I found the staff here to be very nice and helpful. Often people act like they do not want to be bothered, but not here they are happy to help if you need any help. The food was good for the price. The resturant is clean and the bathroooms are clean. Very nice place if you are on a budget and would llike to go out to eat. You can also get meals to go and I have found this to be a good option epecially for seniors, who do not want to cook. I'd give this place a 5 star rating. read more

I use to love this place. When they remodeled a few years ago it was great. Been here a few times since then and let me tell you it's gone straight downhill. Never have chicken breast anymore. Ham was down to about 1 piece on the cutting board. No taco raps during all my time there. Made a waffle trying to get my 10.00 worth and you might be able to guess. No syrup. Asked if they could replace it, no luck. Rolls use to be great not anymore They were cold and no butter or lard. Believe me I'm no connoisseur of great food but I wish I ate at Macdonald. Checked out this Golden Corral while checking out a college for my daughter. We got here right before dinner so we paid the lunch price and still was able to get the dinner for the lunch price. If you want a beverage which they have soda lemonade or iced tea it's an extra unless you are a senior and arrive between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. your beverage would be included. The food was pretty good they have a nice salad bar with a lot of different toppings you can add to your salad. They also have during lunch cheeseburgers which were delicious. They also have corn on the cob Pizza sweet potatoes chili and a taco bar also a fajita station you could make your own. They also had a dessert bar with chocolate dipped strawberries chocolate dip Rice Krispie treats and soft serve ice cream the soft serve ice cream to me did not taste the best but that was my opinion. Our waitress was very nice always asking if we needed more water or extra napkins. The place was pretty clean the bathrooms could have been a bit better. Overall I would recommend this place it is definitely a lot of bang for your buck. read more

The best time to go to the breakfast buffet is soon as the doors open. Food is fresh and hot and not picked over. Less crowds. I've never been the biggest fans of buffets but if I do go it's always soon as doors open. They have all the breakfast staples but some lunch items like friend chicken and fresh salads. A lot of options and perfect for a family who has picky eaters or tastes. If you go on Sunday's at 4pm they have steak. As a buffet food is fresh as it ends they rotate and I like the salad bar and the proteinsz my daughter loves the desert bar. They have soups too literally a little of everything you can think. Just no sushi. Service here is always friendly and quick. Ambience isn't the best like a diner so nothing fancy. When I eat here I always have the feeling of those stops you make in the middle of the road from a long trip and you are starving... so this is perfect because your not eve sure what you want but you look around and you'll find something! Came here today with my son for lunch. We often come here. It's usually pretty good. The last time we came for dinner it was not good. I figured they just a bad night. So today for lunch. The buffet is totally empty and nothing is coming out. We come here because my son loves their fried chicken. We're here half hour and the fried chicken still has not come out. This chain has been around over 35 years so we know what to expect. This one has far more choices than most, having many more seats than most. My 2 friends and I arrived after noon and found the place fairly full on a Saturday. There were many families and fairly large groups, many children but none out of hand thank heavens. No one like screaming kids. The plates were warm but they got cold quickly. Most impressive was the salad bar with many selectins and everything fresh. I esp. like seafood salad which could have used some mayo, chopped onions or capers, and chopped egg. All salad items, like potato and tossed, spinach leaves all looking great. Many salad dressings available. My friends had more dinner items, chicken, pasta etc. I had the baby fried shrimp, hushpuppies, but there was no appropriate tomato and horseradish sauce one expects on fried shrimp, or even cooked in the shell. There was a collection of other sauces though and I found them adequate. When you have lots of kids you need good dessert options. I don't usually leave anything uneaten but the lemon meringue pie was - well they need to find another supplier, but the chocolate items were really over the top and I had to stop myself from having too many. Plenty of strawberry cake, cookies and brownies. Service was quick and pleasant. I like half and half tea and she brought me a refill without even asking. Because of the large number of items offered I feel sure a dieter or someone with sugar diabetes would find plenty to eat there. read more

