We're from out of town, checked online to make sure they had breakfast, we went there last month. The website said breakfast served from 8:00am till 10:30am Friday through Sunday. Showed up at 8:30am on Friday the Friday morning was greeted and told that they don't open until 10:30am, so I asked about breakfast and was told that they no longer serve breakfast on Fridays. We live between Lafayette and Lake Charles and they serve breakfast in Lake Charles. It's soo aggravating when you look up the website to make sure you don't drive all the way there for nothing and ended up doing it anyway because they're too lazy to update their website!! GC was my go to after my VA appointments. The food got progressively worse. Our last visit we sat by the windows. The blinds had a years worth of dust on them and a roach crawled on our table. I list my appetite and left. We did politely let our waitress know and they did ask what we could do to remedy it. We said just clean the blinds. Roaches can be tricky I know. But come on yall can't tell me you don't see the blinds. Not going back anytime soon. read more

The staff that worked on 9/1/23 5:25pm-6:30pm All is horrible, food wasn't replenished, manager didn't give a F. Waitresses wasn't attentive. I got tired of waiting for food and just left. Only good that they had up there was mostly vegetables. We won't return and I will spread the word. That female manager is only there for a check and she and those so called cooks is bringing this GC down badly. I give it maybe one more year and it'll be closed. Racist staff walked in and Chasity D who was working around 5:57pm immediately gave attitude and was very rude when I showed disapproval even after speaking to her in english asked me "do you understand what im saying do you speak English " and also mocked me while i walked away saying "No comprede?" food was also below average all of it looked like it was sitting out for a while and didnt have much options would not recommend avoid it and go to wendys or smth read more

The food is slop. Go to any other Golden Corral in the country and you will get markedly better food. The variety of food is limited. I was verbally assaulted by a team member when I complained to a manager about the number of dishes that were empty. I've found rotten lettuce in the salad bar. I've had bloody fried chicken. Once there were NO clean plates in any of the plate stands. Go to the Golden Corral in Baton Rouge and Hammond and you will think you are at a completely different restaurant chain. I was there once when 2 team members had a screaming match in the dining room. I've spoke to the general manager 'Tad' twice, filled out the survey from the cash register receipt as well as walked out once after paying for my meal because the food was so old, but nothing changes. read more

So... I am not a big fan of golden Corral... at all. (see previous reviews - New Orleans) So... Why would you eat there? you might ask... Well... I just moved to Lafayette... and we were at that stage of moving where all of our stuff was packed in a truck, we were hot and sweaty and tired, we didn't know our way around town, and of course there is nothing in the fridge at the new house,. and here is Golden Corral staring at us in the windshield with a smirk and a dirty dishrag in her hands. Well... here's the thinking... Golden Corral has food ready NOW, it's gonna be hot(ish) and ready, there's gonna be a lot of variety, and I can eat as much as I want, NOW... even if it's fair to mediocre... we are in survival mode... plus, where else can you find a kick ass salad bar these days? and I loves me a good salad bar. So... We stop, against our better judgement. and guess what? I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the best meals we've had in the longest time. Now, I don't know if it's just this location... but every.single.thing. was the complete. opposite. of my complaints. in the past. It was clean. It was quiet. The servers were polite and helpful. The food wasn't demolished and picked through by buzzards. The steak WAS cooked the way I ordered. The vittles were hot and buttery and yum. My GOD the yeast rolls! The salad was crisp and fresh. The dressing was homemade tastylicious. The peach cobbler was manna from southern heaven. And my GOD the yeast rolls! My wife and I proposed that we must have actually died in a fiery moving truck accident, or breathed carbon monoxide while packing up the garage. Seriously. good. food. knocked. my. socks. off. wow. surprised. really?. I can't believe I'm saying this... Horrible! They didn't replenish the food. Complained to a manager and she didn't care. I recorded how they didnt care about replenishing the food. Will never go back to this GC. That manager is only there for a check and don't care nothing about running a restaurant nor an ounce of care for good customer service. Yall should have kept this location closed. I went to eat with my family just to be talked about by the staff. We got treated very poorly and the bathrooms reeked and were poorly cleaned. Staff did nothing but clown around and if I hadn't paid for my meal already, I would have left.. I should not have to pay for service somewhere just to hear the staff clowning their customers. The food was pretty good, 3 adults and 2 kids ran us $30.00, so fairly reasonable price as well. The manager came by and greeted us, thanked us for choosing his restaurant and our server was very attentive. We never had a pile of dishes and our drink glasses stayed refreshed. Both the manager and the server entertained our kids and made sure to ask them how their food was and if they would like anything special. Place was clean, even saw the manager on the floor cleaning a spot with hot water to ensure that it did not stay long and mark the carpet. Only took one star off because I would like to see more variety on the bar, but overall, the food was good for the price and our service was amazing. read more

