones and toppings. The incomparable Dominique was our server. He introduced himself and kept our dishes removed and out drink refills coming. We appreciated his friendly attitude and the way he was quick to clear tables as patrons left. Breakfast was enormous! Blueberry muffins although small were delicious. Fruit lacked full on flavor but they had an abundance of it and it was nicely presented. Ham was sub par and biscuits were hard and lackluster. Fried chicken was very fresh and tasty . I was surprised to see it on the menu. A full salad bar was available too. Big people frequent buffets and this one was no exception. Breads were very well done. Steak was on the menu even though every time I try it here it is too tough to eat.