I recently visited Golden Corral in Weldon ,Maryland and it was awesome. Breakfast was amazing hot and delicious, the attendants were johnnie on the spot. But in Gastonia ,Golden Corral needs a uhaul! When I finally got a folk and knife I had to wait for someone to bring me a clean set.The plates and spoons were dirty ,had to actually search for a clean spoon at two stations. Arrive at the restaurant before 11:56. Our order was taken a 12:08, after coffee and drinks we were informed at 12:29 that our tickets was lost in the back. I ask to speak to a manager, who explain the waitress has to helping to wait on others and therefore was slow in getting the information out to us. Make comment "what have that to do with us". At least 10 set of people has come in after us.most has gotten there food and left. We should have left then, but didn't The manager promised the food would be out in 7 minutes after we place the order again at 12:36. Our order was send to us at 12:45, the eggs were cold, the gifts was warm, but stiff, the butter wouldn't melt on the pancakes. The mangers came back around and I explain to her that I was very unhappy because the food was warm which it appeared to me the foods has been sitting somewhere. The managers stated that she has watch the cooks plate the food. I began to show to her how that could have happen. the spoon was standing up by itself and no heat was going them the pancake was so cold, the butterwould not melt on them. No conversations were made for this and I promised myself I will never go back there again....and all my husband wanted was some good HOT pancakes for breakfast this morning. The best buffet in town. The longest wait was when you had to pay, but once you are in, you get seated right away. Good was fantastic during Thanksgiving. Enjoyed my experience. I'm not really a buffet person , especially if I'm not familiar with an establishment, but I was very impressed with service and the amount of people they could accommodate in one party. This was only my second time visiting a Golden Corral and I must say, this time I was much more impressed so I am glad that I waited to do my review. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff was attentive. The idea of Golden Corral is super simple; you walk in, pay, grab a drink. pick your own seat, and go to the buffet. Super easy! There is no hassle in between of waiting to be seated or waiting for a drink or paying after. When you are done eating, you leave which is nice. There is essentially no waiting on anybody and when you are starving like we were, that is soooo nice! The buffet is pretty extensive. They have everything from seafood, to meats, to salad, to soup, to chicken/tuna salads, to mexican, to I think you get the idea! Pretty much anything you are in the mood for, you can find here. The food seemed to be very fresh and I saw the staff switching out food often to keep it that way. There was almost too much to choose from. That's always my problem when I go to buffets, I fill up so fast that I can't enjoy everything! Such a dilemma! haha The dessert bar was something to note!! Not only did they have ice cream (soft and hard) but they also had a chocolate fondue fountain!!!! It cant get better than that! My daughter has been offered twice. They did not clear or offer to clear the table up for 45 minutes after we sat down. Not typical of this place. They usually are on top of everything. We always tip pretty well here afraid not this time because literally there is nobody to tip. Ready to leave no offer of refill. Demoting 1 star. Wrong. Bad decision. Most of the food was greasy and just not well prepared. The medium "steak" was tough and dry. The fried chicken was just ok. I did try out the salad bar and I was pleased, but you don't come to a buffet and pay 12 bucks for a salad. The desserts were all terrible and clearly made with cheap ingredients. I have been to plenty of Golden Corral's. When I moved here my husband and I decided to try this one because it was closer to home. Upon entering the restaurant we felt as though it was not too dirty but definitely not spotless clean. The food is definitely hit or miss. There have been times when we went and the food was great and then there were times when we went and the food was eh. The service wasn't too good. I think our server was so busy talking with friends and cleaning up the same table for 15 minutes that she forgot to refill my drink. I would say the events they hold are pretty neat. They have madden contest, movie nights and other things. I've never seen that at any other GC. Overall this place isn't too bad. If I may make a suggestion...clean up a bit and teach your servers some customer services skills. Other than that...you're good to GO! read more

A recent change in management at the Golden Corral in Matthews, NC has resulted in a truly enjoyable experience for its diners. The variety and quality of food is superior, and it was no surprise to discover that all the food is cooked on site. Accidental eavesdropping revealed it is prepared by people who enjoy cooking and aim to please I discovered at my most recent dining experience there (two weeks in a row..I went back with my sister to make sure my first experience wasn't a fluke..lol...it was not!) I'm not ashamed to admit I'm just an old southern gal who loves excellent food that won't take a huge chunk out of my budget. Frankly, I look askance and with amusement at the 'fashionable' gourmet dishes now served at many of Charlotte's emerging posh restaurants--- 4 or 5 bites of food, artfully strewn with a few asparagus spears, drizzled with lemon zest sauce carrying a ticket over hundred dollars or more is not for me or my pocketbook. :) I simply like really tasty southern food, carefully prepared and served with a smile. That is what GC offers. Dani was the best--smiling, friendly, always there when we needed the table cleared or a refill but not a 'hoverer'--the perfect server! Bill, the front end manager stopped by on my first trip and was delightful as he checked to make sure all was satisfactory for our party. The new general manager is clearly on top of everything but she still took a few moments to stop by and make sure we were happy. When complimented, she modestly attributed our wonderful experience to her staff-- the mark of an excellent manager. Well-prepared food, friendly staff, and a level of cleanliness I have not seen in a long time, Golden Corral is now the place to find these things at affordable prices.