Went eat the breakfast buffet & it was good & everything was hot! The greeter was nice and a family of 6 about $50-60 if you get a drink or orange juice,but overall the waitress tried her best to do her job! Also went eat on a dinner night,like a week later to see since the reopen how the dinner was&it was actually good! I am not a big fan of buffets, and this experience further solidified my distaste for them. The waitress kept our table clean, and the drinks filled. She even put up some fresh coffee for me. I mainly came for steak and wings. Both were solid choices. The wings were done right and the steak was great also. The restrooms were bad and severely need attention. And like many of the other comments, several dishes were missing. The salad looked old and withered. My wife was also annoyed that the grill was moving at an extraordinary slow pace. She was actually waiting for food for most of our visit. Due to the overall sanitation and rude greeting by the hostesses, I give this place low marks. I was just happy I didn't get sick. Corporate needs to look into the standards of this location. Save some money and eat some where else. read more

I paid 36.00 for 2 people and they said SALAD was on shortage and had None. Half of the food was empty and it's 3 pm on Sunday afternoon. I came for salad and got 0. Whole restaurant smells so morbid. Smells like a mix of filthy kitchen, floors that have never been mopped. Unattended bathrooms... Nasty smelling rugs..... and questionable cleaning practices....some food was ok, but the disgusting smell I could not get over...I couldn't ingest any food properly and enjoy it how I really wanted to.. Wondering if a place is clean or not... The smell totally traumatized me... Filthiest most vile Golden Corral, I have ever encountered... Some employees look tacky and unkempt, some had there stomachs showing with untucked shirts and sagging pants while working.. I thought I saw one young man's poopy droopy underwear while he was working because he had no belt and his pants kept falling really low.. Gee whiz... Golden Corral. This was an absolutely HORRIBLE dining experience.This was at 1:00 P.M., the bottom of the lunch hour. We had to go through the "clean" silverware to find clean forks; the buffet was neglected, with empty bins or bins filled with dried out food; we had to bring our empty glasses up to the cashier and ask for refills, since our waitress was MIA for over 15 minutes; the fried catfish was extremely greasy. The major problem was my interaction with the manager. I called him to complain because of an incident that happened: The banana pudding bin was completely empty, so I politely asked the woman behind the counter if she would please refill it. She very nicely told me she would. As I stood at the bin with my empty plate, waiting patiently for her to refill it, I realized that she was NOT making any effort to get more banana pudding. She began to refill the bins around it, taking her time. After about 4 minutes, I asked her again about the banana pudding. She turned around and walked away. I thought maybe she was going to get the pudding, but she never came back. I went back to my seat and called for a manager. He came to the table and I explained what had happened. He never apologized at all and made excuses for the woman who had dissed me. I truly believe that this store manager is the reason for all the negative ratings. I was a restaurant manager in the past, and I can tell that this guy has never had any real training. The bottom line: I will never eat there again. Food was great. This Golden Corral didn't have as many food choices as some I have been to. However, the fried fish was awesome and so was the pot roast. My family had the fried chicken and was good as well. Bathrooms did need attention....dirty and a couple toilets were stopped up. read more

Have eaten there several times, and it is one of the better Golden Corrals I have eaten at. Huge variety of foods, and salads are especially good. Expect your usual crowd of buffet eaters, and at times you will feel like you are being herded around, like cattle. But, for a quick lunch, with a good variety, this is not a bad choice. Their fried fish tastes an awful lot like Long John Silvers. Lots of beef choices on the line also. Give it a try if your in a hurry or just want a variety. read more

This was a great option for our family of five. Everyone got what they wanted and there were plenty of choices. We'd been on the road for almost a week and it can be tough to get many veggies in when you're eating out so much. This is what made me want to go here. What can I say? I ate way too much. The waiter was nice. The plates and silverware were clean. The bathroom was clean. The spaghetti noodles were extremely over cooked-almost crunchy. The macaroni and cheese was good. As well as the fried fish. There were plenty of choices and the chocolate fountain was really good. It was overall okay or decent but not extremely good or worth going out for. I've been to many Golden Corral restaurant. I'd say this was the biggest let down for food quality! I've been several times, hoping for improvement: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Poor consistency, cold food, old food, and just plain yukky food. People friendly. Good location, parking not bad...just need to work on FOOD. read more

I fixed a salad to begin with - everything looked good but when I took a bite I discovered the olives were rancid. I then fixed a plate with fried chicken which was burned and inedible, went back and got baked chicken that was so tough and dry I couldn't eat it. I did go back but nothing appealed to me. We ate there at 1 pm and expected fresh food but it was terrible. The place looked dirty. I don't recommend eating here. read more

EDIT: 8-24-18 Today we revisited this Golden Corral location after speaking to the manager about the prior visit. He sincerely apologized on the phone and sent us coupons for two buffets. We went today around 5pm and everything was great. The food was hot, fresh, cooked well, and taste good. The environment was clean, the waitress was attentive, and so were the managers. It was a complete 360° from our prior visit, and thank God for that. I think what made the biggest difference was that it was a different manager on duty from last time. This manager, I think his name was Mr. Larry was nice and we even noticed him helping the waitresses with tables and also cleaning up spills. There was also another manager there this evening, I don't know his name, but I do remember him being there on other occasions. Anyway, he also helped the waitresses. I really appreciate the time that was taken by the manager to reach out to us, apologize, and make up for our prior bad visit. This shows that he cares about the restuarant and the customers. I guess either the employees were talked to about what occurred last time or it's a new crew. Either way, We were able to enjoy our dinner. Golden Corral will now get a five start rating from me. Today 8-7-2018 around 5:30 pm my friend, her kids, and I went to the Lafayette, Louisiana location of Golden Corral for the popular advertised wing buffet. Our experience was a terrible! The food was COLD, not hot, not warm, but COLD!!! Now because the current promotions was the wing buffet I was eager to try them, expecting hot fresh chicken wings. Well that was a disappointment, the wings were cold and when biting into one, it was uncooked. Uncooked as in the meat under the skin was pink. The French fries were as if they had just taken out of the freezer and defrosted at room temperature. It's no way that the employees were checking the temperatures of the different foods as required at any restaurant. Now moving on to the salad bar, the presentation of it was undesirable. The lettuce and spinach was wilted, there was a nat on the cantaloupe. Also on the shelf that holds the clean plates, there were dead nats on a plate and also flying in certain areas of the dining room. At this point we were disgusted. The only thing that we were able to eat was the ground beef and cheese with chips and that's only because we ate that those before noticing all the other unpleasant things. We did not pay $15.02 to eat chips and dip. It rained today so the ceiling was leaking in certain areas and there was no sign posted in the area also, the floor surrounding the dessert area was wet and nobody came to mop it up. If these types of things are going on in the front of house area if Golden Corral, I can't imagine what happens in the kitchen. I completely feel as if we wasted our time and money by visiting Golden Corral and could have gone next door to the Chinese Restaurant and paid less for better food, better service, and a much cleaner environment. I hope that this Golden Corral restuarant cleans up their act before they get a visit from the health department. I used to love Golden Corral because it was a wide variety of American comfort foods but after this experience I no longer feel that way. I will not be returning to this location for the above reasons or will I be recommending this location to anyone. read more

Last Friday at 5PM we visited the Golden Corral in Lafayette La. Service was great, the hot food was filled, But the dessert bar was very neglected. The ice cream machine tray had not been cleaned in a while, dried up ice cream. gross!!!!. This is the second time the dessert bar has been in terrible disarray. Where is the manager???? read more

So today me and my mother stopped at Golden Corral in lafayette La, to eat lunch as we do many times. We sat at a table in the back corner over looking everybody. They had an elderly couple at a table close up front, one of them being a man If had to guess 55-65 years of age in a wheel chair. He was having trouble fixing his own plate and making it back to his table so a complete stranger offered to bring his food to his table as he made his way back, as i repeat a complete stranger offered he did not ask it was offered. Once the food was set down the waitress of that table walked up in the most rude way possible and told them that he was not allowed to get help from strangers in any way that it wasn't there responsibility to help him because he was in a wheelchair. The man's wife told her that it was wrong of her to say that and in the tone of voice that she did. The waitress then began to scream and yell at the lady making threats. So the lady got up and found the manager on duty and made a complaint. After done talking she returned to her table to finish her meal. I then saw the manager and the waitress talking in a joking manner laughing as nothing was wrong. at the same time my mother was talking to the couple and apologized that they where spoke to like that and informed them that if they needed any help that I had offered to do so. During this time the waitress walked up screaming that the couple and her friend I assume she was talking about my mom not knowing that we never met this couple had her messed up that she wasn't worried about a fucking dime that she didn't need that job that much. She even at this time got in the older ladies face threating to assault her while calling her racist. And the staff including the manager where still joking about the whole deal, so I walked up and asked the manager why he wasn't handling the situation he informed me that he was just a shift manager that it was out his control so I asked for the corporate # he refused to tell me so I politely got his name and told him thanks and then showed him my phone that I had already pulled it up. After all said and done the couple thanked us for standing up and defending them not knowing them. I told the guy that I spent 7 years in the army reserves that in situations like that most are nervous to stand up, and do the right thing but I firmly believe in good Karma and was raised to give a hand to ones in need. This guy served 6 years in the army then was a police officer for a following 20 before he was forced to retire caused by medical issues that placed him in a wheel chair unable to walk,I'm sure in that 26 years he has helped many and it disgust me that someone would treat him badly over nothing. If I could give it less than one star, I would. I hadn't been to this location in years because the food had been so bad. I heard from a friend that the food had gotten better, so I decided to try it again with my son. I wish I hadn't. Our hot food was not even warm. We each had a biscuit and could not eat more than two bites. They were disgusting. I didn't even try the pancakes, because the few in the pan were burnt, and those remained there for our entire visit and they never replaced them with new ones.The french toast was like rubber, as were the eggs. The bacon had a weird taste to it. The rice and black eyed peas weren't even warm. My son said the same of the green beans and corn, and none of them were good. He wanted to try the ham, but none of the employees behind the counter would even look at the customers to ask them if they wanted anything, so he tried the bbq chicken instead. He took one bite and put it to the side of his plate. The mac and cheese had a good flavor, but again, it was cold. The spaghetti was really gross and waterlogged. I thought I'd try a roll since the biscuits weren't good, but the roll was just as bad. The turkey was barely edible, not moist at all. I usually love german chocolate cake, but it was not good here. The brownie did taste ok, as did the roast beef with vegetables. They were probably the best things we had here. It was a total waste of money. We could have had a better meal at Whataburger, and it would have cost us less. Next time, I'm not going to believe it when someone tells me that this place has improved. I will not be fooled again. I went there today with my husband and cousins because I had a flyer from school saying that kids eat free at the restaurant and when he went to pay we were denied. The boss was saying that he never saw the flyer and that he would not honor it. When the flyer clearly said that all kids eat free every day all day. Never going there again.
